Shoplifting Couple Arrested at Hoboken ShopRite

- Around 7:01 PM on March 18, 2024, Officers Brandon Fitzgibbons and Domenick Allegretta with the Hoboken Police Department were dispatched to a report of a shoplifting involving 2 females that had occurred at ShopRite at 900 Madison Street. They made contact with the alleged shoplifters, who were being detained in the loss prevention office. The alleged shoplifters were identified as 30-year-old Ana and 38-year-old Maritza, and they claimed to be a couple.
The loss prevention officer showed the officers surveillance footage of the 2 alleged suspects attempting to leave without paying for 75 food products totaling $311.72 after only paying for 6 items. The loss prevention officer detained these 2 individuals as they approached the exit door and escorted them to the loss prevention office.
Officers Fitzgibbons and Allegretta placed Ana and Maritza under arrest. They were transported in separate vehicles to the Hoboken Police Department for further processing. At the police station, they were searched in more detail by Officer Rose Kanan. Officer Allegretta finger printed and photographed both of them. After they were processed, they were each charged with 1 count of shoplifting merchandise under 2C:20-11B(1). After they were processed at the Hoboken Police Department and handed their summonses, they were released with a summons to appear in court.

I work at TJX Max and the shoplifters from foreign countries after covid has become insane. It's every single day, hundreds of dollars. They all seem like illegals. I always thought Texas was racist af, I had no idea how right they were. I live in NJ. I even got a flat-tire yesterday because some foreigner lawn service through out the window what looked like spike strips (they ended up being spikes to keep birds off of buildings) and I got a flat. Just threw them out the window wtf is going on this country. A t-shirt we were selling and some indian lady wiped her child's butt with it. Disgusting. I'm used to the annoying Indians (no it's not ALL of you) but this getting out of control at least the Indians aren't violent. Texas was right the whole damn time, I apologize to all of you who knew the deal.

Poor Hoboken Shoprite gets hit by shoplifters every day it seems. In other towns it's Walmart, Target, Walgreens, Family Dollar, Dollar General, Home Depot, Lowe's and often multiple stores in malls. Until DA's start prosecuting and stop offering sweet plea deals and until judges quit accepting these plea deals, shoplifting will keep driving prices up for us paying customers and forcing stores to close. Come on judicial system. Stores are now asking for prosecution, police are fulfilling their oath to protect the public by enforcing the laws and making arrests, so COME ON judicial system......DO YOUR JOB!

Actually, on a different upload the cops were complaining about how this store calls the police even when they know they aren't going to file charges.
Their policy is that it has to be above $75 before they will have the shoplifter arrested. They just ban them from the store.
The guy even said that before these ladies, there was a man who they just banned and let go because he didn't take enough.

I go to that Shop Rite all the time - the town it is in (Hoboken) is very nice and up scale. It is surrounded by the hood though and a lot of garbage makes its way in. After these videos maybe they will learn, even though they won't.

Ironically, some stores put in self-checkout to cover losses from shoplifters. They don't have to pay the machines a salary. They're trying to save money and not have to keep raising prices to paying customers.

No ID. I can’t understand why our own law enforcement doesn’t call ICE when foreigners can’t show identification. Or at least have the ability to check immigration status.

I started being friends with this girl. Always had a new manicure, nice brand new clothes, brand new phone, always asking me to go out to eat, I would say no because I didn't have the money in my budget. She even drove a really nice Mercedes. One day we were out and she said she needed to stop and pick up some groceries, did I wantbto come? Sure I thought I need some milk. She pulled up to a food bank. I assumed she was dropping offva donation but we got out and she started walking in, I was so confused. I asked what we were doing? She told me she didn't "waste her money on stuff she could get for free, whatever they give her that she doesn't like she donates back". I was appalled and disgusted. I never spoke to her again.

People should be held accountable for their actions. It's concerning to see a pattern of comments that disparage other countries without any understanding of their origins. It's not fair to generalize or belittle nations based on stereotypes, especially when it comes to the perception of law and order.
