To be fair to Gilder, if he and Clara had switched genders, everyone would be on his side for running from her. Lady is nice but girl can't take no for an answer.
Come to think of it, the reason Gilder probably handles rejection so well is because he doesn't wanna turn out ANYTHING like Clara.

Just that fortress turning into defensive mode alone is proof that this game wasnt just something the developers were doing for their company, this was a passion project for them. Getting a remaster for this would be amazing.
Yea I really think the way the game could be rereleased is for the base game to just be the standard Skies experience, with two optional (and affordable) DLCs-one being just updated graphics, and the other being additional content (e.g. expanding on the Purple Moon civilization so it's not so rushed lol)
Drachma and Gilder are such amazing father figures for Vyse it's even more unreal that Dyne doesn't even die in the story 😂
Love that Gilder shoots enemies within melee distance by holding his gun sideways. It’s a fun detail to differentiate between his ‘melee’ attack and his ranged attack.
i can't get over how all the blue rogues are just the best people, no major flaws, always willing to help out.

This game is a thousand times more beautiful when you really look into how much hardware space they had to work with at the time and how optimized this game and others of its gen where compacted, compressed and fully functional and STILL has the dedication to have hours of playtime and the abundance of details it contains, for christ’s sake there are no repeat npc’s! They’re all unique!!!!

I don't think I quite agree with Orson Welles there, as sometimes a person's ability to create art can be severely hampered by a lack of access to materials, but I can at least understand that having NO limits (or very high ones) means not having to rethink things.
This playthrough is hilarious. It reminds me of when I was a teenager playing this game and me and my siblings would make up funny voices for the characters. I don't remember all of them, but if I remember right:
-Galcian talked like a sinister, deep-voiced Elmer Fudd
-Gregorio sounded like Yosamite Sam (with a running gag of "oooooh I hates them _____!)
-Vigoro sounded like Johnny Bravo
-Belleza had a squawky British accent like when John Cleese and the other guys from Monty Python dress up and act like old ladies in their sketches
-Drachma had a thick, grumbling pirate voice and would fart a lot
-Empress Theodora sounded like the Wicked Witch of the West (with the running gag of "and his/her little dog too")
-Princess Moegi sounded like Ling from "Kung-Pow: Enter the Fist" complete with "wee-ooo-wee-ooo" noises
-Likewise, Kangan sounded like Betty and Muraji sounded like Wimp-Lo
-basically every other person from Nasr sounded like Apu from The Simpsons
Definitely not nearly as clever as yours but it was fun for us nonetheless
I love the idea of Vyse just pulling a semi-Kazuma-KonoSuba and randomly saying, "I am Vyse."
Everyone in the chat saying "YOU CAN DO BETTER" about Clara's obsession with Gilder, but she's a sweet stalker and he's a purely consensual womanizer so i think their relationship is about as equivalent as you can get

Gilder shows so many of the "likes women but in a good way and is NOT a creep" qualities that they had to balance it up with "I hate my wife" boomer humour. Which is the only thing keeping him from being S tier. ...Then there is the Valuan admiral who is about as rapey as you can be in a game like this.
I don't know anything past this point, but from what I've seen of Clara so far it's not boomer humour, she's just a deluded stalker.

Yeah, I don't know why you're thinking of it as "I hate my wife humour" as unless there's going to be a reveal where he and Clara are actually a couple, he's a guy dealing with a comedically (by the surrounding context and how she's not harmful in-universe) aggressive stalker.

Oh, also, the Valuan armor is fairly historic for JRPG armor; they've got sallet helms with gorgets, which personally I appreciate because it's so rare to see people in modern materials wearing proper helmets and neck armor. Bet it screeches like mad when they turn their heads though
IMO, the helmets are totally fine, but they stand out because the rest of the body seems way less armoured.

Having already played Wild Arms 3 about a year before I ever played Skies of Arcadia (this was back in 2005 or something, I think), seeing Clara for the first time was like, "Oh, okay, so Virginia saved Aika and Fina. Dunno how the Hell that happened, but cool, I'm game for this."
This game set the bar for me in terms of customizable bases and there haven't been many that have come close, it's such an under utilised mechanic.

