    I don't get what the membership is about vs the yearly pass. If your yearly dues is the same as the yearly pass why the upfront cost?

    • @ChristinaJohnson-kb6ox
      @ChristinaJohnson-kb6ox 5 месяцев назад

      Maybe so people don’t have to commit to a membership? The pass is only good for 14 days then you have to stay out of a TT park for 7days I think. A membership(depending on the one you get) allows you to stay in a park for 21 days but you can move to another park if you wanted to.

    I was considering getting an elite membership which allows me to stay in the parks for up to 21 days at a time.
    But what if I wanted to stay in the same park?
    Would thousand trails allow me to just pay a nightly fee and stay at the same Park for months, instead of packing up every 21 days to go somewhere else???

    Can someone help me see the value?
    From my understanding you have the annual fee either way, So the cheapest option seems way better to me?
    Because with the cheapest option you can stay 3 weeks per month, with the more expensive option you can also stay 3 weeks per month ?
    Longer booking time is that really worth thousands of dollars more?

    We bought new in 2003 and have upgraded 2 more times. Yes you can buy used and its a good thing to do because it saves you money and helps someone sell there's when they no longer need it. Thats a positive to be able not be stuck with a membership you longer want.

      @james-rd4dq happy for you that you are soooooo into boondocking, to each their own. For a lot of people TT has been a positive, but i will only speak for myself. I like the option of scheduling and knowing I have a spot. The TT" s I've been to are in better shape than some private campgrounds, and the more you camp, the less your membership cost. There's a number of reasons for the resale. Original owner of the membership passes away and the family would rather sell the membership. and you have people that bought it and full timed for an amount of time, now want don't need it. I'm certainly not an expert in this, but TT has worked for me.

    Are you still supporting TT?

  • @SomeStrangemysterious
    @SomeStrangemysterious 4 месяца назад

    You really have to decide how you camp and if you’re going to get value from your purchase. What works for me is buying an annual zone pass, currently I paid $520 in 2024. I chose the southwest which gives me all the TT parks in California, Az, Nv and Colorado. I can easily add more zones as needed or not. I can opt out of buying the pass for a particular year or purchase it later in the year if I have other travel plans that would limit my use of the annual pass for that year. It’s totally worth it to me, over the cost of a full membership, which still requires a yearly maintenance cost. The booking window is only a max of 60 days out, but that has not been a problem for me and the way I travel. Happy camping!

    • @cajunpagan

From what I understand you cannot do it that way anymore. Do they still cap the amount you pay when you get to the age of 65? Also when I had camped through thousand trails they did not allow permanent residents as they do now and after looking at some you tube videos and reviews from current owners it appears that a lot of them are worse for wear.

    Many people regret the quality of the campgrounds in the TT system. The question is one really of cost. I am not seeking luxury at a campgound. I purchased a zone pass for my winter season of 2019/2020 and recieved great value for my purchase. A zone pass is a 1 year zone pass in the $500 range. No membership cost. Unlimited 2 week stays with a 60 day booking window. I stayed twice in las vegas and once in palm springs. Good value. Your expectations should be realistic, and you need to purchase the appropriate pass/membership that works for how much you will use it.

    Hello guys, as always, awesome video and thank you for sharing the information with us. Love your channel. PS, if you allow a personal note, which I should have written weeks ago : so happy that you shaved that beard… hehehe. It’s personal to me, I know, but you look so much better. See you in your next video.

    This is a typical time share program. Pay thousands of dollars and than pay a yearly fee which increases every year. Most popular places are impossible to get into. Unless you purchase the most expensive plan, you don’t get yo go where you want. You can buy a used membership for thousands less. Really.

      We also have several articles that Jason has written on our website: getawaycouple.com Just search Thousand Trails on our site and they will all come up 😊 Thousand Trails is a campground membership organization that operates in a similar fashion to a resort timeshare. You pay an upfront cost and then are able to use the facilities for given amounts of time throughout the year.

    Great video guys! We have the elite with trails collection and it’s paid itself off in the past two years. For us, it was spending as many nights as possible in their parks to pay it off quickly. Now it’s just a thing of staying 10 nights a year and our dues are paid too. (We still stay 100+) another issue they have is the reservation system. We notice that they leave about 10% of the spots open for retail customers. I understand the profit of this but it makes it difficult at times. Days blocked but notice there’s plenty of open places. The only other issue is the roadways in the parks could all use repair.... we added another membership that allows us to stay at parks where there is no TT for about $15 on average that are normally $50+ night parks.

    1000 Trails on the West or East Coasts & their add-ons get into more expensive budgets. The parks are very particular with your Furbabies. Lots of reservations restrictions as well (know your length). If you can't understand all the rules, the millions of rules, you won't enjoy. BTW, we've been to Encore Parks the ones not on either coasts with our RV PARK Membership (Not 1000 Trails). If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything.

    Customer service is my issue. We purchased a yearly zone pass+ encore, $900, then a week or so later Covid lockdown happened. We were only able to book 4 nights the whole year! That is pretty spendy considering all the perks were closed! We thought that since our Governor locked down our State and we were directed not to leave our own county and the campground in our county was booked solid, that maybe Thousand trails would give us some expanded time. Nope. They were also rude about it. We did not renew

    If you're fulltiming on a budget,... A thousand trails membership is a must. Some parks get you to a location while others fulfill your needs. It was one of the best investments we made preparing for this lifestyle. Jason and Rae have videos breaking down the membership levels and how the system works that we are appreciative of. Also. Loved the bloopers.
