If you're trying to just get the 1 kill for the diary and having trouble with the jad phase because you're new to switching prayers on specific ticks, the thing that i did to get through it (and the next few kills i tried afterwards) was to simply eat through the phase. Don't attack the boss, just leave mage pray on (to block 50% of dps from zulrah and the minions damage) and eat food when you get hit and go back to doing the kill normally after zulrah starts to switch phases again. This is not a sustainable tactic but it's good practice for tunneling onto one aspect of yourself while in the fight and it's good to use when you'd otherwise be panicking. I pretty much did this until i had all the rotations memorized and knew when the jad phase would be happening and what to pray. Another helpful thing to recognize is that the jad phase will *always* be a GREEN zulrah and you need to start with RANGED pray up when it appears on the WEST side and start with MAGE pray up when it appears on the EAST side.

The Auto Retaliate sample was just an example of what u can do to minus some clicks while still attempting to do dmg without overwhelming urself with more clicks when u need to focus on prayer n positioning.. Another quick tips, have less gear to swap everytime zulrah switches phases.. Or.. you know... practice killing Jad himself and then Zulrah's "Jad" phase will feel like it's too easy (because it can't one hit you from full to dead like Jad can when you mess up)
Dude I watch videos and it looks so easy and the second I hopped in to try, Zulrah had to have moved like 15 phases in the first 10 seconds (or so it felt). I can't even take a second or two to look at the rotation guide because Zulrah had already moved by the time I could figure out what to do, and I would have already taken 60+ damage. The issue for me isn't switches or praying, but where to stand to avoid the gas because it just happens way too fast.
I felt the same. What helped me was focussing on prayer switches and moving to the correct position. Don't even bother with attacking zulrah for the first 10 (or 20) attempts.

2 years later, and here i am looking to do my first Zulrah...following guide after guide and dying. couldn't get that kill...and I was about to give up, when i found your video....everything changed. I watched your video, next kill, got my first Zulrah kill. outstanding video. it calmed me a bit, because I too was frustrated. the biggest change i made was my switches. i reduced it to 3. ranged weapon, arma chestplate and anguish. got the accuracy i needed and killed Zulrah before his 6th appearance. i felt calm, composed and in control. thank you very much for this video. top notch.
my biggest tip is do not use the huge rotation chart people tout in their zulrah guides for your first few kills it's too easy to get lost in the chart and get smacked while you're not paying attention to the fight the better you understand zulrah's mechanics the easier the fight will get, and only looking at a chart really doesn't help you learn why, it only shows you where
I just got my first kill very clutch after a lot of attempts. I found doing it early in the day helped me stay more focused. Also I found it easier to memorise 1 rotation (I chose 3 that starts with range). After the first phase is over you have time to log out before being attacked if it's not the rotation you want. When you log in, you return by the boat without using any supplies and can try again and repeat ect. After the last phase, it will restart with a new rotation but by that point Zulrah is almost dead and it's more manageable. Thanks for your help with these other tips @JosephsPlace
I had 4 tabs open next to my client, each with a guide for a different rotation. As soon as I knew which rotation I had I’d click over and press play. I had the guide about 3-5 seconds ahead of myself so I could hear what to pray and where to walk.
Honestly going in with nothing but food and armour and the first 3 steps of each rotation helped me a lot. I just focused on where to stand and staying alive. Then once i was confident i knew what to do i took in just a trident. Got a fee kills then added a blowpipe, a second switch, ect. This took a while but this is how i did it
Thanks for this guide, i was following other guides, and i killed Zulrah on my first attempt. But what you find is you'll be very inconsistent and i died twice after my first kill and I'm now on 5 kills with 5 deaths. This guide really helped me because it goes into a bit more detail on how to do certain things and avoid certain things. My thing was the melee phase, I didn't understand when I was supposed to move, but your video clearly shows as soon as Zulrah faces you in melee phase, you move at this point. Other guides don't describe this. Nice one mate!

