I understand that brand new fabrics have something added to them in the factory (like sizing) so they look nice on the bolt, but it washes out in the first wash, so you must prewash your fabric before you begin this process and the ink will be much more likely to be permanent. Also, iron the fabric after it comes out of the printer in order to set the ink into the fabric. Use a press cloth or a sheet of regular printer paper to keep any ink from getting on your iron, or smearing across your label sheet. then flip your label cloth over and iron it on the back as well.
For those wondering or having issues with the color bleeding or fading, try soaking your labels in white vinegar! After they’ve printed and dried, place them on a cookie sheet (one sheet at a time), let them sit and soak in the white vinegar for about 5 minutes, allow them to dry completely before using and done!
I was just going to ask if you could iron the wax side of the paper over the print and if that would help but this vinegar idea is awesome. I will try.
OMG I have been trying to figure out how to do this for ages. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!Your explanation made it perfectly clear. Every Tutorial I've ever seen never explained how to do it with wax paper. I was always left confused about where to buy the type of paper they were using. I feel like I just hit the jackpot. Lol Thank you again! You are a great teacher! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Hi I know how you're feeling. I was sending messages to everyone I watched on YT and no one ever reponded. I havent tried this yet, but once I am done gathering my materials, I am going to use this to personalize my work.
I have to say this is an excellent idea.I spent money on transfer paper, and it didnt work. After i seen your material i didnt have that freezer paper in house so i used thermal paper the one im using to print shipping labels (A6 i made small squares) and it works.Thank you for sharing your material, really useful.
Thank you so much for this video. I just made 4 sheets of it this evening. Luckily, I had the wax paper, white high quality cotton fabric and the computer software. They turned out terrific. Now for the vinegar tip.
I just tried this and I am very pleased. I have two gifts to give soon from "Uncle" and my normal "made-by" labels are not personal enough. Thank you for this tip!
Thanks! I used pay for my labels to be made. Now I can make them at home! And I used wax paper instead it still came out perfect. Thanks so much for sharing!
This has been so helpful. This video has saved me some money as I was ready to purchase transfer paper and ribbon. I already have all of the materials. Thank you.
The ink/printing is more permanent if printed on PFD fabric or you can pre-treat your own natural cotton or silk fabric with "BubbleJet" following instructions on label. (PFD: Prepared For Dying -- HTHs).
Thank you for sharing your talents. I have been looking on how to make my own labels on fabric, thank you very much. Great instructions, very easy to follow.
What a great idea. I could see this method working for fabric dolls' faces too. Could either leave them as-is, or use the printed design as a template to embroider over. Thanks, you've got my mind working now!
That was awesome! Thanks for sharing you're tutorials, they are very informative. You are so crafty and economical it's a pleasure watching all your videos. Much Love sent from the USA, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Thanks. I always wanted to try this but not sure that I could be successful. You method seems very easy to do. I will definitely try it. Ann from Va. USA 🇺🇸
Thanks for this. My daughter is a Graphic Design student and has all the fun programs to do vector graphics. We may have to give this a try on the Christmas break.
There is a product called Inkpress Image Guard which is a spray-on and is a water resistant coating for inkjet printed images. it is made by Inkpress Digital Media and is available online.
Textile medium will make the ink in your labels more durable. After you printed add a layer of medium, let it dry and iron it. You can add more layer of medium.
Brilliant idea, thank you so much. Great way to do these for my grand children with their own name on when I make them something. - also great for marking PE kits & coats. xx
Love this video !! Thank you it was very helpful wonder if I can make the printer paper and ask a person in public places to use my personal freezer paper to print
Great and helpful video! Just thinking out loud here but I wonder if spraying it with Scotchgard at the end would help keep the ink from fading when the garment is washed. Anybody know?
Julie M I’m thinking of trying this method using waterproof spray to stop any smudging and fading? Could you please let me know if you were successful thanks 🙏
I use these, and use a weak dye to colour the label to match the item! My black ink is washproof but the colour washes straight out even after heat setting.
hi I love your tutorials! as someone new to crochet I find them very easy to follow! could you please do a tutorial on corner to corner crochet using different colours of wool too? please! thank you!
Wow, this is amazing! Thanks so much :D Would you happen to know how well these labels hold up in the wash? As in, do they fade quickly or not? AND, do I have to use an ink jet printer, or do laser work with this technique as well?? So many questions, sorry!!
Laser printer should work too, although haven't tested it myself, as for holding up in the wash, I've washed them a few times and they have been ok, they will fade over time just like normal labels do, but best to experiment first before sewing on to your project as all wash cycles and inks vary!
@@HappyBerryCrochet You are so HUMBLE. Your voice is so soft and a pleasure to listen to. Thanks for this great information. So precious and very helpful. I have two laser printers. So funny, coz I purchased 2 boxes of Reynolds wax paper for my candles and here I have another "fun hobby". Thanks for sharing caring and making me smile 🥰. A big hug from France 👍👍👍💐💐💐 STAY SAFE 😷
This would be so amazing to make like photo blankets by quilting or something along those lines... Now I'm planning a gift for my grandmother in the future... 0_0
Well as a graphic/web designer by trade I recommend designing a logo that works for everything you need such as business cards, websites etc etc, what works on one platform may not sit well on another, keep it clean and simple, avoid overly fancy text so it scales down well and try and choose something that you can grow with/is timeless. Hope that helps a little!
I used Fireworks, which is similar to Photoshop, but you can probably use any design software you have, as long as you use/save as vector graphics. This means your logo can be scaled up or down without losing quality. I hope that helps a bit.
Julie Zoom silicone tends to be heat resistant so I don't think it would stick to the fabric. Wax paper really has to be used because the irons heat makes the wax from the paper stick to the fabric

Hey Laura. Fab tutorial. Thank you! I have silicone coated paper. Would that work??
