    Word of advice. Avocado oil is not what you want to use because of its high smoke point of over 600 degrees. Avocado oil is exactly what you wanna cook with but not season with. You want oil with a low smoke point. Like flax seed oil, bacon fat etc. You are trying to burn a layer onto the griddle to season it. Avocado oil won't let you do that.

    • @BuQeyeBBQ
      @BuQeyeBBQ  2 месяца назад

      ahhhh, great to know, thanks so much…I see people use flax and grape seed oils a lot. I was under the impression that they (at least the grape seed) were a higher smoke point too. Mistake? appreciate the comment l sir.

    • @Diesel357..
      @Diesel357.. 2 месяца назад +1

      @@BuQeyeBBQ Grape seed has a smoke point in the low four hundreds (not ideal) flax seed is in the low two hundreds (ideal) .
      For seasoning purposes you want an oil that burns onto the pan and turns into a solid at the microscopic level. Since avocado has the highest smoke point ( low 600) it won't fuse to the griddle like an oil with a low smoke point will. If that answers your question.

      hope you like yours and for a good price it is a nice griddle. There are better out there for sure but the precision temp is a cool feature. I do wish it heated a little more evenly but it isn't too bad. Come back and let me know how yours does!

    Any updates since 11 month ago?... I read a lot of reviews that the dial sensor being broken and the griddle essentially won't turn on rendering it useless. Do you have any of these issues or any issues in the 11 months of ownership?

    • @BuQeyeBBQ
      @BuQeyeBBQ  5 месяцев назад +2

      Mine is still running well, no issues. No regrets. This said, I do want to compare it to a Blackstone or the new Weber griddle offering. I may end up taking the Loco to the lake and picking up another brand to compare but no certain plan yet. Thanks for watching!

      I’ve had mine for over a year as well with no issues. I think what you’ve read are the issues with the gen 1 model. Make sure you get a gen 2. Gen 2 has the same size of grease trap as the one in this video.

    I wanted to like this griddle so bad. I just got mine a week ago. Worked great on the season and first cook. Then went to use it Labor Day weekend cooking out for friends and NOTHING. It wasn’t getting power. Different outlets, checking connections, all ok. Trying to get a response from Loco is futile, still waiting. Returned it. I would have to be crazy to buy another Loco product.
