350Hp Lotus Exige K24 || Honda SuperCharger Engine Swap

- This is the remake of an older video of our Channel featuring the spectacular Lotus Exige S2 of Piotr Soja that competed until 2016. Powered by a Honda K24 motor fitted with a Supercharger, this Mid-Engined Monster weighed only 800Kg making a proper machine. Added to that was a very GT3-esque bespoke Widebody kit developed for over 5 years until its final form, which can be seen here.
Although it hasn´t competed now for quite some time, it is still a mighty impressive machine and a pretty unique one too. The lightweight Lotus always was pretty much the perfect partner to the K-Series Honda engine and this was one of the most spectacular machines using that Chassis/Engine combo.
Came across your older video back in ~2017 of this car along with a few other swapped Lotuses over the years, which inspired me to set a goal of buying/swapping a Lotus. Fast forward to a few months ago, imported an S1 Elise and on route to swap it! Huge thanks to you and the work you do. Had it not been for you and your content, I would've never even considered such a car. Keep it up!

@@carboi8772 Currently imported into Canada, so have a few more months to wait before I can finally import to the US. Hopefully the border closing due to the pandemic won't further prolong the wait. But yeah, for sure will be documenting the whole journey!

Engine sounds are straight up intoxicating. What a beauty.
Honda K series engines with performance heads are just phenomenal engines.
They routinely reach 9000+ RPMs, they make more torque than the 2ZZ, come with cast iron sleeves from the factory ready to take some abuse, has amazing air flow through the performance cylinder heads (much better than the Yamaha designed head in the 2ZZ) and it even engages variable lift more smoothly. The world record for a naturally aspirated k24 is over 450HP, and I've seen them on forced induction at over 900. Meanwhile, the famous 2ZZ combocharged Lotus featured in one of Matt Farah's old videos made less than 700 HP and that engine had a lot of work and money put into it.
Open up your ears and listen well because I'm only gonna say this once:
Lotus only used Toyota engines because they had former deals of selling of intellectual property and stock (shares) ownership by Toyota's part, and they were probably legally bound to utilize Toyota components in exchange for Lotus helping design the Mk.2 Supra.
Had they not had these legal ties with Toyota, they most likely would have approached Honda. That's what I would have done at least.
No matter, there's always the aftermarket. We can swap the engine and make the car have the engine it always should have.

@Frank White when built any engine its a good engine. Hondas K20 and K24 show theyr advantage when u want to keep the engine, or at least the block stock. They produce very good power n/a and about 425 hp with supercharger or turbo. They will last a life time if properly maintained

@Frank White Mate i don´t care about what SAE international says. Any Stock EP3 with K20A2 revs higher than 8000 and the japanese EP3 with K20A revs even higher. About reving faster, and i´m talking about stock engines, compare a celica tsport and an EP3 civic and you will see. I mean, as a japanese car lover i like 2zz too, it´s a good engine, but overall the K20 is a better engine, 100% stock 2zz is much more sluggish than a k20!

@@Silvexwoww You do realise that rpm counters on the dash always read inaccurate? all cars, the 10,000rpm redlines you see are actually more like 9000. no ep3 revs that high, you just think it does.

@breadandcircuses8127 I mean, it looks so clean when it's racing. I guess technically, it's the driver doing it. The car just seems to go through corners like a hot knife through butter.

What a car! I had a 2006 Honda CRV (AWD no less!). Hard to believe it's basically the same engine as in this monster of a Lotus.

@@real_talk1180 yes and no. I like their engines & how easy they are to put up a lot of power, with very little weight... However, my area is full of ricers & JDM shenanigans, so I have a bad taste against them.
To me, Honda is cheap way out for things.
@@real_talk1180 don't get wrong... The K-series makes good power & you can do a million things with with it, but Honda is the cheap way out & should be left to the JDM community.
They have my respect in their own right, but not in a Lotus.
