Unboxing: Parker 51 CT Midnight Blue Fountain Pen

Ok, confession time: I got this pen in December 2022, unboxed it in September 2023, and finally posted this video in June 2024 😅. Well, at least this means I’ve had a good amount of time to use it and can share my experience of using the pen so far… and that’s a good thing? Right?
So here are some additional thoughts I hope you find useful:
1. Yes, after some use, the shimmer ink does clog the nib. So far I’ve gotten the ink to flow again by rinsing the nib under a tap. Yes, even if there’s still ink inside the cartridge. Just make sure the nib is facing downwards/with the flow of water.
2. Even with the ball bearing, the ink tends to gather at the bottom of the converter. This could be an ink issue though. If you’ve use this pen with non-shimmer ink, do weigh in on your experience in the comments below. I don’t mind ‘forcing’ the ink down towards the nib - I do this quite regularly with some of my other pens - but this type of converter makes things trickier and I have squirted ink all over the place while doing this.
3. Is it just me or does ink evaporate quite quickly from this pen? Or does it just use up a lot of ink when writing? 🤔
4. I still love this pen though, as well as the ink combination because they look so good together (superficial much?). So despite the “inconveniences”, I am sticking to this combo for the moment.
5. Oh, and I haven’t noticed any nib creep, although that could be because there’s not much of the nib to see 😬.

I have three of these pens including one with a gold nib. They are nice to write with and very comfortable. The only issue I’ve had is with them drying up if not used regularly due to the air holes in the top of the cap. Nice ink. Haven’t tried that one. 😀

Thank you for that information! Now I know that the ink disappears not because of the specific ink I’m using and it’s the pen itself. Good for using with inks you want to finish off quickly perhaps 😁.
