- If not them, then who?! For real though? If GIDLE is not doing these kind of concept and releasing these kind of song, then WHO ELSE?! I get that it might not be for everyone and I respect that but I think we can all agree that what GIDLE brings to this industry is highly needed! I love how, times and times again they won’t conform! They’re doing them and they keep true to that! They’re risk takers, they’ve got a message to tell and the way with which they are sharing their message is BRILLIANT! If only CUBE could keep up and add the captions for example it would be great! This comeback of theirs was both fun, quirky, camp but also cunt, mother, bring the house down kind of energy and I am here for it! Not entirely sold on either songs still as of now though but I can say for sure that I did enjoy them. Both were so so so short and so the ending felt like I was being blue balled nsnsnsn But that said, the more I picked “Super lady” apart, the more I enjoyed it. Time will tell if I end up loving it or not! Otherwise this is a powerful comeback, one that is visually stunning with tons of references and great delivery as always!

Wife is actually about the traditional wife stereotype. With them all looking the same, not speaking in the video, having chains on their shoes like the saying ball & chain plus more stuff that i didnt point out. Soyeon is a genius who isnt scared to speak up

Honestly this gave me such 2NE1 vibes mixed with 4minute and I am HERE for it. That era needs a revival.
When Soyeon chooses a concept she dives in completely and every detail feels intentional. Like, this comeback is very 2nd generation-coded! Apart from the greek mythology elements and the references to their own past MVs, the predominant use of black, white and silver, a few of the sets and the overall opulent vibe of *Super Lady* is reminiscent of I AM THE BEST by 2NE1. The song is so T-ARA of course, but just like you mentioned it also sounds very much like 2010's Britney Spears. Even the lyrics of Wife reminds me of the boldness of songs like "Warm Hole" by Brown Eyed Girls. IDLE has finally achieved a comfortable and respected place in the industry, but instead of just trying to recreate the hits that brought them here or stick to the genres that most people like from them, they keep taking on new challenges and push the boundaries little by little. Because you're right, if not them than who?

I love Super Lady, but honestly I think it kinda needs to be 3mins+. I want songs to be longer again! A lot of new songs end up feeling incomplete to me cause they're just a bit too short.
The “average” song length has not changed since the 1930s… songs are not getting shorter on average they are about ten seconds longer…

@@emanymton713 Idk about all song averages, but the vast majority of IDLE songs before Queencard are 3+ minutes, but after Queencard a ton of their songs are 2.30-40 instead, meaning we do lose quite a lot of time compared to their older stuff.
I started listening kpop in 2009 but I used to listen to songs released before 2009 so I could understood what is kpop. Each generation, era, I don't know how to call it, the songs feel more empty and I remember in 2017 someone told me this is the case in kpop particularly because fandoms care too much about breaking records they need time to achieve it and that's not possible if the MV (For YT) is too long and the song is long too (Spotify, Melon, etc) and I think this makes sense. My point of view: kpop fans like to spend their time on Tik Tok and they have a time span of attention so short that you have to catch their attention in 2-3 seconds. I don't like Tik Tok for this reason. I'm old, I'm 26 I like 1 hour and 2 hour videos. I like long songs too but we are living in a world where time span of attention consists of seconds.
My theory is: According to some people since this is their 5th year anniversary, this song has many throwbacks to their previous comebacks. Soyeon's scorpion (HANN), Minnie's shield (LION or it could be the AEGIS SHIELD which was used to kill medusa), shuhua's cake (TOMBOY - Soyeon's infamous rap scene) and Miyeon's scene is extremely similar to the one in OH MY GOD. Also, Soyeon also mentions I NEVER DIE in the lyrics. The statue on which soyeon is standing during her rap part is probably ATHENA (a very famous goddess in Greek mythology and the on ewho gave the aegis shield). im not big on either song, but i wouldnt want it any other way. gidle are constantly serving their own concept with really meaningful themes and this is no different! if it's not for me it's okay because i know the songs are gonna reach someone

Soyeon on a scorpion Hann when she was stung by a scorpion but now she is seating on it. Kind of telling that she has conquered it. Then my interpretation of Minnie is Medusa with the snakes and all. That's why the statue = a person turn to stone. I think this MV based on all of the characters that has been claimed as a villain but when We look at their on story, it actually the person around them are the one who made them like that. So they fight back stronger. Which relates to Yuqi's character as Cruella 2021.

I love love LOVE all the references in Super Lady to other groups. Maybe I'm imagining it but it really feels like Soyeon is shouting out all women in kpop, probably around the world even. wife to me was them just having fun and being cute, but also slipping in a message in a cute and fun way. the song is a total bop to me that's for sure and so danceable as well. the second song is just simple brilliant to hear and to watch, the ladies are amazing looking, fierce, showing the world they are the queens of their generation. So-Yeon is truly amazing with her concepts and leadership. i really love the depth you go into with the second song and i have to say i completely agree with you, plus can we all agree that the second generation had some great groups that i would love to have back singing now.

I LOVE that the Super Lady MV was very I AM THE BEST-2NE1 coded which is so fitting cuz TO ME (G)I-DLE is SPIRITUALLY the successors to 2NE1 like 2NE1 to me was the group that had the most "IDGAF I will do whatever I please" energy & (G)I-DLE is very much meeting that with there energy with the concepts they have & the messages they have in their music which is both needed & important!
Finally some actual suggestive (but light-hearted) lyrics that are age appropriate to them. I love how many concepts they can dominate, from the quirky-cute of wife to epic-goth of Oh My God and everything in between.
And to your point, New Jeans' "Cookie" and GOT's "Step Back" would not have been controversial if they had just left out the lyrics that comeback week.

I really like wife, it feels like a very free MV (meaning it looked like they had fun making it) while super lady looked like they were overworked. Tbf Wife sounds more fun and goofy while super lady just came and made everyone shocked. The problem that I think about this is that super lady has a lack luster of a chorus. The chorus just sound very… simple. Cause all you hear is, “lady, lady, call me super lady”. Also a bridge is missing. Idk why they keep lessening music videos 😭😭 I wish it was back to 3 minutes
