Honestly, I thought Tommy's mom would have killed him for having a child out of wedlock. Major taboo in the Asian community, especially when the other person is non Asian. And yeah, wanting to 'fix him' sounds bad, but its just from a sense of misplaced care. She obviously fell in love with her grandson, and like Sheila would want what's best for Hymie.
@@emilyk6510 Again, it's from a sense of misplaced care. Something the grandmother would have to come to terms with. But it's sweet she still wants her grandson in her life despite the circumstances.
I have to commend Sheila for doing the right thing morally. However, Timmy Wong's mother is wrong. He may be the biological father but he does not have rights until he goes to court to establish paternity. At least that's how it is in most States because he was not married to Karen at the time of the birth. In fact, I believe that since Jody is married to Karen, at least I think he is here, the law of recognizes him as the legal father.
WRONG! Until otherwise decided by the courts in a majority of states, both parents have equal 50/50 rights to the child. Doesn't matter if Mom put him on the birth certificate, if he signed the birth certificate, doesn't matter if he claimed, signed or established paternity, if he was present during the delivery or any of that stupid shit! Just because Mom shit the baby out doesn't mean they have more rights than the Father! Mom doesn't have to go to court and prove that's her child to see the baby..and neither does Dad! SO! Again! In a vast majority of states unless otherwise specified by the courts ...both Parents have EQUAL joint custody of the child! No Parent is more special than the other!
@juliahorvath4129 don't believe that bullshit! In a vast majority of States..unless the court states otherwise...both Parents have equal joint custody when a child is born! Marriage can sometimes factor ...but many of those outdated laws are going away where Marriage automatically equals paternity!
@ninam.1560 Clearly you never have had children. The husband is the legal father of every child born during a marriage. If this were real Tommy would have to file a paternity suit to establish paternity. You can Google it.
He was kind, but very unfit to be a father. The bizarre sexual activities that he was arranging in the home around a baby, as well as the fact that he wanted to shove the other side of Hymie’s family away, and couldn’t see that the Wongs’ home was a much safer and healthier environment for Hymie to be in, shows that. If he were a good and responsible parent, he would recognize that and put Hymie’s best interests above his own. A nice person, but in no way fit to be a parent.
It's actually a weird way some asian parents show they care. Their 'fix' is basically them saying 'I'm not giving up here'. Even if it sounds wrong in many ways, it shows that they truly care.
