Really interesting insight to the genesis of our Islamist issue in the West. I think the idea behind Abraham Accords was to destroy the leverage that Iran and Hamas had. If Saudis signed, Hamas would have been rendered irrelevant.
Interesting, Faisal essentially suggested an EU for the Middle East, to encourage commercial interdependencies. Nice theory, but Islam needs the equivalent of the reformation. Or ancient faith based issues - will always be there.

Radical thinking spreads so fast because of its simplicity. Much easier to see everything as oppressor/oppressed than to actually gain a deep understanding of things. Couple that fact with unbridled publishing (social media) and there you have it.
Biggest load of nonsense when your guest talks about Israel going against the trend in the region by going right wing and countries like Saudi Arabia are going left! Israel is a liberal democracy with a robust judiciary, proportional representation with a parliament that has representation from all communities including Arab and conservative religious Jews but the bulk of the population is not right wing! It’s a small element within a coalition government that is religious and right wing. Unfortunately they do have more power than they should because it’s a proportional democracy and that’s how democracies work. Israel is surrounded by tyrannical regimes where its population have no rights. The fact that Saudi is finally allowing basic rights like women being permitted to leave their homes without a chaperone is a step in the right direction but they’ve got a looong way to go! Surprised the host did not push back on this.
Qualified conversations about the Middle East and islamic countries are crucial these days! I'm following closely whatever goes on in Islam lately. It is where major shifts are happening and the therein heresy is taking a hugely important role.
Tbh there was a lot of misinformation about Israel here. Firstly even secular Jews in Israel have 4+ children. The reason people are voting more right wing is because of things like October 7th- I mean, realistically, which way would you vote if you were attacked like that? Would you vote for the people promising protection or not? Netanyahu is also not a religious leader- he's secular and centre right. I also don't expect he'll win the next election- but it's likely to be someone else who promises strength- and that's not going to be inherently different whether they're right or left wing. The problem is obsessing over the left/right divide, because in Israel, and in many other places I'm sure, you can be left wing and religious. Also Israel still has a lot of socialist policies, regardless of whether you vote right or left wing.
Yes. We have failed miserably to convey to the young about the importance of freedom. Why should they question it, because they have it. The young always seem to need a cause. We are giving them some, so it’s not going to play out well I’m afraid. 🇦🇺
In anthropology among resource methods described such as agrarian, urban, horticultural there is a form of cultural adaptation called trade and raid. For example raid free inernationalaid and sell it to your own people. Also explains a unique institution like Palestinian Authority Martyrs Fund. There's literally oil and gas reserves under gaza that they were free to develop. There are ancient societies still existing today in which lying and stealing are skills not vices and hard work is only understood as something umake others do as punishment and sign of power over them. They are literally such group. Begging is above work in that world. Why else do arabs always always rule their own with an iron fist and pay dearly when they don't.

You are right about the Austro-Hungarian Empire, that was one of the mistakes this guest made. On the other hand, although the Habsburgs were the ruling dynasty, the Hungarian kingdom was much bigger than the Austrian territories.
The discussion and understanding of Israeli right wing politics is pretty shallow. Does Andrew know that some of the haredi parties (hassidisch is not really the right word to use) supported the idea of land for peace when they thought it might save lives. And Netenyahu is not far right by any means. I'd encourage Andrew to do a bit more research into Israeli politics
It was a great talk, just wanted to make a point about Israeli politics and demography that I dont think were accurate, the majority of Israelis are secular and still vote right, it's not about religion, you can be a right wing person with liberal views, the extreme right is reletivly small portion, they seem bigger because of the coalition system we have.
Hi Andrew, please do invite Iranian, Iraqi, Lebanese, and African and etc intellectuals to have a dialogue and work on making peace among all people of the world, and start with Middle East.