Thanks so much for this video, I was feeling super discouraged after a lot of failed attempts but your video helped. I don’t ever boss but needed to get one kill for Western hard diaries. I watched several guides but I wasn’t even getting close after 10-15 tries. The major change I made after watching was that I used void instead of switching between ahrims and karils. So I only had to make two switches, the helm and my weapon. I was afraid of missing out on the increased DPS, but as you said, you get more DPS being alive and I was able to spend more time attacking with less gear switches. Thanks again for the video, it was really good perspective. I subbed, and will definitely check out your other videos!
I got my first Zulrah kill today and it felt great, I can see the progress and the tip with not being afraid of dying is a very good one :) Also loved the list of importance, would help me a lot if I knew it before trying

I just want one kill for the darn diary, but people can't seem to decide if it's "easy to learn" or "hold on while I pull out this massive chart and describe all the stuff you're expected to accomplish in tiny 2 second phase transitions" Frickin' hell guys, I struggled on Jad.
I got my first kill a couple of days ago. I’ve killed it 14 times thus far. I still die, but my kills are slowly but surely getting cleaner and faster. What I did was use the website Zulrah helper. I open 4 tabs, one for each rotation. I learned how to tell what rotation it is as early as possible and go to the appropriate tab. My stats are 88 range, 80 magic, 73 defense. Like he said in the vid, I keep my switches to a bare minimum. My magic set is Ahrim’s top and bottom, god dhide coif, ava’s accumulator, book of darkness, trident, and god dhide boots. My range switch is god dhide chest, chaps, and blowpipe. I wear a glory amulet the whole time. He mentioned how important it is to pray correctly for the form that pops up and I can’t emphasize that enough. Another thing to note is you take the most damage during his blue magic phase. Zulrah MOSTLY attack with magic in this phase but he’ll randomly attack with range. I’ve died a lot during the blue phases. Lastly, the jad phase is something that comes with more practice. I got to jad phase and died 10-15 times before I was able to flick it correctly for the first kill. Anyway if you are still reading this, you can do it! Just keep trying and don’t give up! Take a break if you start to get frustrated and get back at it. Like I said I’m by no means good at Zulrah yet, but I’m starting to actually enjoy doing this boss. It’s a fun challenge and feels great when you kill the SOB lol. Best of luck on your grind!
also jad phase is after a mage spawn in middle (either inner or order sides) bar one which is much early and u will get the timing down after a few kills
I’ve actually picked up on those patterns at this point lol. I’m at exactly 200 kc right now. I’m at the point where I’m killing it twice in one trip and I’ve upped my switches from 3 to 5. I think with a few more upgrades and a higher magic lvl I’ll manage 3 kills a trip consistently. Ty for the tips tho, best of luck to you as well. Oh and btw, still not a single unique drop :(
I started learning zulrah earlier this week and the thing that killed me the most was my ring of recoil would shatter right before or during jad phase (too poor for a suffering) I always bring an extra ring for when it breaks but swapping rings during jad phase is not easy or safe. Those snakelings must know when the ring breaks cus they decide to hit very consistently when it happens and then in one instance I have to make a choice: eat, equip ring, or flick prayer as I can’t do all three at the same time. Now that I’m at 50 kc this isn’t much of a problem for me as I’m getting a feel for when my ring will break so I can be ready to equip the new one and know the sound to look out for/ keep an eye on my chat box. Not to mention I know that prayer is priority and I definitely have enough time after a flick to do everything I need. Still die from time to time especially from tanz form being a bitch and using nothing but ranged
