Good luck on your new venture! Anyone with enough sack to even attempt to start their own business has my respect. Cant wait to watch you grow as a businessman 🕴
Absolutely love how you"listen" to the bike. So many Tech's just do the once around and call it good. A well trained ear and but in the seat is worth a lot more then a book smart tech.
I heard that somtimes the full service will be done by a trainee . And will be final checked by a real tech. The service bill is " original Harley davidson ".
John, I like the new relaxed John. I think you will do very well with your shop just judging by the way you seem to just love having your own place. Loving the new videos
Good day sir from Victoria B.C. I am a retired tech myself and I got a kick out of this video. Dry squeaky foot pegs were always my pet peeve, especially foot boards with the detent ball. Poor techs always seem to miss those. Good on you for opening your own shop. Good luck to you John, I enjoy your humble style.
Awesome video, appreciate talking through the check. It's nice to see a business owner and mechanic who has passion for what they do. I know when I get home I still need to get my belt tension adjust bc I had the squeal when braking/slowing.
Hey man I’d rather go to someone like you instead of going to an incompetent dealer whose service manager tries to tell me the USB port on my 2019 Heritage isn’t a factory installed option so I have to call the salesman and have him go back and explain to the service manager it’s indeed a factory part and since it’s not working it’s a warranty repair.
John, thank you , thank you, thank you. I don’t know exactly what you’ve done but the production value of this video is sick! The lighting is sooo much better. The clarity is a million times better (new camera?) depth of field is awesome. The shot composition is better (new camera person?) Wow! Most people won’t even understand why they are enjoying your videos more, but they will. Very professional & very much appreciated. You have always been a natural at infotainment but even you seem to be having more fun. God bless & keep it up.
Do it. Worked @ Harley York under amf, laid off when new owners bought out amf. Union shop. Had my own water well business after 10 years of machining @ h-d, b&d. Got an 81 super glide with a rebate and co. employee discount for about 4k new, leftover. Was a year old when I got it. You will find as a business owner, feast and famon as far as money. Nothing like being your own boss
thanks for the head/wheel bearing tips, have recently brought a fat bob which had sat for 5 years. making some strange noises now and again. will be able to at least narrow things down👍
Good job buddy, love the spoke "pinging",,,, I used to do that on every service I did. Also when I started in business, consignment was a big part of it. Ocala Fl.
The exhaust on this bike is the exact one on my 2010 Heritage. American Custom Exhaust. I love the slip-ons. They take you original slip ons and gut them and repack the inter walls of the muffler. I think the best sound of any pipes you can get Unlike the dealer pushed Rinehart and other popular exhaust that sound like tin cans. I also kept the stock intake cover on my Heritage with a state II cam change.
John, First, good luck with the new shop. Nice video. Funny how my 2018 FLHC had two of the same issues. Saddlebag rattle was because one of the bolt holes was not tapped through, and the bold did not tighten against the bag all the way. I tapped the hole the rest of the way, and the bolt now seats fine. The other was the clip at the bottom end of the side stand came off. Funny how some things just happen. Keep up the videos.
You need to paint the inside of your shop white. That will make what lights you have much brighter. My brother started a bike shop back in the 70’s and it really helped when we painted the interior white. He specialized in British and Asian bikes. Not too many Harley’s. This was in Avon and then Lakeville NY.
I would if I owned the place. That would be so expensive, and it would be yellow by the time I move out. Meaning they’d probably make me paint it again. Maybe one day I’ll be bringing in enough to do it !
It's not 2020s style, it's Maxwell's style, all great check's John, it's nice to see you having your own shop brother, ride safe and keep the kneese in the breeze 👍🏼💯
Gas cap can be fixed. Fix came from another RUclipsr and worked for me. Lay the gas cap upside down on something soft. Where the chrome cap is clinted over the plastic take a straight bladed screw driver and indent the edge every 5mm or so (You don't have to wack it!!!). If you do it nicely you'll never ever notice it.
Hey John, good to see you stepping out of the dealership, and into your own thing! "Good luck!" 5 fluids to check... Engine, Trans, and Primary ofcourse.. But also the brakes. They just about all use fluid now days. Front and back! And lastly... Forks! Front forks have a fluid in them, that is similar to hydrolic oil. And hey! I'm just inviting you to check out the video on "Oil Purge," on "Delboy's Garage," channel. By purging the old oil from the oiling system, you get like, another quart of old, dirty oil, from the system, besides just the tank and filter... I think it's worth th quart of clean oil more, to KNOW, you got clean oil throughout the entire system...
First thing, the audio on your new helmet set up is WAY better. And boy buddy, if that bike gets a Big Dirty Thumb's Up, you KNOW it's a good deal! Love the channel (and the new shop), brother. Eric, Kissimmee, Fl.
Absolutely great vid big John. I have the same bike and same rattle. Will now check my stand. Best of luck for the future man 👍👍👍 three dirty thumbs for ya
Hey John love the video and that is a sweet bike! kep them coming ,me n my son are planning a road trip next spring and planning to swing by and say hey dude , we really enjoy your videos .
Dealers in NW PA are begging for used bikes. That would be dope is you started selling HD bikes John! Nice vlog.. Something is up with my kick stand on my 18 Fatboy. Going to shop tomorrow.
The jiffy stand is sort of important. Thanks for all the useful information. You need to give some old school sportsters some love!!! Still looking forward to your lift review and why you picked it over another Handy lift.
Sadly, i just sold my Heritage yesterday. Wife had a hard time being a pillion on a cruiser. Looks like a new bike for my solo riding may be on the horizon. I took great care of that bike and the new owner should be very happy!
That would have just given me an excuse to replace the pillion seat with a luggage rack, and add a drivers backrest. Although since you already sold your old bike, the Road King is a nice replacement option; just need to remove that ridiculously large wind screen and add highway pegs. Also need to make sure you get a version with cruise control; that rates fairly high on my nice to have list for road trips.
Hey john if you have time could you maybe do a video on cv carb and how to adjust them I have bassani exhaust and a high flow k&n airfilter and I have to crack the throttle to make it start when its hot
John I was hoping and I’m glad to know you kept your original opening to the RUclips videos even now since the start of your own business! Because it would have been weird if you would had decided to drop it !
I generally use the line when I’m actually bringing you to work with me 😂 seems silly for that intro when we’re riding around or talking about a helmet or a camera or something, ya know!

