I actually know that lady, she is the second cousin of my first wife’s mother-in-law, she is federally bonded and licensed by the original riders of the golden hemlock, she works pro bono, and can be contacted most dark and stormy nights, usually following the third full moon during a leap year wandering random Gatlinburg pay and employee parking lots. she will gladly vouch for you in a court of law for a nominal fee calculated by taking the tow fee and multiplying by 10%, local and federal taxes and fees apply.

Retired Canadian trucker here. When crossing a state border the vehicle must be clearly plated with a valid tags. If the vehicles pllates are expired or missing a Temporrary operation tag(days/weeks/etc) can be issued by ANY state if proof of ownership is valid and shown(not rewuired to return to original state for a travel tag permit) Trucking will do this to a person, made me ExTREmely familiar with tags/permits.

Suggestion, I watch a channel called Matt's off road recovery. He has taken a license plate and glued magnets to the back. Then he put one of his logo stickers on the front of the plate and just pops it on the customers plate so that they don't have to spend so much time blurring the plate during editing. Painting a magnetized plate would work as well. Just a thought. Thanks for the video of Gatlinburg on a weekend. At $15.00 or more a day to park I'll just stick to the backwoods. way too many people for me.
We had tried that and the problem was not all license plates are metal.

ALL Licence (rego) plates here in New Zealand for example are made from ALUMINIUM. (a very useful metal).
Useless to try and stick anything magnetic to them though, which also helps avoid anyone trying to simply add false plates..

This video is extremely sus. You don't have to be a dealer to sale an old car. And being the fact you're not a dealer you can not issue a temp tag. The temp tag just tells cops "we just bought it don't pull us over" I've been pulled over a bunch driving without a tag just with a bill of sale. This..... this video they're 100% scamming people
@jlo7770 in indiana you have to have registration on the vehicle. When you buy a new one from a private person you use your old plate and the bill of sale with the date to prove you're within the time frame of getting a new one. Its not illegal, you just can't park somewhere that requires a license plate without a license plate. They parked for free. You're concentrating too hard on the one part and not realizing what actually got them towed.

If I did that any of the states I lived in I'd be charged for having false plates... not to mention your example is mute because it's not uncommon for people to have multiple vehicles so how would someone buy private party and use your old plate when your old plate is on your other vehicle?... or are you suggesting someone just juggle their plates around from one vehicle to another lol? You're focusing on one thing too hard and not the totality of the circumstances..
They are always happy to see you and willing to pay till after they are out and don't need you. That's when the price becomes to high and they start to point blame for damages.
Maybe, if the price is too high you could offer to put it back in the ditch for free

I purchased a truck in Alabama from a dealer about 12yrs ago. I dont know if it has changed but at the time Alabama only issued temp tags via court order under special circumstances. Temp tags are not issued there in lieu of permanent tags. I drove it back home to Ohio, a state that doesn’t issue in-transit tags, with no plates. The truck was fully insured. State of Ohio requires physical inspection of out of state purchased vehicles. So the only correct way to get my truck from alabama to ohio would have been to ship it.
I rode around East Tennessee without a plate for over a year. I only got pulled over once and that was for speeding. Cop asked me about the plate I showed him the title and insurance. No ticket nothing. Went and got it registered the fine for waiting so long was $7.50. More common than you would think. Love this channel 👍

Over the past 50 years, I have purchased tons of vehicles, and they ALWAYS had a license plate.
I’m sure they thought they could get away without paying to park, the plate was probably in the truck.

Wanna bet that the Ford Ranger is stolen. No lic plate and hat placed over Vin? Wouldn't surprise me in the least. If it were me, he wouldn't get it back without a tag and a police release. Plus with the cranked front tires (another old "they won't be able to tow it" trick), instant dolly charge and job. My theory, make it as difficult as you want. I'm still gonna get and they extra grief will be added to the bill. Thank you.

The people without a plate on their truck are 100% correct about in Alabama having 21 days to get a plate. Alabama doesn't issue paper tags like other states. Super weird. Only need the bill of sale to ride with. I'm from Indiana. I just moved to Alabama, bought a truck, the same thing, road around without a paper tag or plate for 21 days. Also, you get your plate right then and there at the Revenue office. That was strange, too. In Indiana, the BMV would mail out your plate to your home. Alabama does stuff way different, yall... 😅😂

It's true. In Alabama you you have that amount of time to get a tag but you must have the paperwork in the vehicle to show the date of purchase.
I used to sell security cameras and I would tell everyone that they will keep honest people honest. Nothing will make a crook honest. That's why you record everything.

