i love shemaghs. i got one from a surplus store and while practicing tying it, i got cold and i put it on my lap and it kept me warm. i bring it everywhere. its my best friend, like a kid with his fav. blankie. i have a spiritual connection to it.
One question.....do the glasses fog? I'm going to be hunting soon and I want to get one of these to keep my face warm and I'd like to have glasses to block some of the sun
Hey i'm a muslim and i am actually also of bangladeshi origin, I just want to apologise for having to read what that 'islam bangladesh' dude said about the Shemagh, please don't think muslims act similar to this.. obviously they are a 'hater' without logic..I live in UK n wear a shemagh to the mosque when I pray and I love when I see non-muslims wearing it, there's so many ways to wrap it and the point you made about the beach made me laugh. Anyway as a muslim I just wanted to show good manners
I bought some linen fabric from a local fabric store. A little more expensive, but more durable and evaporates well to keep me cool. They wear linen a lot I guess near the equator, Mexico, south America. I bought a 48 by 52 inch piece, and it works great as is, but I plan on hemming the edges so it won't unravel, and maybe use the extra material to make tagin (sp?) tassels. You can definitely make these on your own, all you need is a big square of light cotton or linen, maybe even hemp.
Thanks man! I'm going to a airsoft tournament and bought a shemagh but couldn't figure out how to tie it. This is the best style I've seen so nice job! Also, what are the dimensions of the one you have in this vid?
Cool man, thanks for the reply. Since it got cold here too I started wearing mine running as a scarf too. It works great since it's so breathable yet still kind of warm. People don't care as long as you don't wear it like you're going to rob a bank.
Hey man, thanks for showing this method. Has anyone ever said anything negative about it to you in public? I have one but I'm kind of afraid to wear it,lol.
Most people in Iraq BEGGED to be liberated. Shemaghs are great for camo, keeping debris out of your eyes and face, keeping you warm OR cool, and they just look neat. I don't take much stock in what people in the middle east do with theirs, like I said, some gang members use bandannas to signify their gang colors, I just use them as rags. Thanks for sharing your opinion and the info!
Hey Kingmanted I wore mine today on my walk to school due to negative degree weather. I got some looks but no one harassed me and honestly I wouldn't have cared if someone had said something to me. It keeps my face warm and works a hell of a lot better than a scarf. Although you shouldn't walk into a store with it on. Take it off once your indoors and just keep a beanie handy.
I bought mine from an Army Navy store, but you can buy them anywhere that sells military/tactical gear. LAPoliceGear, OPSGEAR, Amazon, even BladeHQ. Depending on where you buy it will determine the color/pattern. Also, the countries of origin differs, and the size differs. Most are 42"x42" Some of 41"x43" but it doesn't really matter. Also, the knit is tighter in some than others. So some you get will be real soft, and others will be more "cloth" like.
You can play around with the area above the glasses, to vent. Or put the shemagh over your nose, and lay the bridge of the glasses over that, that should help. Other than that, they make some goggles and glasses that are anti-fog, and they also make anti-fog glasses spray :)
Great vid! The place I like to shoot is really dusty and sandy. I'm gonna wear my shemagh next time...hopefully it'll help keep the sand and dust out of my face and mouth. Thanks!
Just how bandannas are only used to signify what gang you're in. They may USE shemaghs as you described, but that's not why they were invented. They were for men who worked cattle, it was to keep the sun and sand out of their face and keep them cooler. The US military use them for the same reason, they don't view themselves as "liberators"
Thank you!! And it should, I know the U.S. special forces and private contractors will use this method sometimes to keep the sand out of their face :) So I hope it helps you too!
No problem! And I've never worn it in public, I've only worn it outside when I'm doing some yard work when it's really cold :) I don;t blame you, people these days are pretty closed minded.
al the ways that u didt it from iraq ?! have u been there or war and also the scarf the color its from south of iraq , each color mean to something just 2 kno arabic guy from IRAQ
it's not tied to any religions, it was first used by the Iraqis and has been in use by many Arabic people and also the British army has been using shemaghs for decades.
I just got a good quality shemaugh and enjoy learning how to use. To those thinking of trying one out I would say go buy a cheap one for five bucks and see if it works for you. Then get a better quality one that will last.Don't be put off by the tassels.Somehow they look good when you wrap it on.Not feminine at all when worn by a man.
Wow that's crazy! I can't believe so many people watched this video and still get recommended! I had no clue when I uploaded this video, I was 19 years old and had no idea what I was doing, lol. Luckily, RUclips was still fairly new and people (like myself) could get away with uploading crap content lol!
+CuteZergling01 I mess around with leaving gaps around the nose or eyes, that helps. They also sell anti-fog spray you can spray the lenses with, or you can spit on the lens a little, that actually works pretty well
I appreciate your comment, and I know he's just one of "those" guys who is a hater and just has to leave a rude, ignorant comment. I know he doesn't represent all Muslims by any means :) Thank you again, and God bless.

theres a lady who's sure......all that glitters is gold.
Nice of you to share this info man. I use my Shemagh in winter heaps when riding the pushy. Cuts the wind right back and makes things bearable.
Very good, I'll use that method when on a motorcycle in 90+ heat here in Texas.
Yeah Sherman that face wrap method really covers your whole face even better with the cool shades lol.
Again very good demonstration. I think I can do it myself. I will go practice. Thanks again.