After many MANY tries and fails, I finally got my first kill. What seemingly finally helped is swapping from blowpipe to dragon crossbow and using RUBY(E) bolts. The effect, especially early on, can hit up to 50, and will help make up the lack of damage newer people inevitably face as they learn the fight. I eventually got the JAD phase down, but amusingly enough on my first and only kill at the time of writing, I lagged during and it threw off my entire rhythm, so I kept it on protect from mage, as that's what it was on already, and that's what the next phase would attack with, and just panic ate through the phase. I came out with less food, but I also came out alive and victorious.
Best tip I heard for bossing is that skill levels mean much more than (max) gear. I'm 90 range and 97 magic and the first Zulrah kill was easy in the end even with budget gear on my ironman. I now feel dumb for waiting this long to even try Zulrah. Same was with waiting way too long to do DS2. Vorkath is very simple as well. The next step would of course be efficiency as now I do one kill and then quickly reset at bank rather than try for multiple kills per trip. People really should focus on levels rather than do bosses as soon as they can and waste money on gear.
Everything you said in the guide it's true.. I found this vid after kill Zulrah Twice for first Time. What I can suggest Is having a Trident Of swamp AND not a Trident Of seas as I was using before, try to deal the most damage When u enter and try to pot un beetween attacks so u don't lose anytime to deal damage and beetween phases the first thing u wanna do Is changing prayers. I do not know how to explain jad phase but if Zulrah starts with ranged after seeing the attack switch to magic and repeat. Good luck on you first kill, don't be afraid Of dying and relax it Is so nice when u are relax and you learn how to kill Zulrah (:
if you dont have trident you can use blood blitz. thats what i did for my 1st kill. i also used diamond bolts (e) i read somewhere ( but varies per person ) that you could learn 1 rotation. but that also requires a lil luck. and if you use OSBuddy / Runelite go in without any items and mark the tiles with shift + rightclick then select ''mark tile'' there are a few videos out there that show wich tiles to mark.
Is vorkath harder or easier in your opinion, I've got a high vork kc, but no zulrah kills... I need that elite to speed my vork grind up. If I have a list on my phone next to my screen, with the zulrah rotations on it, will that help? I'm going to be using void mage and range, BP and Tridant, 99 range 83 magic 85 def. I tend to over prepare for things >.> was going to have a crack at it tomorrow :o
I'm currently learning and not all that great at the moment, but I started out by simply not focusing on killing Zulrah and seeing how long I'd last. So far it has saved me a lot of money (theoretically) and I've been learning the phases, positioning and prayer switch really quickly. Once you start getting familar and attacking, don't rush because you won't get a 2 minute kill your first go. If you just have to pray a phase and not attack, do it, there's no time limit.
So far I've only been able to get the snake down to half hp with only mage gear, no switches, on rotation 3. I nearly have the rotation down and locations of where I need to stand, then I'm going to add in some gear swap to get that extra DPS during the two mage phases. Made it to jad phase twice and that's where I really lose it fast with prayer swaps I think I do them too quick then it just gets way out of hand! Soon enough I'll get my first kill, but just like sins of the father final boss it won't be quick. That took me 11 tries (at lvl 70 att/str/Def) so I'm not expecting to be able to kill zulrah easy with only 77 mage/range. Got the gear just need the strategy
Idk if this is a strategy used often, but bringing like 10 chins with you to use on snakelings gathered around in one area seems like it would be very effective.
I'm a hardcore ironman on OSRS, but it's my main and I've never killed Zulrah before. You say to embrace death, but this isn't possible. Is there any super safe strategy I can employ as an alternative just for my one diary kill on the way to elite diary?
obviously there is not a guaranteed way to kill it if you dont know how to kill it :d its supposed to be a hard boss that isnt killed on your first try.

