These are great guitars. Feather light, comfy neck, rich sound. I admit I'm not a huge fan of satin finishes - but there's a thin nitro finish on these that can be easily buffed to a gloss. They're winners. Nice demo too!
Thank you for a straight forward demo. Fingerpicking and strumming, crosspicking. I literally just bought a faded J45 today so I am psyched
This new production gibson faded is absolutly killer and beautiul !!! I just baught the Lespaul 50 faded its a fantastic instrument the acoustic gear seems incredible as well !!!
Just discovered your channel. I love it! You let the guitars speak for themselves. Also great guitar playing skills.
That’s the Gibson sound everyone wants.
Excellent demo and lovely playing, which brought the sweet tone out of the J-45. The wood tone combination of Mahogany and Spruce just can’t be beat. I own a D-18, but this comes in a little less with electronics and has a shorter scale length than the Martin, so it’s really a different playing experience I would imagine.
I have this guitar it is absolutely amazing can’t believe how good it is
That sounds amazing !!
Good sound! Great review!
thank you for this great review!!!!!
Really loving my non faded model..
JUST FABULOUS , THANKS
Great guitar....incredible playing!
Does this satin finish make scratchy noises from your palm or shirt sleeve when strumming? Some finishes do that and it bugs me. Thanks
My kinda playin right there.. nice to hear a guitar sound like you think it will .. satin lets it breathe
came wanting to hear a J45, left wanting to buy a J45 and a Tlm103
Would be nice to hear it without all the processing. I was at my local guitar store the other day and the one they had did not at all sound like your.
Great point.
Sounds as good as my j-45 standard. I love the j-45 models whether vintage or standard. From the low E string to the high E you can hear it all. The Bozeman made j-45 are the best yet. What I really like is the shorter scale length. You can tell the difference. It's a very comfortable guitar to play. Mine had an excellent setup from the factory with no modifications needed. There's one thing I don't like about it and it's the pickup. But if you are playing unplugged it's great. The anthem would have been more deserving. Why cheap out on a $3000 guitar? I just didn't like the clacky sound the vtc has.
What brand strings are you using here?
Of the entire J-45 lineup, this is the one I'd buy right now. Love that "faded finish", love the late 50s/60s style long pickguard. Love that the spec includes real bone nut and saddle, true to the era and that they include an LR Baggs pickup.... $2499, but no one pays MSRP on high-end guitars. $2100-$2200 out of the door at most big box options... That's a great price for a real J-45 (Sitka top on Mahagony back and sides, this is the original spec... don't be fooled by the J-45 Studio). IMO this "Faded" series model is the best value for quality of the lineup.
Great guitar!
A good sounding guitar. I always liked Gibson acoustics. Not their electrics, but acoustics. I would own one if they weren't what seems heavily overpriced. My Yamaha will have to do for now.
Good point. And owning a Yamaha FG-830, I can definitely relate. But Eastman makes a slope shoulder dreadnought, VERY similar to a J-45. They can he had, new, for under $600 without a case. So add about $150 or so for a case. ALL solid wood, top, back, and sides. (Spruce top, Sapele back and sides.) 24.75 scale length, just like the J-45. And I believe the bracing is similar to the J-45.
Does it sound just like a J-45? No. But to my ear, it sounds better because it's not as tubby and has more sparkle. (I owned a 1956 J-45 for over 40 years and while I loved it for what it was, a lot of times I wished it wasn't quite as dark.). Just something to think about. Peace.
More than anything..I enjoyed your playing.
