As a stand-alone, this is one of the best sword pulls in the entire series. If you’ve done the tears, though, this hits like a truck and becomes one of the most memorable moments in modern gaming.

I had insane goosebumps, got it by doing all tears. Really one of the best master sword pull scenes and overall also insane scene
Did this while the Blood Moon was out and had barely enough stamina. It really felt like Link, Zelda, and Ganondorf were there. One of my favorite moments of all time.

I like to think that the dragon didn’t recognize Link at first and tried to buck him off so he wouldn’t “steal” the master sword. But after seeing his determination and courage, she realized it was him and settled down

The little bit of Zelda's Lullaby playing as the traditional Master Sword fanfare plays. The fact that the sword is subtly colored differently as a sort of scar. The intensity of watching your stamina drain and hoping you have enough to get the sword.
Best. Sword pull. Period.

Just did this last night and had the perfect amount of stamina by chance. I had to come back to rewatch it, it’s so much cooler than the first game’s sword pull.
Not the mention you don't need 20 hearts 💀
@@videomicrogaming you only needed 12 or 13 in the first game but yeah I didn’t expect it would use stamina this time. Glad I decided to focus more on stamina this time.

@@shun22222You only need 10, you get 5 from main quests, start with 3 hearts and are forced to add another heart before leaving the starting islands, so all you really need is 1 heart.

in one of the memories fi was actually talking to zelda. it was blinking and zelda understood her

This moment is so beautiful not just for its cinematic quality, and not even for the story behind it, but also because of the relationship Zelda and Fi have. Fi was the loyal servant of the Goddess Hylia, whom Zelda is a reincarnation of, and Fi has protected both Zelda and Link for many millenia. She saved Link's life trying to communicate with Zelda even in BotW. This time... Hylia gave her own life back to protect and restore her servant Fi. This particular scene is so meaningful as a result, and I'm convinced it's one reason Nintendo re-released Skyward Sword recently.
Underrated aspect I really like about this scene is the “SHING!” sound effect when Link rises the sword into the air. Reminds me of the very first time we saw the master sword pulled in A Link to the Past.
I just did this, and in my opinion, the most emotional and best Master Sword pull in the entire series! And with the backstory of the Dragon Tears is even better!

I didn't do it on purpose but it was the last memory I saw, and everything became clear. Even the title of the game got a new meaning.

I love how when you first pull the sword out, the blade sheds its golden layer to reveal a pearlescent or diamond layer underneath basically confirming that this is the strongest its ever been.
So glad I did the memories in order. This moment hit hard. If you're a zelda fan, do yourself a favor and do the memories in order. Leave the master sword memory for until after the 4 temples and the quest at hyrule castle. Go get the master sword memory. Get the new last memory. Go after the sword. Get feels.
Very nice touch to use the hero of the skies outfit. the very first incarnate to wield the sword.
It was beautiful...and also in my case unexpected, cause i went blind storywise, i thought i needed hearts for the master sword.
I was trying to complete the map, and by chance i had exactly the extra stamina wheel.
Watching the memories and knowing what was coming after hearing about the dragonification thing...and still it was very suprising to me...even made me shed a few tears not gonna lie
They made it so beautiful... That initial scene with the golden sky feels truly romantic

Honestly I hope they keep this design the scaring from the original blade mixed with the light dragons horn for the new blade looks pretty cool plus it gives the sword a cool pattern on the blade.

I thought it was naydra, then I saw my brother play the game after me and I got shocked when I saw the dragon again.
I never seen that dragon because I spent most of my gameplay on the surface.

Attempting to pull the sword from it while being aware that THIS DRAGON IS ZELDA STRAIGHT UP has such a haunting feel to it. This dragon is the same as the person who this Link has formed a loving, inseperable bond with twice now. They mean the world to one another. Zelda made such an incredible sacrifice in doing what she did and thinking about it makes me so emotional. This games story is beautiful. It's art, straight up. All games are art but this is ART. After I got the Master Sword my brain got so fried that I had to get off and I took a nap for the rest of the day. The thought that whenever you look to the sky and see the dragon, and knowing that's Princess Zelda... man.
I like to think that the successful stamina check made something click in the dragons brain, at least just a tiny bit, and that she realized it was Link finally here to retrieve his sword. She finished her ultimate mission at last, after so long.
It literally made me cry. Zelda was so strong for that but also incredibly smart. The Master Sword spent so much time in her light energy that it’s stronger than it has ever been which is the key to defeating Ganondorf. It’s just so depressing though seeing the people still have hope that she will come back BECAUSE IM DEVASTATED KNOWING THE TRUTH
@@americanasian3156 the first thing I did after getting the Master Sword was going to Purah to tell her the truth it's so sad that I cant. But yeah this storyline is so beautiful, I can't believe they wrote something so bold for their titular character. I'm crying again as I rewatch the video while typing this out ;-;