Great video. Honestly, I just blowpipe the entire kill, despite every guide and every reddit post's advice. With max gear, adamant darts and rigour, my PB is 1:52, and I get 2:00 to 2:45 minute kills consistently, with a couple slow ones here and there. Im just too lazy to do the switches lol, even though a good hybrid set-up is faster. Wish I could afford a Tbow
I’ve got some advice for people don’t cheap out on your gear honestly that was my downfall the deaths are safe so yolo seriously. And also skip the rotation where it’s green zulrah to start then blue zulrah you will take the most damaged from this rotation if your inexperienced to skip it as zulrah goes down and the blue one pops up just log out and you will be able to go back into the boss like nothing happened this helped me immensely and when you’re better at the boss go back and learn that phase I have over 1k kc at zulrah now. Just think fuck it when you die and go back in you’ll nail it eventually :) GoodLuck everyone!

I have not even unlocked zulrah on my acc I killed zulrah for a friend on my 4th attempt ever to get him his first kc and tbh I nearly killed it just using range no switch but when I brought the void mage helm and switch I killed it such a good boss to learn
something that helped me get through my first few kills is tanking the jad phase, if you do everything else right and switch equipment while running to next spot you should be fine on supplies, just lose a little dps for that phase, or even if u can, get the pillar between you and zulrah so it cant attack you, other than that its basically just running back and forth from side to side and switching gear
Zulrah is actually more profitable now than before the nerf. The average drop just before the nerf was worth 56k not counting the double roll and was reduced to 38k with the nerf, but since then the average drop has risen to 68k(As of October 13th) !
10th or 12th attempt... i wish. Combat lvl 100, 85 mage and range 83 hp and 71 prayer... attempt 47 just done. Not even half health. Gonna mage it for diary and give up on trying to kill it normally as no fun for me, causes headaches and massive loss to gp through pots, food and teles.

Unless your monitor has a refresh rate of 6 that's not the issue.. you should record your attempts and rewatch and see what happens and why you die.. also try the Flesh plugin on runelite
UNIQ benwell KBD easy. Pray mage has no effect, so just Black D Hide, an extended AntiFire, and your antifire shield. I like to pot up(Range, Antifire, and Antipoison), and just go in and kill him his max hit is only 10. KBD is the only boss I've done. I do it every time I get a Black Dragons Task, and have just hit the 50 KillCount mark.
It'sMe Minkata praying mage reduces the damage of his dragon fire attack. It DOES do things however its only useful if you dont have a anti dragon shiled/dfs while ranging with blowpipe or tbow

I just had my bro say what the phase was and then I’d click it when I was safe. Eventually you adjust and I have even memorised some of the phases now

This guide really helped me because it goes into a bit more detail on how to do certain things and avoid certain things. My thing was the melee phase, I didn't understand when I was supposed to move, but your video clearly shows as soon as Zulrah faces you in melee phase, you move at this point. Other guides don't describe this.

It says on the wiki if you die it keeps the 3 most valuable items is this true or was this changed?
@@rizzotto95 Your player on death keeps the three most valuable items and NPC next to the boat at Zulrah gives everything else back including pots and food from when you died. www.zulrahguide.co.uk/ was the easiest for me to learn the rotations I had this up whilst killing Zulrah. It's easy now :D

Thanks so much for this video, I was feeling super discouraged after a lot of failed attempts but your video helped. I don’t ever boss but needed to get one kill for Western hard diaries. I watched several guides but I wasn’t even getting close after 10-15 tries.
The major change I made after watching was that I used void instead of switching between ahrims and karils. So I only had to make two switches, the helm and my weapon. I was afraid of missing out on the increased DPS, but as you said, you get more DPS being alive and I was able to spend more time attacking with less gear switches.

I got my first Zulrah kill today and it felt great, I can see the progress and the tip with not being afraid of dying is a very good one :) Also loved the list of importance, would help me a lot if I knew it before trying

I just want one kill for the darn diary, but people can't seem to decide if it's "easy to learn" or "hold on while I pull out this massive chart and describe all the stuff you're expected to accomplish in tiny 2 second phase transitions" Frickin' hell guys, I struggled on Jad.
I got my first kill a couple of days ago. I’ve killed it 14 times thus far. I still die, but my kills are slowly but surely getting cleaner and faster. What I did was use the website Zulrah helper. I open 4 tabs, one for each rotation. I learned how to tell what rotation it is as early as possible and go to the appropriate tab.
My stats are 88 range, 80 magic, 73 defense. Like he said in the vid, I keep my switches to a bare minimum. My magic set is Ahrim’s top and bottom, god dhide coif, ava’s accumulator, book of darkness, trident, and god dhide boots. My range switch is god dhide chest, chaps, and blowpipe. I wear a glory amulet the whole time.
He mentioned how important it is to pray correctly for the form that pops up and I can’t emphasize that enough. Another thing to note is you take the most damage during his blue magic phase. Zulrah MOSTLY attack with magic in this phase but he’ll randomly attack with range. I’ve died a lot during the blue phases.
Lastly, the jad phase is something that comes with more practice. I got to jad phase and died 10-15 times before I was able to flick it correctly for the first kill.
Anyway if you are still reading this, you can do it! Just keep trying and don’t give up! Take a break if you start to get frustrated and get back at it. Like I said I’m by no means good at Zulrah yet, but I’m starting to actually enjoy doing this boss. It’s a fun challenge and feels great when you kill the SOB lol.

