This person has most all the 'big boys', and rare things that we all dream about. The hunt for them especially in great condition is part of the fun! Then if you find one you need the $$$. I have stumbled on some very nice pieces for a reasonable amount. I have three points. Not all of us have the money, not all of us have the display space, and there are many, many components off the radar that are every bit as good. That's where l sit. I'm extremely proud of what l've accumulated! A last thing. Use it! Don't just light it up.

Those of us who own such wonderful gear as most, realize how valuable in saving and caring for such vintage gems! Now with your channel, we are seeing some awesome collections, and pieces many have never seen. I was one of the lucky ones serving in Japan 1977-78 and went to many HIFI Shops in Tokyo. Those were the days seeing the Pioneer section, the Marantz section, the Sansui section, and Kenwood, Technics etc. Sound rooms to check the speakers out. Even on the military bases in japan had great Audio shops/rooms where I bought many pieces in the day. Now with prices going sky high, its hard to pickup additional pieces for a good price. Who caused this... Lenny?????? Great job!

i was there(Japan) in 73 and was amazed with what i saw ,and went there with a japanese friend who knew where to go i was amazed ,i remenber seeing some speakers that were from the floor till the ceiling and two meters large ,they had some powerfull 250 watts of power at 8 ohms, and it looked like a piece of furniture to put our clothes but with excessive height, the front grill had to be taken by two litle men and worked wood like if it was a art work with cloth behind ,the brand i don´t remenber but they were old at the time, just don´t remenber what they told me when asked how to take them from inside the store or to put them inside ,it looked like they were putted there before building the front wall with a litle window ,the store wasn´t that big

EV in the 70s had a very good 2 way horn system with 15" and horn driver and a comfortable sound. Altec Lansing was more for professional. The EV with the pipe in the woofer with passive radiator was quite an interesting smaller speaker. Understated are the Koss 1s, Epicure, Braun (I really dislike the owner of the patriots), the original Boothroyd Meridian amplifiers and preamplifiers...Best was the Yamaha Centennial Collection and it's now priced out of sight as the older systems such as the Pioneer 20 series is an example and technics Table from the SP-02 (look it up) but Doug Sax uses the SP-10mk2 with Epa-100 and one of their best cartridges an all measurements crushed competition with the Stanton 981 signature

    • @SurnaturalM

I had EV-7 speakers. They were heavy, 12 inches speaker, alnico, with horn. There was another model with normal speaker which sounded also very good. I repainted them with varnish and did the front grill with new material, while preserving the original look. They were beautiful.

For me, it's not about the power. It's about the quality. I take great care and pride in the work I do. You have different approaches and I respect that because it's about what you enjoy. I've recently took my separate system appart, and rebuild them with better, more reliable parts, and after almost 50 years, it was time. It's better than when it left the factory all these years ago. I hear the difference, and it's huge. I do this with every audio device I have. So it's good for another 50 years, and my kids and grandkids will be able to use them as well. Both my daughters are into audio, they love music. It's important to transmit our passion.

Stunning. My faves are the PL90 TT (without a doubt, I have never even seen one in the flesh) and the Phase Linear tuner. The Sony items, the receiver and the separates, were also interesting. This is awesome. I love the Elite LD player. I accidentally won a Pioneer CLD 900 player on eBay about 15 years ago. I really enjoy watching movies on it no matter how good or poor the transfer. I was so mesmerized by the format in the early 90s when Camelot records in the mall I went to suddenly had an ld movie section. My friend and I went through them for about an hour when I first noticed. I got some Series iii Bose 301s at Goodwill in near mint condition for 48 bucks a few months ago. They pair beautifully with my Klipsche Icons hooked up to my kinda budget end Yamaha amp from 2003. I also have all my gear except my cassette deck, which usually run through a djm 900 mixer. So excuse this long comment, but that leads me to a question 🤔 I use my mixer as a preamp so I crank my Yamaha up not far from below max volume and them adjust the volume with the faders on the mixer. Does this make any difference than just running it through the amp and adding the volume that way?

I live in a apartment, I can't just build anything I want. But if I could I would opt for a Pioneer sx780 on two Bose 301v . It's the lowest power one I can think of off hand with the flip switch power and the wattage meters. That's all I need with a record player and line in from this computer with a large music folder.

@@LennyFlorentine Good eye! I instantly recognized the 500C. When my dad passed in 2015, I inherited the whole mammoth sized wooden furniture console, with the 500C in near mint condition! The console had custom speakers from Fisher circa the early to mid 60's too. The 500C was used occasionally while growing up in dad's house (he never let me or my brothers touch it), mostly on family gatherings on holidays, and on occasional Sundays! It still turns on and works, however I decided to never turn it on again until I get it checked out and/or brought up to date with replacment caps, diodes, etc. just to make sure it is normally operational. I remember back in the 80's, when dad was at work, I hooked up my Magnepans and my Polk Audio Monitor 10's to his 500C, and the sound was glorious! If only he knew! R.I.P. dad.

Technics was the brand of matsushita/Panasonic if I'm not mistaken. But they did indeed had some high end equipment, I don't remember how it was called, it was all separate, like the kenwood 700m, and it was beautiful and very high quality stuff. I still have my old SL-1200 MK2, I think the cd sound better, but I like my old record too. It's written on it "Technics by Panasonic". They made great stuff.
And you're right, these speakers are absolutely amazing, original design that you recognise instantly. There's so many different, and good stuff. The harder thing is to be able to know when to stop.

I to like different colors, so very much like adding Audio timers, Power conditioner (Monster w/ turquoise blue), ect. Most people do the wall, I like to set up different systems through-out my residence, so have 6 set-up (some only 10 ft apart) 19 pairs of speakers. And still not enough room, so 3 closets filled up. It is an addiction. My 2 cents, own 19 FM Tuners and that Sansui TU 717 is one of my favorites for sound quality (Better than Pioneer TX 9500 MKII) the 917 has that stupid ass digital read out. The only thing better that I own is a Accuphase T101. Blew it on 2 others, could have bought a Sansui X1 for 1500 and a Yamaha CT7000 for 750 slip thru my fingers.

The pitch of his voice is tolerable in this video 😁
But i guess he drinks too much coffee or just overdosed on hifi on some.
Please 🙏 I have B&W804 and class D amp. So high pitched voice is really not down toned 😂

You should see my wife's reaction to my vintage Hi-Fi AND Amateur/Shortwave radios collection! Ham Radios and receivers everywhere, including our china cabinet that I have co-opted for some gear!

Personally, I never liked the look of vintage gear
In my opinion, the technology, design and components that exist today are much supririor
but let's put my opinion aside,. In your videos I noticed that you mostly focuse on the appearance and not the sound qulity

Love it all…accept your shirt…don’t stand behind a company that supports murderers proudly.
Love the personal collection visits, can imagine there are so many folks out there with amazing collections to see.
