- Happy first birthday to this gorgeous Escondido installation!
I’m here today to check it out before we tear in next week.
Thought you would all enjoy seeing it before we do the annual maintenance.
I remember this location, it’s so educational to have your thoughts as you walk through and tell us what you see. Looking forward to the maintenance video, missed you but glad you got some quality relaxation time!

Thank you for coming back. Winter here in Finland and not much to do. You're inspiring me to ease my homesickness.
This garden is stunning!
I was in Catalina last week and I told my bf that I thought I saw one of my fave RUclipsrs on a golf cart....didn't think anything of it until you mentioned your cruise and I'm pretty sure we were on the same one! I also told him that my garden is inspired by your channel 🥰
That is awesome!
Such beautiful succulents ❤❤❤
Thank you for sharing Laura
Laura, would you consider putting together a plant list of succulents that will work in colder zones? I am in zone 5/6 and there is a neighborhood nearby of Spanish style houses. They all have turf lawns, maple trees and yew hedges, which look pretty silly. Our nurseries carry a small selection of sedums and hen and chicks, but that is not enough to achieve your look. Are there other options for northern climates?
Escondido is zone 10a. Very, very few succulents can handle down to zone 5. I live nearby in zone 10b. Even some of mine would die in 10a during a 25 degree winter night because we’re more coastal.
Colin. For colder climate, try sempiverums, cooler climate aloe such as spiral aloe, sensevia, aeoniums, gasteria, gasteraloe and definitely Haworthias.
Planters filled with succulents can be placed strategically in the landscape. This gives a beautiful impact without a huge expense. You can decide what works best in the planters for your microclimate. The more succulents in the planter, the less chance of over watering from rain, for example. I find, in Florida it's easier to control and maintain planters than an entire landscape of succulents. I bought a couple Talavera planters online and placed them along the foundation.
I missed you 😭, I'm so happy you're back! 😍