Makes sense. Sci fi is often about space and all things you can find out there, so multiple suns is an easy way to introduce that quickly. fantasy is often about one world and everything going on there, so the moons around a planet and their effects/mythos make more sense there.
I hope we get to see Jello fight the literal incarnation of evil in the game: GIANT LOOPER.
I just got the 'boats have the same life span as digimon'. Digimon can't really die- they either de-digivolve or, if they really get smacked down and dissolve into data, they reform as an egg and start all over. Only a few get forcibly deleted from existence, most of them baddies. Boats, at least wooden ones, as long as you keep repairing and replacing parts, can also go on forever, resulting in the Ship of Theseus argument, unless they are forcibly destroyed.
Still a really weird comparison to make.
If a digimon is made to de-digivolve, they retain their memories and are the same digimon, whereas if they go back to being an egg, I think they lose their memory, which makes them basically a new digimon. So that answers the Digimon of Theseus question, I think?

Honestly, this is my favorite game ever! It's the only game I've ever played a game at least a dozen times, and as far as a D&D campaign, absolutely! I took the premise and completely ripped it and reskinned it using pathfinder system with the Final Fantasy d20 homebrew system. It actually functions with the different elements, and Skies is the most FF, non FF game ever!

Yeah the bigger guy will have strong abdominal muscles as well, just a healthy layer of fat on top. But it all depends on what your goals are and it's good to search "exercises for ___" and make sure to include search parameters for if there are limitations you have. Like low mobility or joint pain. And you can be healthy at any size, it just depends on your body's fat distribution. And if the employees at your local gym are nice, you can ask them for at home exercise advice

If I remeber right, the lava worm boss in the fire temple is the only boss that is vulnerable to the stone status effect, but the only way you can inflict the stone status effect is by one of Fina's Smoves, which doesn't have the best success rate.
Naturally there are a lot of things they could do in a remaster/remake of the game (or even a prequel/sequel)... however, one of the coolest things they could do that would still be pretty unnecessary and would make the game even easier, being able to use all the characters in your group instead of having to choose who the fourth is.
not only did that treasure bring them all back together, but that chest belonged to a famous sky pirate guy and is super tricked out

While not a remake (and yes, a Skies of Arcadia remake would be INCREDIBLE), there is a spiritual successor that, shall we say, borrowed heavily from Skies of Arcadia.
Xenoblade Chronicles 2
Takes place in a skysea with nations located on different floating landmasses
There is an empire and a kingdom on the brink of war
The empire has already conquered another nation associated with green
The MC is a member of a semi-respected group that generally does good (blue rogues / scavengers) and hails from a small obscure village of great lore importance as revealed later in the game.
The MC's first dungeon leads to him encountering/rescuing a mysterious girl (Fina/Pyra) who came from a city in the sky (Soltis/Elysium)
The MC also has a sassy female sidekick (slightly different - they meet before the first dungeon and aren't childhood friends, but close)
The three become a polycule - this is actually cannon, as a photo of them with their kids is seen in Xenoblade Chronicles 3 as an easter egg.
There are also direct equivalent characters to Drachma (Vandham), Enrique (Zeke), and Ramirez (Malos).
The combat... well, it sucks, just like all the Xenoblade Chronicles games. Still, I found it worth playing for the story and characters and setting. It scratched that Skies of Arcadia itch in a way nothing else but the original ever has (and my Dreamcast disk is damaged and unplayable, so I can't replay the OG).

1:32:06 - If it's any consolation, the live-action One Piece definitely made Sanji into more of a Gilder-type character when it comes to women as opposed to a huge perv, so that's an improvement and gives us a chance to see an actually cool Sanji who isn't dragged down by his sexism.

Anyone else think it was incredibly short sighted of the ancients to keep the moon crystals that control the super weapons like, 3 feet from the super weapon?
Like, if you're out of hiding places, and absolutely can't find a further away place ... At least store them near the wrong weapon! Put the red one near the green weapon. Someone who doesn't know how they work will try to summon it, it won't work, and they'll start questioning if the legends were wrong.

Really enjoying the play-through and reading of the game! Skies of Arcadia is one of my favorite games! But this episode highlights one of my biggest problems with the game....

Out of all of the Valuan admirals.... Vigoro is the ONLY one to survive AND he gets a happy ending! That's always stuck in my craw when better characters didn't make it.
Even De Loco, the literal insane mass murderer for funsies guy, would have been a better admiral to survive.
