The team that went to the Finals just came around about 5.5 months ago. They did play very well in my opinion. Not just Luke. But everyone. But since most of them were INEXPERIENCED in a Finals, this is bound to happen. I think it is a learning curve of being in 1 team and being able to learn how to play efficiently together. Plus even if we do not want to excuse his injury, Luka was in reality injured. No questions about that. I think they will be able to come back stronger next season. I am excited to see how they play next season and see how much they have improved. People will always point fingers to the star players. When Jordan was with the Wizards, he couldn't bring a championship to them. Was he heavily criticized for that? Give Luka and the Mavs a break. 2023-24 Season has completed. Let us all move on and stop pointing fingers to that boy. He did his best and his team did their best. I think they will come back stronger next season.

I agree with you. The Mavs should have much more actions for a Luka catch and shoot, and Luka could improve his moving without the ball. The fascinating thing is - that even banged up as he was - the Mavs would have had a chance if the other players just hit the open shots he was generating for them. It didn't happen this year. If the Mavs just had a couple of players that can generate their own offense - it would be a great relief.

In the NBA the team needs to be organized by 5 players not by one player. Each player plays a role on their team instead of relying on just that certain player to shoot, pass, rebound, steal, block, and field goals in the paint and three-point line. It is exhausting to see one player just run the team because they want to do everything but can't win when it comes to the finals.

There is no question of Luka's basketball ability. He is 25 years old, with 6 years in the NBA.
He basketball resume speaks for itself of what he has accomplished previous to coming to the NBA and yes, has some great statistics so far in the NBA.
Here are some points I wish to make.
    1. He needs to get in shape. Every years he looks heavier and I don't think he works out with weights.
    2. A lot of players carry and palm the ball while dribbling; Luka is the one who does it the most... Dribble, dribble.. palm the ball high while dribbling, hold it for a few seconds to determine if he should shoot or keep dribbling.
    3. It is obvious that he is sneaky with his dribbling but once you get close, he will immediately attempt to dribble behind his back and lose control, high percentage of turn overs.
    4. Probably complains more than other players, like if he is exempt from getting calls against him.
    5. Has no speed running the court, no speed, no defense.
    6. I believe Luka will only play 10 to 11 years in the NBA. He doesn't have the stamina.
    7. We always tend to put a young basketball player on a pedestal, comparing them with actual legends and hall of famers. They did it with Ben Simmons, they did it with Zion Williamson, they recently did it with Anthony Edwards and now doing it with Luka.
    8. Some fell short, others will never reach it. As a young talented player, they are fast and agile but lack the maturity that is part of the game.
    9. Luka is one of those magical players that come to the NBA once in awhile.
    10. Dallas didn't win the NBA finals because of Lukas immaturity and average plays. Nothing to do with Kyrie yet I give Kyrie 3% of the fault. The Boston fans took care of Kyrie.
    11. It is to soon to make comparisons, to soon to expect Luka to be a champion, but it's never to soon or never to late for Luka to get in shape, to be quiet and realize it's a team sport and playing tactics are part of it.
    12. Dallas will not reach the finals in another 10 years, even more if Mark Cuban sells the team.
    13. Jason Kidd will have one more year as the coach, then it's over.

It takes time, training on and off the court, get enough sleep, exercise, eat a healthy diet, hangout with your family and friends, and get back to training. There is a lot of distractions on and off the court. I know it's hard to keep your composure. Keep focus on what's important to you and keep that to heart. Life is too short not to have fun in life.

Luka was AMAZING thru this postseason but in a series against the Celtics the Mavs were OUTMATCHED at every level. The Celtics are a better team than the Mavs (and every team in the nba), in fact the real story line here is about Celtics dominance this season. The Mavs were the Cindarella story , could've missed the playoffs but going down the stretch they were also dominant. Lukas weakness in turnovers, playing defense, health and conditioning, free throw and threepoint completion percentage and composure were present however he dominated the playoffs in scoring, rebounds, assists, and steals and when he was on court Boston was negative in the points. To me the story isn't about Dallas not showing up but more or a young David going against a seasoned and complete Goliath of a team in this years Celtics.

Entrusted with more offensive responsibilities? That’s a joke. He didn’t chose to pick up all those offensive responsibilities, the mavs handed that to him on a silver plater because that’s how he presented himself. His stats are meaningless considering how much he uses and controls the ball. No one said a word about Luka having too much offensive responsibilities when he was happily dropping 30-40 by just dribbling around people and getting easy layups or passes.
Luka has all the brains for offense when he’s in control. Give the ball to someone else and his usage and stats drop along with all of the mavs hopes.
If Luka had been realistic instead of going out to get his points they would’ve been better prepared for the finals but Luka probably thought they were fine playing how they had been all year and it was not enough mainly because he couldn’t get anyone else involved. He got his 20-30 but it was inefficient and his team struggled.

I've been saying for a long time that Luka and the Mavs are better off with him settling into a point forward role (small forward) and giving the ball more to Kyrie. Let Kyrie and a backup point guard take on more burden, and to push the pace. Been saying that for several years now. But the negativity around Luka now is WAY overblown. No one is giving him credit for making it to the finals, but everyone is finding holes in his game. I would change Luka's role some, but the Mavs don't seem like they want to. But their way is successful. This was Boston's year. They were hard for anyone to beat.

Also improve his 3p shooting, that was not there at boston; partially because of injury. Unfortunatelly he joined Slovenia national team, and that is not best idea. Nobody in Slovenia for the first time in the history would not saying anything if he does not play.

No one disputes Luca’s offensive genius. But you have to balance it against him being an historically inept and indifferent defender. His blow by rate of nearly 70% is the worst since the stat has been recorded. For all his offensive genius, he is giving 15 PPG back due to his atrocious defense. Secondly, there is a long history of ball dominant players being unable to win a championship. This list includes Wilt Chaimberlain, a young Michael Jordan and James Harden.

He’ll get there like u said wilt and mj had to change their game. Luka will do the same. He’ll get there he just gotta work and tweak a couple things. Dude also played injured the whole playoffs and still made the finals and was 3 games away from a chip. This loss will help him improve

@@purplesky4157he will now add defense to his game. If he becomes a good perimeter defender it's over.

15 ppg? You realize that Luka averages over 30 ppg, right? Jordan figured it out. Wilt won a couple of rings. Hardin never got to the finals as a team’s best player. Luka just did though, at age 25. Jordan didn’t win a ring until age 28. Many star players struggle on defense or in some regard in their early years. Luka will continue to improve the gaps in his game. None of the best players in the game did anything by age 25 either. Luka will be fine.
