Just today I showed this channel to another engineer friend of mine, and tried to explain why this is my absolute favorite RUclips channel. The people, the quality of the boat work, Pancho, the quality of the videos, the historic nature of the project, and on and on. I'm proud to have donated, I get to feel like I helped a tiny bit, and I am rewarded regularly with fantastic entertainment. Happy Holidays to the crew and to the whole community.

It's so great to see Leo routinely picking the very best of the available options for concepts, materials, detail design, and manufacturing methods. Truly inspirational!
Apart from anything else, if the individual parts are works of art (as those Swiss-turned copper clinch rings definitely are, and of course all the cast bronze bracketry, and it goes without saying, the awesome framing and planking) then the people who assemble them will treat them with extra care, diligence and reverence. Thereby "baking in" a goodly portion of love and concern, as well as enriching their own lives by growing and enhancing their storehouse of satisfaction and accomplishment.
I have turned some tricky parts from copper and I know it is not straightforward, even on a manual machine where you can exercise feel and discretion to optimise cutting conditions and avert a horrendous dig-in, which would likely wrench the toolbit out of the holder if you're lucky.
Even then, a fair bit of "clenching" is involved, on the part of the operator!
(Specifically the part which gets sat on when riding a bike.)
To a degree, "evil" materials like Inconel or Nitronic are more predictable and amenable to doing it by the book.

Between Rosie's skills and David's artwork/design, all the narrow cutoffs from the plank stock could be turned into furniture or various woodworking products. The several hundred thousands of us who get our biweekly tickle fix would scoop up their results, adding to the till. Such wonderful wood will hopefully be used down to the chopstick size. Also, a salute to the mechanic twins, who I think speak for nearly all of us faithfully tuning in to this delight.

Thanks for including the day to day maintenance activities in your videos. It's a good reminder (and first clue for some of us) that blades and bits need regular sharpening and tools don't simply continue endlessly working as designed. I didn't notice much of those activities in this particular video but thought of it when I saw a drill bit smoking and thought to myself "that bit needs sharpening. I wonder how he does that?"
You might be dropping those from the content thinking it's boring and you've shown it all before. I'd encourage you to keep including those shots as a level set for viewers like me who might dream of doing something similar someday. This Old House never showed Norm sharpening his hand saw, but you did. Keep it up and keep it real. It's part of what drew me to your channel.

I started watching this channel towards the end of lockdown 1. I was searching RUclips for videos on different types of joints for wood. As a former sailor I took a look. I was hooked immediately, not just one one bit, but every aspect of the content. The craftsmanship, the artistry, entertainment value and the different characters involved is truly inspirational. I binged watched the first 80 odd episodes, mostly in the early hours due to not being a very good sleeper. I look forward to every two weeks and begin checking my notifications around Thursday or Friday.
Wouldn’t it be great if Leo was to continue making videos for this channel once he is afloat and share his voyages with his many followers.
Thanks for sharing up to now Leo, merry Christmas and happy new year to everyone
Oh, my beautiful wife bought me a Festool circular saw for Christmas after I showed her a snip of one the videos after someone had donated the same to Leo. I’m a lucky man.

Gotta say I'm relatively new to watching this project, having only climbed onboard about 50 episodes ago. Is been fun to see the progress of the work and as more people have gotten involved in it. I'm just a rank amateur home woodworker living in Kansas, but would love to have a chance to see this process up close. For now, I will continue to enjoy watching other people contributing to the effort while dreaming of the Pacific Northwest. Thanks for taking us along on the ride!

The subtle beauty present in the long winter days here. Thank you. I hope the beauty and spirit that the northwest is contributing to the Tally Ho is carried forward for many years to come. The way that craftsman think and problem solve, being adaptable, innovative and having the ability use or alter the tools on hand is and always has been a quality that I admired and one which I believe is underrated in our society today. I applaud the men and women craftsmen or craftspeople who do this everyday and teach/encourage their peers to strengthen their own skills. I have been following the project since it's inception and I am always blown away by the way Leo, Pete and the others take seemingly tedious tasks and focus upon them with the attention to detail that will suit this yacht well for decades. Kudos to all involved, as I said you certainly have my admiration.

The auto engine mechanic hit the nail on the head: the project is about more than Tally Ho. That larger meaning is what makes much of your success in having loyal patrons and building a team that changes but always learns and becomes more skillful even when doing the most mundane of chores. For true happiness, everyone needs to belong to something bigger than themselves - building something lasting provides that. Best wishes for health and continuing progress in the new year to your band of shipwrights. You should be finished in a couple of years.

I’d love to carve you some spoons to use in the kitchen or something too, but I’m sure you can do that yourself, and I’m sure sending scrap out to every nobody who asked would be a logistical nightmare. Watching that razor sharp plane peel the thin shaving on the corking bevel was amazing! Tally Ho is much more then a boat restoration. It has become a place to get away from all that is going on elsewhere.Old world skill practiced in the modern world! Add the modern use of materials, brinze bolts, copper rivets, etc. Tally Ho will last a century and more. The original craftspersons are wishing they had all the metalworking ability back in their day,for sure. Im 73 years old and could still do certain jobs if I was so inclined. If you were much closer to where I lived I certainly would be there to help in anyway i could. I would probably be penang rivitts or perhaps sharpening tools or making coffee or tea. I would do anything to be of help around a boat. I was once a sailor on destroyers for six years and I love the sea or anything to do with the sea. Really, once a sailor always a sailor.