There should be an absolute separation of State and Religion in all countries. The minute any politician invokes "god" or religious beliefs, they definitely lose my vote.
Politicians should read about the 10 commandments, that exist in all 3 monotheistic religions - especially about NOT killing other people or robbing and raping (not allowed). And how come YOUR own agenda is more important than the laws GOD gave us? Even if you do not believe in the God everybody speaks of - the laws attributed to him are still sound and should be respected, to give all around us a good life - free of violence, if possible- The Golden Rule: treat others, as you want to be treated yourself by them😇
You say that but look at Science misused as Pseudo-Religion today. The more fundamental problem? Is Centralization of Power in the hands of a few over the many. Do note in the West with Woke, it's the creation of "Western Secular Religion" in place of Traditional Religion!

Exactly, Meccan period he was ok, Medinian period he was spurred by resentment, bitterness, power hungry, anger. The law of abrogation means that “true Muslims” who accept the Quran as the word of god (which is a promise when one “reverts” - everyone is born Muslim they just go astray- hence the word revert rather than convert) , have to take Medinian period to be more accurate over the contradicting Suryas from the earlier Meccan. Hence jihadist are taking things logically and sincerely: I actually find it astonishing that it is even allowed as a book it is that violent towards specific groups …
When I was still deeper in the whole science vs. religion debate world, I recall watching a documentary, about how young guys, in the UK, got radicalized - not just in Islam, but INTO the islamic faith itself, joining it out of a sense of belonging, male empowerment, masculinity, wanting to feel more like men (or their idea of it), some of them having had misogynistic views, to begin with. And I cannot help but wonder, how a lot of young men, TODAY, can find belonging and empowerment in masculinity, when many are likely hearing it's toxic, all the time, and how certain (overly) liberal ideas, taken to their extreme form, may be downright emasculating to them, and how that can push them in an equally undesirable direction, maybe as far as getting radicalized by and into a religious faith that gives them more of a semblance of power than they feel like they're getting in their life. I wonder if there's the danger of that. Like the imam trying to hook you is an (even more) extreme version of Andrew Tate and the kind of masculinity he's pushing jives with you. Jordan Peterson had some thoughts on 'him.'
Wow wonderful. This interview gave me a live feeling of the atmosphere of what might've been happening inside this authoritarian regime of Sadan Hussein. I felt a lot of fear and confusion. As an atheist myself, I agree. Andrew has these guests on for confrontation. To me all religion is division. I care nothing of Israel or Palestine, were you worried in Israel about the segregation of Ulster?? No. And many share the same about Israel. It's not our fight .
I had previously read the book The Achilles Trap by Steve Coll that Faisal references in the interview. It is a very informative book which I do recommend.
What a great conversation, I learned so much. I would just like to correct a common misconception about Israeli politics and the right in general. The left did a good job at taking the term right wing and turning it into something bad, when it's actually just a different way of viewing the economy and the level of government involvement. Netanyahu is right wing because he believes in capitalism and open markets, he's not extreme and he's not religious. The religious parties usually just want more benefits for their public and they have participated in all governments whether they're left or right. Then we have the far right parties like Ben Gvir's but that guy is mostly talk and because of the strong democracy there's very little he can do without getting agreement from the Knesset and approval from the supreme court

It isn't just the Fakestinians. The Muslims in Israel have created aggressive no-go areas. God help any Jew who accidentally ends up in one of those Muslim enclaves.
@@lisalilu5275Exactly, they, bite the hand that feeds them. I once thought of myself as left leaning politically speaking but then the so called left started pushing all manner of nonsense and that's when I realised the left is not what it seems. I've never seen so much division and hate in my life and it's more often than not being pushed by the Left. Sadly, I was not surprised at the response from the so-called Left to Oct 7th.

The fake Ashkenazi Jews invaded Palestine in the 1940s. They used terrorism to evict a million indigenous Semitic Palestinians from their homes before destroying 500 Palestinian villages so the real Semites could never return to their homeland. The Zionists then spent the next 70 years bombing their neighbours while screaming about their right to self defence.
An illegal occupier has no right to self defence.
The Palestinians have done nothing to be forgiven for!!

