for animating your offset with time, or any property that has multiple values, you don't need to write all that value stuff, just write time*[0,0] where the first number is for X and second is for Y, note the use of SQUARE brackets
Only 7 years later =) Got a use for this so much, so thanks... Looks amazing (not good at after effects but fun to play arount.. Just did a static pic with 2 dj's and blinking lights in the background synced to the music, made the djs blink the eyes and put dust particles over and then wanted smoke so this one ontop was perfect) =)
I believe his blacks are crushed because he began screen capture in RGB, then didn't account for that on import into a Rec709 color space video project, then back out to RGB. It's a common mistake when moving between computer monitors and NLE's designed for NTSC television screens, which have different luminance ranges.
The intro is pretty standard to me with what content is on RUclips these days. Not sure why it's such a big deal to the comments section lol Thanks for the tutorial, nice tool to have that could be easily used for other applications
Oddly, the turbulence offset expression won't loop :( It works fine loops until I add it that specific expression in. This the expression [value[0]+time*100, value[1]-time*75] Any suggestions?
Great tutorial, thank you very much! I played around with this, made the smoke 3D and parented all the smoke layers with a spot light that moves through the smoke, super cool! Starting from here the possibilities are endless. Thanks again ;)
The only thing I would say could improve this is to brighten the screen and slow down just a little bit while talking through because I'm new to this and it'll be a little harder to play back all the instructions haha other than that you rock man! Thank you!
Yo thought I was the only one on some points are clear but others he is flying through I definetly appreciate the video just remember to reherse the video so when ppl are listening and trying out what you are saying it's crystal and they want have to replay this over and over again
Thanks! Helped me a lot! For those who complain that they only can the black screen - it's probably youtube crashed the quality. Make it yourself, play with opacity and scale - works great!
Hi. Nice tutorial. I have a question. I follow step by step all the tutorial but the fractal noise lose his effect after 22 minutes. How can i apply it along of a one hour video? Why it stop?
Never mind i figured it out =]. Rendered into video then put the video into After effects, duplicated the layer, cut bother layers in half, then blended them into each other with the opacity stopwatch. In case anyone else wanted to know xD
alt + keyframe, choose property, loop out and type the program. Or you could search "flag" in his channel I remember he taught before, hope my comment can help you.
How would you loop this? With all the expressions won't looping be hard? I'm a n00b in AE so my only solution is to literally render out a 10 min video of the animation lol
Hey Friend, I think your intention is good to each this things but why you don´t show the final result ? I mean the rendering to see the real effect done ? has real sense if you show the effect done
Salut Ignace, comment vas-tu? Je suis toujours tes tutoriels et merci pour celui-ci... Je vais m'en inspirer pour plus tard. Je suis en vacances. Ça fait longtemps que je n'ai pas mis de vidéos en ligne... À bientôt et bonne continuation.
Can't you just export without background so you have alpha channel? or export with no background and then reduce the opacity as needed when you use the smoke?
Hi Ignac, Firstly... thank you so much for your tutorials! They have really helped me on my journey to using Adobe After Effects. Much love! Secondly, is there any way to use this moving fractal noise/smoke effect AND loop the effect so it's seamless from end to start?
No worries! Couldn't find much on the internet about looping Fractal Noise with a moving Offset Turbulence. However, I had a think about it and ended up duplicating the Fractal Noise layer, did some calculations and managed to get the duplicated layer ending at the same start point as the original layer. I then had a Time-Vary Opacity change to blend them together. Was this the correct way of doing it?
Great tutorial. You did a great job explaining why you used each expression! This atmospheric smoke is going to look great in a project I'm working on. Exactly what I needed!
@2:17 when you add the fractal noise effect onto the fractal noise layer, it looks cloudy. When I add the effect onto the layer, it doesn't do this. It shows the effect has been added, but nothing changes. Any idea's why?

That intro was pain
intro is really annoying

damn 11 months later and im the first to like this time reducing comment
@@josephcarmona6284 still makes it worth while mate

Intro was dumb, but the rest was incredibly informative. All and all, thank you for making this.
can't see the effect at all so I don't know what the tutorial will create

When you preview your work, we (the viewers) only see the black background!

You need to show it work
You need adjust your monitor settings or get a better one
The intro is pretty standard to me with what content is on RUclips these days. Not sure why it's such a big deal to the comments section lol

I don't see why everyone hating so much on that intro. I mean, it's unnecessary but you can just skip it lol. Helpful video bro.
Oddly, the turbulence offset expression won't loop :(
It works fine loops until I add it that specific expression in.
This the expression
[value[0]+time*100, value[1]-time*75]
Any suggestions?