also jad phase is after a mage spawn in middle (either inner or order sides) bar one which is much early and u will get the timing down after a few kills
I’ve actually picked up on those patterns at this point lol. I’m at exactly 200 kc right now. I’m at the point where I’m killing it twice in one trip and I’ve upped my switches from 3 to 5. I think with a few more upgrades and a higher magic lvl I’ll manage 3 kills a trip consistently. Ty for the tips tho, best of luck to you as well.

I started learning zulrah earlier this week and the thing that killed me the most was my ring of recoil would shatter right before or during jad phase (too poor for a suffering) I always bring an extra ring for when it breaks but swapping rings during jad phase is not easy or safe. Those snakelings must know when the ring breaks cus they decide to hit very consistently when it happens and then in one instance I have to make a choice: eat, equip ring, or flick prayer as I can’t do all three at the same time. Now that I’m at 50 kc this isn’t much of a problem for me as I’m getting a feel for when my ring will break so I can be ready to equip the new one and know the sound to look out for/ keep an eye on my chat box. Not to mention I know that prayer is priority and I definitely have enough time after a flick to do everything I need. Still die from time to time especially from tanz form being a bitch and using nothing but ranged
After many MANY tries and fails, I finally got my first kill. What seemingly finally helped is swapping from blowpipe to dragon crossbow and using RUBY(E) bolts. The effect, especially early on, can hit up to 50, and will help make up the lack of damage newer people inevitably face as they learn the fight. I eventually got the JAD phase down, but amusingly enough on my first and only kill at the time of writing, I lagged during and it threw off my entire rhythm, so I kept it on protect from mage, as that's what it was on already, and that's what the next phase would attack with, and just panic ate through the phase. I came out with less food, but I also came out alive and victorious.
blowpipe sucks now for ranged lvl under 90, might have to try this out!
Best tip I heard for bossing is that skill levels mean much more than (max) gear. I'm 90 range and 97 magic and the first Zulrah kill was easy in the end even with budget gear on my ironman. I now feel dumb for waiting this long to even try Zulrah. Same was with waiting way too long to do DS2. Vorkath is very simple as well. The next step would of course be efficiency as now I do one kill and then quickly reset at bank rather than try for multiple kills per trip. People really should focus on levels rather than do bosses as soon as they can and waste money on gear.

Everything you said in the guide it's true.. I found this vid after kill Zulrah Twice for first Time. What I can suggest Is having a Trident Of swamp AND not a Trident Of seas as I was using before, try to deal the most damage When u enter and try to pot un beetween attacks so u don't lose anytime to deal damage and beetween phases the first thing u wanna do Is changing prayers. I do not know how to explain jad phase but if Zulrah starts with ranged after seeing the attack switch to magic and repeat. Good luck on you first kill, don't be afraid Of dying and relax it Is so nice when u are relax and you learn how to kill Zulrah (:

if you dont have trident you can use blood blitz. thats what i did for my 1st kill. i also used diamond bolts (e)
i read somewhere ( but varies per person ) that you could learn 1 rotation. but that also requires a lil luck.
and if you use OSBuddy / Runelite go in without any items and mark the tiles with shift + rightclick then select ''mark tile'' there are a few videos out there that show wich tiles to mark.
Is vorkath harder or easier in your opinion, I've got a high vork kc, but no zulrah kills... I need that elite to speed my vork grind up.
If I have a list on my phone next to my screen, with the zulrah rotations on it, will that help?

