I bought a new black car getting mystery damage on a monthly basis. Once I was walking back from the beach and a group was getting out of a brown Mercedes with there ice chest on my hood. Yeah, as they walk away I surveyed the damage and let them know of the level of my displeasure with a metal washer l found on the ground.

A buffer spins much slower, if you use a grinder with even the lightest compound you WILL cut right through your clear coat! Dont ask me how i know... :D

Ooooh.. I don't know.. Uneven wetsand with no sanding block, doing both compounding and polishing with a rotary machine.. I'm afraid that's going to be hologram hell looking at the fast movement of the machine.
Gold is a relatively soft metal...that probably explains how someone scratched the NUGGET!!!
"It's Just a Car" I have heard a LOT of people say that when they bang their door into your vehicle, scuff it with a trolley or rub past it. THEN when car owners start parking their vehicle on the white lines to stop people getting too close and scratching their cars they become enemy number one. Sad times.
To some people, a car is just a way to get from Point A to Point B.
But to people like us it IS the Point.
Not to mension those people lower the resale value of the car by damaging it.
parking on the white lines to keep people from parking too close means i will park nearly in contact with your car blocking the drivers side door if given the chance. like if you do it in the back of a lot with tons of empty spaces fine whatever but if you do it in a crowded lot you're just asking for someone to hit your car trying to squeeze in
you're using enough compound to do a hood let alone a tiny section of a panel, overloading the pad reduces how well it works massively :)
The hood?.. you could literally machine polish a full car with how much compound he put on the panel at 11:42

ive never heard or seen this before but marty talked like it was a common thing and moog knew exactly what he was talking about. like if i need to set stuff down i can put it on the roof of my own car putting it on someone elses makes no sense

As a detailer for Porsches and lots of other German autos, the biggest things I have taken away from it is: touch your paint as little as possible and the importance of a dual action polisher and microfiber buffing pads together cannot be understated and is a must have tool set for us enthusiasts.
As a fellow detailer I couldn't agree more, the more you can protect your paint and the less you have to use polishes and compounds the keep the shine the better
That’s my theory about windscreen glass. NEVER touch the inside windscreen: it will never be unsmudged again.

@@fordbloke4790 what's metho? I usually use diluted vinegar on glass. Magic erasers are great for individual smudges, too.

My guess is it was because it's a Mira.
It's highly unlikely regular joes and janes at the shops would know the amount of love and effort put into this particular Mira. The act of putting your stuff on other people's cars is NOT OKAY but I can see how an inconsiderate twat would do such a thing, they simply don't or can't appreciate the Mira at first glance.

I cringed as Marty dropped the foam applicator on the floor.... Guarantee he didn't wash the dirt off it before smooshing it into the paint.

Unfortunately most people only view cars as an appliance. It’d be like setting your drink on top of someone’s washer or dryer to them.
@@coreyscarrepairs why would you be setting your drink on a stranger's washer or dryer?? That's equally disrespectful, not to mention it would require breaking into their home as well
helpful tip from a pro detailer: the less product the better, whether it be machine or by hand. more liquid means more sloshing it around. and continue to clean the pads often. if by hand, the 1 minute rule (1 minute of work, spray with a little water and brush out with a tooth brush and resume) if by machine, after each panel.

This takes me back to the early years of mcm on the driveway working with relatively cheap stuff on fun little nuggets. It’s nice to see see them making a video about something so universal anybody can do to literally any car by just popping down to the local auto parts store and having a browse around.

Best episode in ages. Love the down to earth real mcm. Don’t get my wrong watching them swap transmissions out of scoobies is great but this is the stuff that really matters.

Love the video as always lads. As a detailer here's some tips
You're using way too much product. You only need 4 pea sized drops per panel. Using too much is making the cutting process much harder
When using a machine polisher always hold it flat on the panel or you can cause polish marks very like what is on the mira.

I’m in California, I never use people’s cars as shelves, and have never seen anyone do that here at all. Where does this happen? They would get a beating here if that’s the case.
I can't tell you how many scratches I have buffed out of my cars from those idiots that lean on your car to put flyers on my windshields. San Diego is the worst.

Two things: 1. Marty never refers to Moog by name (any name). Its always 'Hey, mate' or 'Bro.'
2. I don't think I've ever seen Moog without a hat.

Difference between a painter and “detailer”
Detailer says this is a 6 stage paint correction process bla bla and will cost $3000
Painter says I’ll sand it then buff it. Lol

The painter knows how much clear he has to work with. A detailer is normally working with older paintjobs and doesn't want to get down to the base.

Actually read this on another forum a few weeks ago. A guy was walking back to his car in the parking lot and saw a woman had put a basket full of groceries on his cars' roof while packing them in her car. He confronted the woman and she said 'well if I put it on my car I get scratches in my paint'. Guy picked up the basket with her groceries, threw them on the ground, got in his car and drove of
If you're feeling frisky you can also use gasoline. Use a tiny bit of it on a cloth and then rub it on a small scratch. What happens is basically the gasoline disolves the paint and clear coat. But if you are carefull enough you can smear some of the still good paint on the damaged part. This is also the risk since if you cock it up you disolve your coat.
I worked in a 4wd car yard in the late 70s,and we used wd40 to polish the old land rovers . It made them look real shiny