Hey i have a fix for it. take the foam speedo drive insulator from a 1992 flhs and put it around the threads and it will isolate the noise. fix is great.
Good presentation, thanks for posting. You mention that you checked the belt, probably assume that the viewer knows how to do that and what to look for, but I'm afraid I don't. Also, what were you looking for when you tapped the spokes? If you could please make a video explaining some of the checks, sort of a "how to" deal, it would be of great help.
Love your video's John. Super excited to see you starting your own shop. At 5:20 when you start checking that rear tire. It looks like the tire is cupping when you spin it. It could be a trick of the light at the bottom of the wheel. But it look weird. I wish I had a tech/shop close to me. That was as Thorough as you are! Keep up the great my Dude.
😂 it is a lot of fun having some space to myself. At the shop off camera I spent a lot of time moving things around, waiting for convos to end, all sorts of things that made it harder to be excited to push record. Now if I could find someone else to fix bikes so I can record all day, I’d be golden!
For lighting in the garage check out Yiizon LED Garage Light, E26 6500K 48W on Amazon - I don't work for them, just installed 4 of them in my garage now it's like I'm working in daylight.
I have an 03 fatboy 80 inch I'm afraid to ride with the newer bikes with the bigger motors. I don't know if I could keep up . I feel like back in the day when I had a shovel head . And everybody had evos .
09 FXSTC kick stand bushings broke apart about 15k ago. Cheap to repair, put grease in them. Hardest part was hooking the #@%^$ spring back up. Ride safe.
Oh my god, i wish i could send my bike to you to get serviced...you amazing with your detailing for a pre-ride inspection. My bike doesn't hold a charge, i cleaned my carb and did a rebuild, changed my spark plugs, charged my battery, the bike turns on over and runs but the moment i go to ride it, it turns off.
I wish every mechanic was as honest and detailed as you are 👍
Good luck on your new venture! Anyone with enough sack to even attempt to start their own business has my respect. Cant wait to watch you grow as a businessman 🕴
John, this is one of your best. It’s serious and business like with lots of information. Thanks and keep them coming.
Absolutely love how you"listen" to the bike.

I heard that somtimes the full service will be done by a trainee . And will be final checked by a real tech.

Thats why i don't like a radio on my Road King. I want to hear the engine, etc
@@paulherzog9605 absolutely LOVE my 2015 RoadKing!
Living in Harris county I’m glad to know I can take my Harley to someone if I need!
Awesome. Looks like things are going pretty well. Blessings to ya and keep those cameras rollin.

John are back on you tube now ? We sure do miss you . Let us know if you’re back, doing videos now.

God do I love the heritage’s... I’ve got a CVO streetglide and still feel warm and fuzzy about the heritage.. it’s just sooo classic
Same here.
Glad I found you here, man! I have a 2020 Heritage S, so I enjoyed watching this video. I wish you all the best with your shop too!
Awesome video, appreciate talking through the check. It's nice to see a business owner and mechanic who has passion for what they do. I know when I get home I still need to get my belt tension adjust bc I had the squeal when braking/slowing.
Awesome new motorcycle shop man! I love seeing people get out there and take good solid risks like this. It's inspiring!
Never thought to check the kickstand. Attention to detail. Nice 👍
The clip on the kickstand has come off twice on my '19.
Best Harley mechanic in the net. Wish I lived nearby to get you to take care of my road glide.
Hey John, looks like your shop is coming along nicely. Great video, as usual’
Love the t-shirt ... motorcycle missions rocks. Thanks John for all your work.
I change plugs and wires every spring when I do the seasonal service which covers the entire bike, even screws holding the brake/ tail lens.
