Rodrigo's Concierto Andaluz was commissioned by Celedonio Romero for himself and his three sons and first played in San Antonio, Texas, USA on 18 November 1967, and, of course, they did a superb LP recording on the Philips label which I have listened to many times.
However, I think this live performance is also superb! The sound quality is truly magnificent and the four guitarists, conductor Heinzel, and Philharmonie Merck are to be congratulated!
I know it’s called four guitars but can we take a minute to appreciate the violins 👏👏👏
I agree ; the violins 🎻 !
no
Perfection!
Magnifique !
This is a masterpiece of music, how I love this piece of J Rodrigo.
Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful! I have been looking for this music for 30 years. My daughter danced to it in a ballet concert and I have tried to find it ever since. Ah fulfilment! I love it. So emotional.
As a teenager, I was fortunate to hear the Romeros, live in concert, in Walla Walla. They did this fantastic piece, and I've loved it ever since. Thank you for the chance to hear it again!
The guitars performance paint a picture of the graceful horses that inevitably jump to my mind , while listening to this beautiful music! BELLISSIMO!
Caballos Pura Raza Andaluz
Beautiful concert. As you must know, this concert was written by Joaquin Rodrigo for Los Romero: Celedonio, the father, and his sons, Pepe, Angel and Celin Romero, and was played for the first time in San Antonio, Texas, in 1968. I heard a big part of this concert for the first time in a radio station in Santiago de Chile the year 1974, and for some time I didn't know the name of the concert until I was living in Caracas, Venezuela. Thanks a lot for this wonderful music
I see such an overflow of glowing appreciation in earlier comments!
There are so many that express my own joy in listening to this performance in far better words than I can offer.
And I must say that my great pleasure in listening is much enhanced by watching the guitarists and their pleasure as they play.
The camera operators deserve much credit for giving us such good views of the guitarists.
Thank you so VERY much to everyone who had any part in bringing this WONDERFUL performance to us.
All the accolades in these comments are richly deserved.
I fully intend to return again and again to watch and to listen.
If only I could have been at the front of the audience to add my applause to theirs!
Geat-Great Grand mother and father related to the Romero family..as were the Archuleta family so many years ago so many..
Gracias, Eduardo. España es tuya,
Simply exquisite A beautifully artistic tableau of graceful horses dancing to the passionate , yet soothing music! Absolutely engaging& lovely!🌷🥀⚘
Our father played the Spanish guitar and his favourite Guitarist was the Spanish guitarist Sergovia Andreas who played this exceptionally well
This concerto is perhaps better balanced that the aranjuez concerto. The four guitars seem to balance the orchestral sound perfectly well!! And the music is inspiring!!!
What a fantastic piece of writing, I have never heard of it until now. Such fun, a joy to the ear, and I am sure a pleasure to play. Bravo!!!
Mistrzostwo! Goraco polecam!

Wonderful! How much better the world is because of music like this.
Amazing, I heard it days ago on the radio, it made my day... what amazing music.
Same here! I heard it yesterday while driving and it immediately caught my attention.
Espectacular!!!!! Qué ganas de conocer España me dan. Algún día. Algún día.
Todo llega, todo llega. Cuestión de desearlo y proponérselo Su. Saludos desde España.
A great concerto by our J. Rodrigo. Usually overshow by his masterpiece, Then Aranjuez concerto. Great to get to see/listen to this marvelous concert that has "touches'" of the Aranjuez. Great performance by all four guitarists and the orchestra
Brilliant. Bravoooo! The 2nd movement is absolutely mesmerizing
This is truly a great piece of music, heard it for the first time when my wife played it on her guitar , back many years now, she was taught by Segovia
Hello,
Thank you very much for this beautiful concert !
Best wishes !
Jean-Charles Bourquin
P.d. Excelente trabajo de los 4 guitarristas
Sound of HEAVEN... from 4 classic guitars! And I wonder what kind o "beings" (or what...?) gave dislike? Really...
I prefer Andaluz to Aranjuez; & this continues to be the best rendition of Andaluz that I have ever heard.
Las moscas no pueden equivocarse
WOW!!!!!!!!!
Absolument extra !

The power of the musical language! Gorgeous !!!!
finally! the guitars way out front! Too often recordings, live or studio-based fail to give the quartet their due. This time--it is perfect!
Excelente, Magistralmente Ejecutada.
I've been listening to various soloists-- John WIlliams, Pepe Romero are both brilliant-- and I only recently learned that it was written for four guitars.
What a delight!
Its another concerto. What you are talking about is Aranjuez
Such delicious spanishness and so well played .
sublime!!
Maravillosa expresiòn del alma andaluza .
Essa música dispara uma dose de entusiasmo!
The end of an era of good music. The Concierto de Aranjuez by the Romeros is must.
Mil gracias.
Wonderful! I love this interpretation with the four guitars.
4 or mor?
Genial! Bravísimo.
The melodies touch your heart even deeper than the aranjuez concerto, the work showing a greater unity and evoking the passion that andulas was. And bravo to the orchestra and the guitarists!
Woow great recording! Absolutely amazing
I thought this was all part of Concerto Aranjuez- I forgot there was an Andaluz. I've been searching for that Adagio theme since my Dad had it on a continuous loop (Romeros) when I was a kid in the 70's.
Listening to the 2nd movement reminded me of the 9th century Andalusian love story between a poet from Cordoba, "Abdullah Ibn Zaidun", and an Umaweed princess "Walladah". Of how they fell in love, how he was arrested by the governor of Cordoba, how he sought to Seville, to live the rest of his life remembering her saying:
He bid farewell to patience, the one who bid farewell to you..
With the only known of his secret, is what is known to you...
Oh the kin of the moon, in bright and majesty...
God bless the time when you appeared...
If my nights become longer after you...
Oh, how I complained the shortness of my nights with you.
Bless my soul to Lord Jesus!!!
Great skills on the guitars. A pleasure to listen someone playing clean with great technical skills
Beautiful piece!
Nothing more to say than ole mr Rodrigo and guitar Badri
Sencillamente sublime
the bolero is a masterpiece!
What can you say, out of this world , wonderful, great musicians, all of them. Tanks for the post.
NO ADS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This just reminds me my school days mostly spent in the audio library.
@@Alvar2001 A Los Romeros
