For the 1x1 prints, there's also the fact that they are non-obvious prints, so having all white 1x1s have the print makes the build easier because there's no chance of using the wrong one

  • @neothermic1
    @neothermic1 4 месяца назад +50

The other reason they include only printed 1x1s for the engine cover bag is that they don't want to let you make the mistake of choosing the unprinted 1x1s for the bit that requires the printed ones, and to only realise after you've buried the printed ones into the assembly itself. This is the same reason why set 76906 (Ferrari 512M) contains 6 of the printed 1x1 plates when only two are visible when built. This is one of those building-experience-trumps-price moments that LEGO is good for.

I still can't believe how they couldn't recreate a fully straight profile, looks like the front nose is about to fall off, too bad! No tobacco advertisement is an EU law. From my understanding, you can't even race/display the classic cars with any type of tobacco branding. I think that's a bit ridiculous. I can see not allowing current cars to advertise, but certain cars are tied to their branding. Rothmans 956 is a good example.

What’s so weird is that Lego got it right on their first McLaren MP4, the one in the first 3 Model Team sets released in 1986.
No special wheels, just the same wheel but two per side on the front, 3 in the rear.
At least Lego should’ve thrown in two extra wheels to double up the rears if a one-off mound was too expensive.
Not it just ruins what is a fantastic model. They really dropped the ball here and I would love to ask the designer about this so badly.

Really disappointed the tires and wheels are 1 piece, I was looking forward to mixing and matching them with other rims and tires of that size. Is it me or does the engine cover look like a great start for a space shuttle?

Yeah, I can't look past those rear wheels. I might even display it without the wheels because the wishbones look good now

0:49 I open my boxes like that too! 😂 but with a ruler 📏… I prefer the taped ones though, I don’t like destroying the boxes

it´s always the same. LEGO produces sets that I, as a fan of whatever the model is about, am really looking forward to but since I´m a fan I just won´t buy it because of course those details like the skinny tires bother me. It´s so annoying, especially for the price.
When it comes to the Marlboro branding however: I get why they can´t do it but come on: MP4 stands for Marlboro Project 4 and the livery is designed to look like a pack of Marlboros.

This was the first thing that I noticed when they announced it at first. Why are the rears so skinny ? Like I know they are wide, always were

I give it a good 8 for the try, because all in all it is a good set, but it should cost 30 euros less. For that 80+ euro cost,
you should have made way better set what we got.

Does your fixing of the rear tire by any chance include the use of liquid resin? :)

Not this time, I'll try to quickly 3d print (with a filament printer) a mockup to see how it is supposed to look like

This is not a Senna mini figure because the helmet is missing a dark blue stripe below the green stripe.
The white print on the new red nose part is also pain in the eyes because the angle of the print is totally wrong.

I totally agree with your complaints, but to be honest I don’t care about them! I’m a huge F1 and Senna fan so I’ll take whatever I can get 😅 the fact this set even exists makes me happy

Doesn't the reference in the manual to the speed of removing the tyres refer to real life F1 tyres where the wheels are all integrated, rather than having a tyre that is added to the rim? Setting aside the size of the rear wheels, the actual composition of the one piece tyre is more accurate.

You mean doubling the rear wheels like this? - ruclips.net/video/9SEB9UjmZcc/видео.html
I think that's way too wide and looks funny, because you cannot put them in the proper position due to the rims.

Looks like the store you kindly linked doesn't ship to the UK. Shame. I will wait for a brick link mod with better sticker sheet before purchasing I think. How could they also miss the iconic 45 degree integration of the white to red on the nose cone. That is as stand out as the skinny rear tyres in my opinion. Now if only they did red 5 and the Porsche 917

perhaps they should do the Jean Louis Schlesser Williams Judd from Monza, being as that was who Senna tangled with whilst lapping him, meaning McLaren didn't win every race in 1988, of course a gift for Ferrari, especially after the passing of Enzo Ferrari the month before