I’m sorry but I’ve heard this bs “keeping honest people honest” crap too many times in my lifetime. It’s just not true. Most crooks will look for the easiest mark. If they actually see the camera before they commit the crime, they usually move on to an easier target. Same with locks. Most people will check locks on cars until they find an unlocked car. This “idea” that cameras and locks don’t work was likely put out there by criminals.

I've seen some BS artists in my time but the two without license plates are pure pros. If you just bought a car off a lot, if it was used the plates would still be on it from the original owner. If it was a new vehicle, never have been owned, they would give you dealer tags to last until you got your plates: those are the paper ones. And how do you have valid registration without plates ? These two geniuses took the plates off to avoid being ticketed so they could park anywhere they pleased for free, so they thought. The next time someone tells you a man or lady told them it was okay to park somewhere, ask them, was it Mr. or Mrs Santa Claus !
When you buy a vehicle in ND, you have to complete a form, submit it to the DMV and then you receive your tag in about 3 weeks. As long as you have the purchase agreement, title, valid insurance and the vehicle has been owned less than 5 days before submitting the registration form, you are good on the road. I know someone who drove for nearly 2 months without tags on his truck because the first plate was not delivered and returned to the DMV and it had to be sent out again.

In the state of Mississippi they give you 7 working days to get a tag after buying a vehicle. I remember when I grew up in Madisonville Tennessee you had to get a temporary drive out tag I believe they were called,different states have different rules.
That same lady tells me that i don't have to do the dishes in the sink. My wife says otherwise though.
It was me, I'm telling them to park everywhere and anywhere.

Here in Georgia you have 30 days to get a tag. If you purchase from a dealership you get a temporary tag, but private party sale you don't. Most private party sales don't involve a lienholder on the seller's part, so you get the title and can take it directly to the tag office to get a tag.

I have never bought a used or new vehicle from a dealer where I didn't get at least a temp plate. Sounds very improbable.
I noticed the roads seldom have center lines when you get the least bit out of the city. My daughter lives on Dauphin Island. Only the main drag is marked. Tourists want to drive down the middle of the dang roads all the time. When you come to a dead stop to see what they are going to do they look befuddled and can be so rude. Most of the roads have narrow ditches on either side unless a homeowner has put in a culvert to extend their yard. You don't want to end up in a ditch! I found your channel a few days ago and have been binge-watching! Love watching you two work!

In Mississippi you have 10 days to get a tag. If it is a speciality or personalized tag, they give a tag saying tag applied for. Other than that no temporary tag is issued.
I am sure every state is different. In Minnesota, we typically received a 21-day tag, yellow, and tapped in the back window. Seems like the last new car I bought, they put a plate on before I drove off the lot.
Nice boots. Comment about the Ranger, in Arkansas you get your tag and registration at the same time. In the first call he slipped up and said "I've got the tag" then changed to "i going to get the tag tomorrow".

If what this lady is saying is true … that’s crazy! I live in Ontario, Canada. When I buy a vehicle, whether new used or otherwise, I can’t drive off the lot unless there’s a valid licence plate attached to the vehicle. Generally that is done by the dealer. They attend at the local licence bureau, register the vehicle for me and put the licence plates on the car for me. I am suspect of anyone that does not have a licence plate and if they were to drive into my town while I was a police officer here for 35 years, they be getting a ticket and their vehicle, and in all likelihood it would be towed!
BC, same thing. I get called to the Dealer. I do your Registration, Licence Plate and Insurance. Dealership requires proof of full insurance coverage. If you buy a vehicle privately there are Tax Transfer paper to complete. A signed Registration . You come to my office. I collect 12% tax. My insurance on a 2016 Toyota Corolla including plate fee, insurance, and taxes is roughly $1800 a yr. 67yr old female, accident free. Government Insurance

Private sellers don't give you a tag and here in Iowa you have 30 days from the date of sale to get your vehicle registered in your name. You just have to show a signed title with a date if you get pulled over and as long as it's within the 30 day grace period you're ok.

I think it's the Bell Witch...she got bored in Adams, and now wreaks havoc upon unsuspecting parkers in Gatlinburg.
In Va. they have to have it tagged and insured before it leaves any dealers lot. I have never heard of any state allowing you to drive around without a tag on the vehicle. I just looked it up for Alabama and it says for a newly bought vehicle you have 20 days to register for tags and to drive it on the roads just need the bill of sale showing it was bought within 10 business days of the sale. Crazy