This scene is pretty hilarious out of context. Link is trying to drag the Master Sword out of Zelda’s head while she is screaming and trying to get him off.
Whenever I’m down, I just remember this theme: 3:36
I did this directly after getting the final Tear, and I was almost in tears myself. After she dropped me off, I watched as she flew away and promised to come back for her. Genuinely one of the most emotional moments in a Zelda game for me.
The only downside is that while I had already done the Rito, Goron, and Zora quests, I hadn't done the Gerudo quest yet. I like ToTK's story better than BoTW's, but it also doesn't work as well out of order. You can tell this was intended to be done after the other main quests.
Ok, I definitely did this out of order. First thing I did after leaving the Great Sky Island was focus on getting the Master Sword as soon as possible, just so i had a weapon to help alleviate the weapon durability issue. I was already focusing Stamina just to make travel easier and i found out that all you need for the Master Sword is two wheels of Stamina along with the Light Dragon being the actual location of the Master Sword rather than that forest.
So i waited on the Great Sky Island for it to show up, considering high it flies, it was the only location i had access to at the time that was high enough and waited for a while. It eventually showed up and i pulled the Sword out of its head. When i saw the cutscene, i thought Zelda was just referring to Fi at the time and "(Zelda's) strength" was just Zelda being symbolic.
It was only after finishing the Dragon Tears quest did i realize she was being much more literal.
Link gets high and rides zelda (takes 2 stamina bars)

In the German version Zelda says something like "I promise this time it won't be shattered [again]".
Which makes it extra funny when your Master Sword shatters (for its 10 min recovery) on a random bokoblin a couple minutes later.
Just did this last night. I let go off my controller after the cutscene and said "this is the best game ever".
Gaming has changed for me from me after TotK.
The whole context of the scene + the VA's great work and the amazing soundtrack made this memory perfect.
Love the orchestral emphasis when Link raises the Master Sword after retrieving it from The Light Dragon.
All the games in the botw timeline have been my favorite master sword pulls

This moment was incredible. Probably the most memorable Master Sword moment in the entire series. The story for this this game feels far better than BotW. Link, Zelda, and Ganondorf are more fleshed out.

literally spent several minutes on the dragon/Zelda. I crouched down so I could feel like I was petting her. Consoling her. Letting her know I was there. That i knew it was her.
She gave up everything so link, and by extension the player, have a chance. Really hope we can get her back.

I didn’t even know the master sword was in the head of dragon and I was just riding it enjoying the view. I was about to hop off before thinking “Wait I almost forgot to shoot off it’s horn” I walked towards its head and my jaw literally dropped
zelda wanted to make sure that no one but link would access the mastersword so thats why she wrestles with you. is very emotional if you think about it. Zelda doesnt struggles at giving you the sword if you follow the 5ths sage quest because by then she would know you are link in fact
The devs intended for this to be an emotional moment after getting all the memories and completing the main quests
They did not account for me playing through the game in the most ass backwards way possible and accidentally finding it early on
I actually did all the memories and got the Master Sword afterwards. Not like the sage scenes were that much different.
I realized something when rewatching this cutscene and hearing 2:25 - 2:33. Zelda becoming a dragon was probably teased all the way back in the E3 2021 teaser trailer at the last shot of Hyrule Castle and Zelda's lullaby playing in the background. The thing is its the same instrument used in the Dragons themes in BOTW (at this time i have not gone near the 3 dragons in TOTK). I dunno if that instrument was used in other themes across BOTW-TOTK and I dunno the whole thing was pointed out so I thought I would.
I remember some RUclipsrs pointing out the relation but they never finished it, they came so close

Me and the master sort have one thing in common we want to be held for a very long time
It was when I pulled the master sword that I realized that the use of the erhu to play Zelda's lullaby in the first trailer all along was a HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE hint about Zelda and the master sword's whereabouts in the game. You only ever really hear that instrument play prominently when you're in the presence of one of the dragons.
Best sword pull in the series. How you find it. Where you find it. All the sacrifices made to repair and get it back to you. It's so heavy!
I also realise how well made this scene is, but im sorry, do you know how annoying it was to have built up hearts the entire game, only to realise i needed a second stamina wheel, which i did not have by the way?
I was lucky to have 2 full circle of stamina. Got it just for traveling around instead of less important heart (for traveling). after finishing the geography investigation quest, I teleported to a nearby sky island. and light dragon was just so happened to be below me. I thought it happened to come out when the geography quest ended. I flew on its head and sure enough I pulled master sword out. it was unforgetable experience.
To me, this is meant to be done after the Regional Phenomena, 12 Tears, and defeating Phantom Ganon in the Deku Tree.
You learned the events of the past and found your sages, now it's your turn to receive the power to defeat the Demon King.

I'm curious to know as well because I haven't beaten the game, but I heard from my friend who spoiled the reveal (light dragon, not the origin), you get materials from it. That seems to be a gameplay mechanic thing, so I assume she's probably normal lore wise. I could be wrong.

You did NOT ruin it, don't worry. If you don't already know what happens, treat the game like a mystery book that starts off with "you're probably wondering how I got here" and spends the rest of the book telling you just that. It reframes the story for sure (and definitely wasn't the intended way), but I didn't find that my experience was ruined by it. Actually very happy I got the sword early, because playing the game the way you and I have is a special kind of experience in its own right.

Yeah or they could've done something completely different with it. Like a new design and name. Even if it'd be generic like "blade of light/time" I still would've preferred a unique take on the Master Sword. Given the story relevance around the sword's restoration they had a big opportunity to make it special, imo.

5:25 I know they don’t like giving link emotions, but they really missed an opportunity for link to pet the dragon
They let Link show plenty of emotion in OOC, TP, and SS. Epona, Midna, and Fi brought that out. Zelda is an emotional doomsday device in BOTW and this garbage game.
