XCOM® 2: War of the Chosen, is the expansion to the 2016 award-winning strategy game of the year.
XCOM® 2: War of the Chosen adds extensive new content in the fight against ADVENT when additional resistance factions form in order to eliminate the alien threat on Earth. In response, a new enemy, known as the “Chosen,” emerges with one goal: recapture the Commander. This expansion includes new Hero classes to counter the “Chosen”, new enemies, missions, environments and increased depth in strategic gameplay.
    NEW FACTIONS & HERO CLASSES
Three additional factions have emerged to strengthen Earth's resistance - the Reapers, Skirmishers and Templars - each with its own unique abilities and contrasting philosophies. These factions provide powerful hero class soldiers to aid in missions and new opportunities for the strategy layer.
    THE CHOSEN
The Chosen are the most cunning enemies XCOM has ever faced, each with unique strengths and weaknesses that will be introduced with each new campaign. The Chosen are on the hunt for the Commander and will kidnap, interrogate, and kill XCOM’s soldiers to complete their objective. The Chosen can also invade the strategy layer and ravage XCOM’s global operations. Find and raid the Chosen’s strongholds to defeat the enemy for good.
    NEW ALIEN & ADVENT THREATS
A deadly new alien known as the Spectre, capable of creating dark copies of XCOM soldiers, has snuck onto the battlefield. Adopt new tactics to counter it as well as the explosive attacks of the ADVENT Purifier and the psionically charged ADVENT Priest.
    NEW ENVIRONMENTS AND MISSION OBJECTIVES
Engage in tactical missions across new environments from abandoned cities devastated by alien bioweapons during the original invasion, to underground tunnels and xenoformed wilderness regions.
    ENHANCED STRATEGY LAYER
Manage XCOM’s relations with factions and counter The Chosen’s operations from the Avenger. Employ new Resistance Orders to prioritize your personal strategy. Soldiers, scientists, and engineers can now be deployed for Covert Actions that award supplies and boost faction favor if successfully completed.
    GREATER CUSTOMIZATION & REPLAYABILITY
Soldiers can develop bonds with compatible teammates for new abilities and perks. The SITREP system dynamically adds new modifiers to the tactical layer to make sure every mission provides a unique challenge. Advanced campaign options allow for finer adjustments to game length and difficulty.
    CHALLENGE MODE
Utilize the perfect strategy in new regular one-shot community challenges to claim the top spot on the global leaderboard.
    SHARE THE RESISTANCE
Customize and pose your soldiers, then add filters, text and backgrounds to generate your own unique resistance posters that appear in-game and can be shared with friends.
XCOM 2: The Story So far - Earth has changed. Twenty years have passed since world leaders offered an unconditional surrender to alien forces. XCOM, the planet's last line of defense, was left decimated and scattered. Now, in XCOM 2, the aliens rule Earth, building shining cities that promise a brilliant future for humanity on the surface, while concealing a sinister agenda and eliminating all who dissent from their new order.
Only those who live at the edges of the world have a margin of freedom. Here, a force gathers once again to stand up for humanity. Always on the run, and facing impossible odds, the remnant XCOM forces must find a way to ignite a global resistance, and eliminate the alien threat once and for all.

Bradford being Bradford again. Can't let that dead general get to the evac!
Maybe he thought since there are so many lost, the general would become one and still run to evac!

    • @TapCat
      @TapCat  7 месяцев назад +4

Yeah, that made no sense to me at all. Was kind of a bummer because I was more than ready to evac after he was killed and wasn't going to stress about the enemies we would have been leaving behind. Would have saved us a ton of grief, but it was not to be.

"No respite for the dead" as Bradford says! Maybe he was counting on one of Sectoids resurrecting the Field Commander so he could limp to the evac zone? Just a theory :D

This mission is a perfect example of why positioning is so important, and why enemies that reposition you can cause so many knock-on difficulties!