I'm currently learning and not all that great at the moment, but I started out by simply not focusing on killing Zulrah and seeing how long I'd last. So far it has saved me a lot of money (theoretically) and I've been learning the phases, positioning and prayer switch really quickly. Once you start getting familar and attacking, don't rush because you won't get a 2 minute kill your first go. If you just have to pray a phase and not attack, do it, there's no time limit.
So far I've only been able to get the snake down to half hp with only mage gear, no switches, on rotation 3. I nearly have the rotation down and locations of where I need to stand, then I'm going to add in some gear swap to get that extra DPS during the two mage phases. Made it to jad phase twice and that's where I really lose it fast with prayer swaps I think I do them too quick then it just gets way out of hand! Soon enough I'll get my first kill, but just like sins of the father final boss it won't be quick. That took me 11 tries (at lvl 70 att/str/Def) so I'm not expecting to be able to kill zulrah easy with only 77 mage/range. Got the gear just need the strategy

Idk if this is a strategy used often, but bringing like 10 chins with you to use on snakelings gathered around in one area seems like it would be very effective.
Best Tip - Being alive is more DPS.
I started focusing more on the snakes rather than putting hits in, and i got me first kill.

I'm a hardcore ironman on OSRS, but it's my main and I've never killed Zulrah before. You say to embrace death, but this isn't possible. Is there any super safe strategy I can employ as an alternative just for my one diary kill on the way to elite diary?

Great video. Honestly, I just blowpipe the entire kill, despite every guide and every reddit post's advice. With max gear, adamant darts and rigour, my PB is 1:52, and I get 2:00 to 2:45 minute kills consistently, with a couple slow ones here and there. Im just too lazy to do the switches lol, even though a good hybrid set-up is faster. Wish I could afford a Tbow

Tip: If switches frustrates you, do it only with range (toxic blowpipe) I got faster kills only ranging than hybriding on my zerk
Came to say this too, spent 10 or so tries trying to switch and couldn't quite do it. First try with the blowpipe only I got it.
After like 50 kills I started switching with Void mage range and its easy peasy :D

I’ve got some advice for people don’t cheap out on your gear honestly that was my downfall the deaths are safe so yolo seriously. And also skip the rotation where it’s green zulrah to start then blue zulrah you will take the most damaged from this rotation if your inexperienced to skip it as zulrah goes down and the blue one pops up just log out and you will be able to go back into the boss like nothing happened this helped me immensely and when you’re better at the boss go back and learn that phase I have over 1k kc at zulrah now. Just think fuck it when you die and go back in you’ll nail it eventually :) GoodLuck everyone!
Oh and don’t use void it’s fucking shit to learn in take serp helm don’t have to worry about venom one less thing to worry about

I have not even unlocked zulrah on my acc I killed zulrah for a friend on my 4th attempt ever to get him his first kc and tbh I nearly killed it just using range no switch but when I brought the void mage helm and switch I killed it such a good boss to learn
something that helped me get through my first few kills is tanking the jad phase, if you do everything else right and switch equipment while running to next spot you should be fine on supplies, just lose a little dps for that phase, or even if u can, get the pillar between you and zulrah so it cant attack you, other than that its basically just running back and forth from side to side and switching gear
Did you make much from killing Zulrah? Is profit snek still profitable even after the nerf?
Zulrah is actually more profitable now than before the nerf. The average drop just before the nerf was worth 56k not counting the double roll and was reduced to 38k with the nerf, but since then the average drop has risen to 68k(As of October 13th) !
10th or 12th attempt... i wish. Combat lvl 100, 85 mage and range 83 hp and 71 prayer... attempt 47 just done. Not even half health. Gonna mage it for diary and give up on trying to kill it normally as no fun for me, causes headaches and massive loss to gp through pots, food and teles.

Unless your monitor has a refresh rate of 6 that's not the issue.. you should record your attempts and rewatch and see what happens and why you die.. also try the Flesh plugin on runelite

UNIQ benwell KBD easy. Pray mage has no effect, so just Black D Hide, an extended AntiFire, and your antifire shield.
I like to pot up(Range, Antifire, and Antipoison), and just go in and kill him his max hit is only 10. KBD is the only boss I've done. I do it every time I get a Black Dragons Task, and have just hit the 50 KillCount mark.
