The kshatriyas in this family tree are the Surya-wanshi (literally sun-clan). There are 2 more clans viz Chandra-wanshi and Agni-wanshi. Rajputs are distributed in all those clans. Rana Pratap of Mewad was of the Sisodiya clan which was Surya-wanshi.

Well all I am trying to say is that if any group in India is closer to the central asians or the scythians it is the Punjabis. That's because Punjab plains have always been the attraction for foreign invaders for its resourceful land unlike Rajasthan or Gujrat. Secondly, Rajput history is purposefully undermined in Bollywood because of politics and the Muslim/Pakistani influence in Bollywood. That is why you will not see any movie on Rana Pratap or Prithviraj Chauhan, Jadejas, etc. in film. You will see, however, a mass murderer like Akbar glorified in film, played by effeminate actors like Hritik Roshan. 3. Rajput history is very old and predates the history of all recent groups like Sikhs, Marathas by well over 1500-1200 years. And countless examples of bravery of wars and battles. 4. My own village was once ruled by Muslims, who were killed and sent running in battle by Rajputs. 5. Regarding the question of Muslim Rajputs, I see that many groups in Pakistan like the Rajputs, Jats, gujjars, etc. who are now converted. They now carry Arab names and not Indian ones. I feel these people are basically Indian.

I think you should not argue against Pathans. Vice & virtue is in every caste. To some extent, some pathans might be committing that kind of act as you mentioned, but there are many pathans whose name is called as "Heroes" too. Well all I am trying to say is that if any group in India is closer to the central asians or the scythians it is the Punjabis. That's because Punjab plains have always been the attraction for foreign invaders for its resourceful land unlike Rajasthan or Gujrat. Moreover, the word Rajput is a miscongenition of the original Sanskrit word "RajPutra" meaning kings(Raj) son(Putra) or simply put ..a Prince.

Some facts/opinions regarding Rajputs:
But before beginning I want to thank Hitpal Singh for putting up this wonderful collection of images.
1. Firstly, lot of information about Rajputs on Wikipedia is only partly correct, primarily because the Rajputs whose history is being distorted in these pages are prevented from adding the truth to those pages. So the idea that wikipedia is a source of authentic Rajput history is wrong. To understand Rajput history, people should read the books by authors particularly written at the beginning of the 20th century or during the 19th century, like the Annals and Anitquities of Rajasthan by James Todd or read blogs written by bona fide Rajputs.
2. Secondly, Rajput history is purposefully undermined in Bollywood because of politics and the Muslim/Pakistani influence in Bollywood. That is why you will not see any movie on Rana Pratap or Prithviraj Chauhan, Jadejas, etc. in film. You will see, however, a mass murderer like Akbar glorified in film, played by effeminate actors like Hritik Roshan.
3. Rajput history is very old and predates the history of all recent groups like Sikhs, Marathas by well over 1500-1200 years. And countless examples of bravery of wars and battles.
4. While Rajputs were not the kings in various areas of North India in the later Mughal period, like some areas of UP where the nawabs ruled, there were smaller kings and Thakurs whose warring and violent ways forced the nawabs to grant them jagirs or face killing and disorder in their regions. Any thakur whose land was taken by the nawabs turned to dacoity and open aggression against the nawabs and the nawab was forced to grant them land if they didn't want disorder. My own village was once ruled by Muslims, who were killed and sent running in battle by Rajputs.
5. Regarding the question of Muslim Rajputs, I see that many groups in Pakistan like the Rajputs, Jats, gujjars, etc. who are now converted. They now carry Arab names and not Indian ones. I feel these people are basically Indian.