Could I see the result anywhere?
Where did you get your channel intro music
Vocal cords
AG editing club I have free no copyright music on my channel. Use all you want just follow instructions in the description..
from our lord and savior Jesus Christ.
Lmao
Well since he's dead, I guess he won't need them any more.
I'm not really working on a smoke effect but I feel kinda dumb for not noticing that Offset Turbulence value, thats all I needed, thank you!
SUPER helpful, thanks!
Haha, nice beatboxing Ignace 👍
Also good tutorial, this will definitely help me in my upcoming horror short film
Glad you enjoyed it!
Ohhhhh the beat boxing was so cool! Thx for your tutorial!
haha, thanks!

Yeah the end was really bad at just skipping around really fast....
I seen more dead people than I seen clouds. Maybe it's my screen 🤔
awesome tutorial man !!!!
this helped so much thanks idek why ppl dislike u
Tks, man! It helps me a lot!
nice Ignace - thank you very much
Wowww nice tutorial love it need to practise my editing skills again
would love to know how to change the color of the smoke ?
thank you, you're saving me for failing a class thank you so much
Dude, seriously. You explained it 1000 times better than my teacher in school! Damn boi, well done and thanks a lot :D
Can you do a tutorial on the intro sound effects? 😂👍🏽
Thank you!! I've been looking for a good way to do this for a while now...
Great tutorial! Never thought I would actually be able to do it.
:D
you are a god amongst men for that epic intro 10/10
I always come back for that expression...
Then how do you make smoke appear to be coming out of somewhere? As if it’s a car exhaust or something
With ALPHA MATTE
almost clicked away cus of that beat boxing holy shit
What lamp is that in the background?
very good bro . i like how you explain and make it very easy and clear . good luck with all your videos .regards
+Amjad Alassadi Thanks!
That guy Sam Evans always looks completely surprised lmfao
I just wanted to know how to make smoke effects and this fool is beat boxing.
How you make it loop continously?
same question. did you ever figure it out?
@@FleetiePie the expression does it automatically?
Completely lost after 3:00. Whenever I click the clock icon it just adds a keyframe, I am unable to look at my script or manipulate it.
does anyone know how to make the smoke loop nicely so it looks like its going forever?
Awesome beat boxing bro
How did you make the text appear and disappear like that! If anyone can help that would be great!!
Can I make this project alone and then use it in another project or it should be done on the project I want it to be added?
you didn't show the settings for the render?
If you want to know how to make it go left instead of right, all you have to switch - (minus) instead of + (plus)...
Why it stop?
subbed man, great tutorials!
Thank you! :)
Sorry, I am not able to get script part by clicking Offset Turbulence. Why?
Oh wow... I did not expect that intro
you are great thank you!
I watched a black screen for 8 min. of this tutorial. It would be cool to see the finished effect. All I saw was black...
is there a ways to add an image behind the smoke?
Great video! Any advice on how to make the smoke effect loop seamlessly? I'm using it for a game
Never mind i figured it out =]. Rendered into video then put the video into After effects, duplicated the layer, cut bother layers in half, then blended them into each other with the opacity stopwatch. In case anyone else wanted to know xD
Making a game? Nice
Awesome tutorial man! Really helped out. I'm making a creepy looping background for halloween this is going to be perfect!
Exactly what I was looking for......Thanks a lot!
Thank you for the video. It has been useful for me to learn the concept.
Good video!
Awesome effect! 😍
Great vid thanks, ive foubd turbulent noise is much, much better. Try it out
Is there any option to loop moving (up, down, left or right) fractal noise effect?
alt + keyframe, choose property, loop out and type the program. Or you could search "flag" in his channel I remember he taught before, hope my comment can help you.
thanks a lot
I did not understand why you didn't show it after
cannot get the background to come thru the smoke its either background or smoke no combination.

Could have done with out the intro, but the tutorial worked, maybe just start with the tutorial next time lol
Can't you just export without background so you have alpha channel? or export with no background and then reduce the opacity as needed when you use the smoke?
is there a way to make it repeat flawlessly?
This was so helpful, thanks!! :)
i can only see black sreen
check your project settings and see if you are using GPU to accelerate effects. if so, turn it off by changing it to "software only"
I could not see smoke effect at the end of video only a black screen
but how do I make it loop for gifs so it doesn't cut out weird?
best intro what i ever saw clapclap