Thanks for the upload.
It looks really comfortable. Thanks.
Is there any chance you can do a tutorial on how to wrap a Yemeni/Omani/U.A.E. shemagh style. If you can, it would be greatly appre ited.
Great video, you earned a subscriber

@troy5690
I can imagine it being very useful while riding, keeping that cold wind off of your face.
Thank you for commenting!

Amazon . com has a lot of them at pretty good prices, and in all different colors

i did this for my ronavirus costco run and got nothing but stares lmao
same here , always leaving my face coverings in other coats . so bought one of these ,
Don’t worry there’s nothing wrong with it only ignorant people do that
Do you grow your hair in case of an emergency you can cut it and use it to tie something or sewing?
James Kelsch Tourniquet actually, but good guess!
Great vid! The place I like to shoot is really dusty and sandy. I'm gonna wear my shemagh next time...hopefully it'll help keep the sand and dust out of my face and mouth. Thanks!
Great way of doing it!
Yes, I do know how to wear one, thank you fr pointing that out :)
Did you come up with that method yourself?
Finally I have found the best face wrap to protect from covid19.
Excellent! I'm gonna use this style when I airsoft.
haha mate i'm gonna do this next time i go hiking with my friends, thanks!
What kind of glasses are those?
Sometimes, if it's tight. You can buy anti-fog wipes or spray to put on your glasses/goggles though
Due to this video you have a new subscriber! Thank you :D
I'm not sure of the thickness, but a typical shemagh is usually 42"x42"
cool method , thanks :)
Is there a way to keep the glasses from fogging up? If so, how?
It doesnt fog up your glasses?
i think it's XCO they make a shemagh that's flame resistant and anti-microbial $35 is a little expensive but it's US made and pretty cool
How can I get it so the knot doesn't come apart?
thanks bro, really helped me!
LOL, I myself have no problem with long hair, but the "great in cold climates" defense is a little thin when you're referring to a pony tail.
Thanks so much, helped a lot

from Germany :D
Thank you!!

sherman614 would you recommend a shemagh with or without the little whisps on the edgeds? Or is it no big deal just wondering
I think cutting the hair would enhance the best effective shemagh wrap.
Most excellent and informative video. I thank you. 3-1-2016
Thats so cool im going to sub
There are different ways to drape it so that it covers your neck, it's not as linear as you make it out to be.
Although I will say some brands feel like they have a tighter weave than others, so some feel more durable than others.
It's mostly woven cotton I have never seen one rip before, and mine are all very strong and have held up for years
thank you soo much this is awesome
What kind of material is it?
i like the kings of leon in the back ground 1 of my fav bands
i am able to tie a pair of my gym pants on like a shemagh if that counts... lol. i also do all my reviews on one
No problem!
And I've never worn it in public, I've only worn it outside when I'm doing some yard work when it's really cold :) I don;t blame you, people these days are pretty closed minded.
Yeah was just going to ask, don't your glasses or goggles steam up?
awesome videos.. i subscribed
does it fog up glasses?
I mean you don't HAVE to, but this wrap was based around a piece of material the size of a shemagh (42" x 42")
Very effective for withdrawing money while at the bank. I dont even have to present my atm card half the time.
whats the name of that shemagh? or where can u buy that spacific one at?
its made by rothco. you can buy them almost anywhere online. cheapest prices will most likely be at amazon.com
Thank you nice video
al the ways that u didt it from iraq ?! have u been there or war and also the scarf the color its from south of iraq , each color mean to something just 2 kno

it's not tied to any religions, it was first used by the Iraqis and has been in use by many Arabic people and also the British army has been using shemaghs for decades.
I think the british SAS method is the best imo

@Tardisius
One of the greatest bands of all time! ;)
That's like saying sand is only for Muslims in the middle east, not black or white Christians at a beach in the US or Europe.
I have the same stairway to heaven poster in the back
@6HARIS
Thank you! And it's my CRKT Minimalist :)
how do you keep your sunglasses from steaming up ?
+CuteZergling01 I mess around with leaving gaps around the nose or eyes, that helps. They also sell anti-fog spray you can spray the lenses with, or you can spit on the lens a little, that actually works pretty well
Thanks mate !
CuteZergling01 No problem!
What shemagh is that
Rahhhhhhhhhh put it back on
I appreciate your comment, and I know he's just one of "those" guys who is a hater and just has to leave a rude, ignorant comment. I know he doesn't represent all Muslims by any means :) Thank you again, and God bless.
VERY Cool!!
It may be, I'm not sure. I've only heard it pronounced "Shemog"
They smell great when they're new.
They are just a pair of cheap sun glasses, I think I got them at Wal-mart
This would work great for duck hunting. Cut's glare off your face without paint and will protect from wind burn.