@@lisalilu5275 Yes ..they are foolish…incredibly foolish but hating back doesn’t work either. We can be strong and say ‘No’ without hatred.
38:25 This is the crux of the problem and why Israelis are so anti-UNRWA. UNRWA’s existence and the inheritance of refugee status has perpetuated the delusion that someday Israel will disappear and everyone will go back to their great grandparents’ villages. UNRWA has also functioned as a de facto civil administration in Gaza, allowing Hamas to get away with zero investment in building infrastructure and an economy.
Yes, rivers of money flowing. But unrwa is hamas, no doubt and worring. The un is a joke nowadays, an abode of despots.
Good point that people tend to protest for what they are against rather then what they are for.
Yep. I'm getting that thought tattooed in to my brain.
yeah it's a really dumb way of doing things. but to be heard to say NO to something is pretty powerful. it's just half a job, and while you're saying NO, you could be co-creating the alternative which will inevitably attract people if it's good.
They never protest against common sense though, which they are clearly against.
Glad youre speaking to Faisal - he's amazing.

The protesters don't know the background of their protests BUT they know that they have to hate any moving jew or israeliand are prepared to go very far in their actions 🤨
It’s a mental imbalance to hate anyone….and sadly the Palestinians and other Arab Muslims and many on the left have hate in bucketloads and project it onto external objects rather than seeing its real source and so instead of resolving the hate, it grows and violence is the result,
Have never come across Faisal’s work. Thank you for introducing these important voices to the public.
Really interesting insight to the genesis of our Islamist issue in the West. The wise would study Islamism, understand motives and mechanisms for spreading and find the Achilles heel of the movement, then use it against these religious extremists in the same way Islamists have used our tolerance against us. That has been our Achilles heel. Thanks for posting this discussion.
The West is weak and no longer believes in itself. I've seen more belief in the West from Conservative Christians than anyone else.
You can't beat Islam if you don't believe in your own Civilization
Absolutely. This attitude of "We must have tolerance for absolutely every thing that people do in the name of expressing themselves" is driving us into the ground. It is absolute nonsense. No, we dont have to be accepting & tolerant of absolutely anything & everything. In fact, we should be cautious about what we accept & even endorse.
@@SugaryPhoenixxx these are great insights and must be applied to ever religion regardless.
@@SugaryPhoenixxxWe must retain the freedom to accept others but also not lose the freedom to reject what we find abhorrent without repercussion from the pure facsit ideal of uber acceptance at any cost.
So what IS their Achilles heel?
Islam is political by design: a system for whole life, including governance and governance. How is Islam NOT Islamism?
That👆
Islamism is a ramification of Political Islam a subset of the Divine System that is Islam.
So it's only a small part of it.
Islam is far greater and broader than petty things
This is what people are refusing to admit. It not a religion like others. It is political in nature.

40:03 (re: giving to and working with Palestinians): but the people of the kibbutzes were employing Gazans and taking them to Israeli hospitals and advocating for peace and those same Gazans used their knowledge of the kibbutz to commit a massacre, torturing, raping and killing these well-meaning Israelis. Not just Hamas but Gazan citizens too. How can a good life be an incentive to de-radicalize people who want to end lives, want to die, so they can enslave virgins after death? This isn't like the Palestinians of the West Bank fighting against the incursions and injustices of the settlers. The cruelty, the sexual violence, the hate and glee, completely sick and twisted. Something going on there beyond religious belief, oppression, etc. I really don't understand how the students can't see that they are exactly like the well-meaning people of the peace/music festival and would be violated and ended.

Israelis have gone further right than ever (including far leftists) because of the October 7th attack

I can't think of a single secular family that has over 4 children
(that I personally know of)
Islam is our greatest threat currently. We may have to yet again. Defend ourselves as we did with the crusades.

It’s funny when I see protests against school boards and gender ideology in classrooms and it’s full of Muslim parents.