    • @TapCat
      @TapCat  7 месяцев назад +1

I agree. This was a mission where positioning choices were critical. I was very happy with some of my choices and very unhappy with others. I'm convinced I could have avoided most of the damage if I had done a better job of that, although it would have made the video longer and probably less entertaining (if more informative).

    *On the Skyranger*
    Wei: 🤔
Marina: "What are you thinking about?"
Wei: "Something is bothering me about that last mission"
Marina: "Is it the fact we had to stay and keep fighting after killing the General?"
Wei: "Nah, I already know that"
Marina: "You do? Tell me please"
Wei: "They need to extract his chip for the Intel, but also Shen likes collecting the helmets for the wall" 🪖
    Marina: 😧
*Marina realizes why they have a trophy wall*
Marina: "Well then were you wondering what Heather was saying while you were on fire?" 🔥
    Wei: "No West told me"
Marina: "He did? Then why was she saying your name?"
Wei: "She wasn't saying my name 'Wei Wu' she was saying 'Wee Whoo' like a fire truck siren to gets Wests attention during the firefight so he could put me out"
    Marina: "Ohhhh" 😲
    *Wei still in thought*
Marina: "Is it the Advent Chisen agents follwing us on every mission?"
Wei: "Nope, Central was pretty clear that they are hunting us."
*Marina then begins to get a little impatient*
Marina: "So what is bothering you?"
Wei: "I guess I can trust you"
    *Wei gets close*
Wei: "So remember when we were back to back fighting off wave after wave of Lost"
Marina: "Yeah, it was pretty intense but-"
Wei: "-So you saw what I saw right?!"
    Marina: "I mean maybe-"
Wei: "-After so many fights together one thing should be clear to both of us"
    *Wei gets even closer*
    Marina: 😳
Wei: "Just like the Sectoids, The Lost don't wear pants either, but the real question is why?"
    Marina: "What?!"
Wei: "Maybe the Commander knows" 🤔
Marina: "Suddenly your Standard combat intelligence score makes so much more sense" 😑
*Remember folks, if you're gonna be dumb, you better be tough*
(Side note: Call back to Ep 5 on Sectiods not having pants)
I would think that you would get the option to extract the Generals body to self extract since you killed him first, but way to hang in there after our guys missed SO MANY shots against the Lost in front of Advent, I definitely get a little triggered in those moments because its like "Of all the times to miss my 80 & 70 percenters back to back" but the important thing is we survived 😁

    • @TapCat
      @TapCat  7 месяцев назад +1

Why do I get the sense that Wei moving closer to Marina in at least two "episodes" carries more than one meaning?
The misses were a little rough. I believe there was one time when I followed up a 91% miss with an 87%. Painful to say the least.

I'm starting to feel bad for your luck on these lost missions. I'm sure the tables will turn, and it'll be Sykens turn.
All things considered, 18 days for the worst of it isn't terrible. I think one of the mods is helping there. I feel like in vanilla that would have been 30 days or so.
As you stated, certainly not your best tactically, but everyone is alive to fight another day, and the promotions make it worthwhile in the long run.
I appreciate you being your own worst critic, and offer a kindly reminder (to us viewers) that this IS XCOM, and no player is infallible, not even you and Syken.
Still rooting for you guys, so dont take it so hard (not that you guys need to hear that from me or anyone else).
I'm looking forward to when those tables have turned and Syken gets these awkward missions and you get the 20 minute "in-and-outs" (not likely with this mod pack, but I'll hope anyway).
I'll go tactically retreat behind that full cover like button, which I'm sure XCOM will magically reduce to half cover.
Cheers. Looking forward to the rest of the series.

Thanks, I get annoyed with myself in the moment when I know that I've made a bone-headed play but I don't usually let it stay with me for long. Regarding the lost... I don't want to spoil anything but make sure you watch the end of Syken's next mission to see what I end up with... it's pretty killer.

Unlucky that you were 1 day away from mag weapons, which would have made so many problems in this mission a non-issue. When I saw the field commander go down I was like all "oh this looks like an easy mission", then I saw there were still 50 minutes left in the video...
