There are tons of different types of Muay Thai with particular teachers and champions of the style. I figure you probably already know, but if you don’t sylvie von itu does a ton of coverage of different styles, she herself is a Muay Khao fighter meaning she makes the knees in clinch her win condition. The style really dictates the stance and footwork.
@shinobiarg1342 i was not referring to that. Look at his stance, his use of push kicks, round house kicks to the body, + clinch throws. Cutting distance into elbow range, etc. It was pure MT.
Because when karate does full contact, it is basically just muay thai. Kyokushin looks so much like or the same as muay thai for this reason. Muay thai has big influences on many stand up styles today, because its been proven to work. Nothing flashy or fancy that dont work.
the MMA guy at the end was really worn out, you can see he forgot his original stance, he forgot the kicks as already said, and was throwing random haymakers instead of punches with good technique. I'm not mocking him, it must be though I get it, but he really was exhausted and you could see that.
Anyone who says karate doesn’t work in a real fight doesn’t know what they’re talking about…. Not all karate schools are the same equally. It’s all about the right school and instructor... and yes, I know that these two guys don’t necessarily come from karate background. But the point still stands.
Style counts too. Kyokushin karate is legit very recognized cause they fight for real to knock out not points. Kudo is great and complete but that is more to mma.

Love seeing the Muay Thai guys fighting in Karate Combat, fantastic to see elbows and knees allowed. When are they going to add Lethwei headbutts?? Just kidding.
The word “Muay” basically means ‘to fight’ in Thai. The concept of Muay can be found throughout the region. People spar as a game and practice Muay regularly, but never associate it with sports. As there’s no sportsmanship when you tryna survive in the battlefield. The term “Muay Thai” was coined later when the concept of westerners’ boxing and modern sports as a whole was introduced in Thailand, and later got integrated into local Muay - by gave it clear sets of rules, introduced boxing gloves, standard ring, outlawed head butting, making the art of 9 limbs, navaavuth, became 8 (Tho it’s still referred to as navaavuth in Thailand; nava-nine avuth-weapon), and many other stuff got changed. So, now there are distinct line between Muay Faraang, Muay Thai, and Muay Boran (boraan-authentic) which still teach various headbutt moves, limb twisting, bone breaker, head stomping, prisoner controlling and stuff, and are often taught in MT classes as a “fun fact” from time to time. You can ask a Muay boran place more about it if you still interested in practicing some headbutting techniques.
This is awesome. I LOVE seeing fights that include knees and elbows. It adds that extra fight spice. It really surprises me to see white pants guy fighting from such a flat footed stance. Great fight from both guys. Thanks jerry. This is really good stuff.
So basically this is low budget muay thai show where they invite no named muay Thai armatures to train karate fighters? wtf?. You will never beat muay thai guy in stand up game with elbows and knees. These guys spend 100% practising elbows and knees, while karate spends 50% or more doing kata and forms. Even kyokushin still does some kata and forms just to be karate, and not be fully muay thai.
Make it almost full karate by allowing throwing and joint locks and pins (no submissions, because that would make it more like Japanese jujitsu). Almost, because you don’t allow finger breaking, eye poking, or other things that unsportsmanlike. Obviously, this is a sport, not a duel for survival.
@@MuaythaikickboxingMMA0 yeah, most only know them from Muay Thai,so not a lot of options. That what is was complaining about. Kyokushin is pretty much karate version of muay thai.
