I have been working in Broadcast TV here in Sweden for over thirty years and unless a media outfit has bought the host broadcaster rights there is no way they charge the media for any such coverage and definitely not for news coverage! However, as I have spent many holidays in my beloved Buccoo, and have many fond memories of the goat races, I understand that Tobago in these hard times needs all the revenue it can get! The flip side of the coin is that a foreign journalist is actually providing marketing material that would cost Tobago substantial amount of money if Tobago paid for advertising abroad to attract tourism which in turn would generate more income in the long term! 😎. 🇬🇧🇸🇪🇹🇹

It’s years the government of Trinidad and Tobago has been trying to push tourism and up to now in 2023 they can’t get it right. A lot of funding has been spent behind tourism and nothing to show for it.

@@sal8349 back in the old days when T&T had their oil money, that was not fairly distributed to Tobago, Trinidadians shunned tourism but Tobago was forced to be tourist friendly and survived the unfair allocation of oil profits but when the tables turned when OPEC made it impossible for Trinidadian oil to compete in World markets, then suddenly I remember on one of my visits that the Government were making a drive to teach Trinidadians to accommodate tourists for the first time by information videos on TTT but Tobagonians were already way ahead in this regard and stood a better chance of surviving this economic downturn. So Tobago held out longer against some desperate or greedy people turning to crime and particularly in the drug trade to survive! Hence, the extreme fight against crime that the Islands are failing to combat which is the reason why many tourists and ex pats have stayed away! I love Tobago, it is my home from home even though my parents were from Trinidad, I have faith and feel encouraged that at some time in the near future the NEW Tobago will be back on my holiday list despite charging me to take photos and video!😉. 🇬🇧🇸🇪🇹🇹
