What if it's revealed in storyline that Marty the Moth bought one of his friends (new debuting wrestler) from the terrorists to hold hostage just to fuck with Killshot? This would add so much depth to the feud since he already stole his Army dog tags

I think that's the point. Many gimmicks past and present were based on or inspired by something or someone else. What only seems original to us is a new rendition of something that has been seen or done before. It's more of a re-creation of characters
