Back in the day, characters would occasionally show up to an attraction (typically in Fantasyland) and randomly choose a family to ride with, and it was considered a "magical moment." It was eventually phased out, and nowadays they only ride with people for special occasions (such as the Make A Wish foundation).
Well that's part of the problem unfortunately. When more and more people started demanding that they should get a chance to ride with characters, Disney had to stop doing it.
Oh man. That sucks. 😭 😭 😭 Well there goes the whole hoping to ride with the characters in the future one day when or if I can finally get the chance to go to Disney World and Disneyland.
