    You are so right, Claudia, about a water feature. I so enjoy that also. I have a bubble rock in my landscape by my front door. The best day is leaving my front door open and hearing the water. Love it!

      Oh I love that! Do you overwinter it in any special way? I just know it would be so amazing having the sound of water in the garden. ❤️

      @ nothing special Claudia. In the spring & summer I need to keep the water level high because it evaporates. But when we’re ready to shut it down for the winter, we let the water level drop and unplug it. Simple!

    Maybe you could find a decorative piece of brown ribbon and glue it over the green tape on the braided money tree? My eye kept going to that bright green tape. Brown would blend in with the stems and wouldn’t draw your eye.

    Hi Claudia, plant pots are fun in decorating. However, I have found over the years I gravitate towards the more neutral ones because then they blend in better with the colours I have in my home decor and highlight the beauty of the plant . Also, the plant pots that come attached to the saucers are great however I still place an additional transparent saucer underneath because I can’t tell until it’s too late if the water is still going to overflow. It’s great. You have several places to go plant shopping at this time of year. I’m definitely getting gardening withdrawal right now. 🤣🇨🇦🌸

    • @InTheGardenWithClaudia
      @InTheGardenWithClaudia  День назад

      That is such a great idea. The way I planted the money tree is definitely a temporary solution. I do need to add a brick and probably another saucer underneath it because you’re right sometimes it overflows and then you’re running around like a crazy person trying to get towels to wipe up all the water lol. Since our kitchen isn’t done yet, I’ve been putting all of the plants in my shower and watering them there so it’s not too much of a problem if they spill but I definitely want to plan for when they go in their permanent spots around our house. 🥰
      And yes, the withdrawals are real lol. I am grasping onto anything I can plant that gets my hands in soil. 😅

    Hello Claudia! I love how you had to go to the last garden center (which was beautiful by the way) to get the plant that had been on your mind! I do that! I can’t let it go! I may try to sand. I never use sand to top dress. I always use decorative small rocks in black or moss. Thanks for taking us shopping. It was a great start to my day. 😂❤

      Aww thanks Michelle!! I could not stop thinking about the watermelon peperomia and I'm so happy I got my hands on it. I woke up the day after and just spent the morning drinking coffee and admiring it. 🥰 I def like the sand, I'm curious to see how watering goes long term, Im like you and typically use little rocks. 😍

      @ I am so happy you found the Watermelon Peperomia and enjoying it. That is the best! Now that you say that about watering, I think I tried sand once, but why not try again! I have had house plants for years. Tomorrow I am taking two classes at my gardening center (one with my bestie), so maybe I will pick some decorative sand up. 🥰

    Hi Claudia 👋 Wish we had a Costco close to us. I NEED a water fountain ⛲ Here you can't have a pond, pool, etc in front yard without being fenced, if at all. (Children drowning etc.) What a beautiful drive... I love your choices of pots and plants 🪴 and how just adding a little bit of sand to dress them up makes such a difference. Thank you for sharing all the great tips. Loved shopping with you. Always Jen 💜

    Many retail nurseries buy their common plant stock from Costco and resell them at their nursery.

      Ahh me too Denise!! The grey ones are soooo beautiful! I keep asking our garden centers to bring in more. How is the weather, do you guys have snow yet? Also I am with you, counting the days to start planting!! 😆

      @ Oh yes! We had and have snow now ❄️ About 4 fresh inches over the 4 or so inches we had prior. The high the other day was 19* with a low of 1* 😳🥶 But the winter interest is gorgeous! We really were spoiled in 2024, we had warm temps way into December and I still didn’t get everything buttoned up, such is life 😁 When this snow melts I’m going to check on my hellebores ♥️ Our safe date to plant outside is mid May so I will be winter sowing the beginning of March. I’m cleaning up the house plants 🪴 this week. Combing some, giving some away. I really do have too many. And yes, that’s possible 😆. As a matter of fact I bought some seeds today! Blue bachelor buttons, pickle cucumbers, egg plant, cilantro - always cilantro, and carrots. My daughter is getting into gardening so I start veggies for her. I bought her the 5 tier tower last year for her birthday and we planted it up with strawberries, and herbs. She purchased a trio of raised beds for this year and she’ll be choosing what to grow soon enough. Fun 🌱

      Thank you. I know sometimes I get excited and I wanna pot them up right away, but I have found that some of the plants that we bring home and we just let them adjust. They tend to do a little bit better and are happier in the beginning versus pulling them out of their homes and transplanting them right away. I’m super excited for the watermelon peperomia. 🥰

    Thanks Claudia ,I love shopping 🌱 I am an orchid and fern person for house plants But at Christmas I had bought 3 lemon cypress and trying to keep them alive to plant in pots outside in the spring,I am watering almost everyday,but they get lots of sun in the widow .. Love Bergs pots and Campo ,I am a Big fan of dropping the plastic pot in until it needs to be replanted 😂. This was fun 🌿🌱

      lol you are my people. I killed our last lemon cypress because I forgot to water 🥲 but I do think they are beautiful and will be amazing in the garden! 😍 I have been seeing more and more Bergs pots pop up and it’s so hard not to buy all of them, but slowly building a collection. 😁

      @ I almost and still may buy a new Bergs pot ,it’s made to hang on the wall so no saucer, but I want to have it sit,so today I bought a round one thinking I could use the saucer from it ,then planted the round one with some small ferns , ivy and ….you guessed it it …
      a miniature orchid,so now back to no saucer for the pot I really want but this is CUTE Oh what tangled webs we weave 😂🤣😂

    When you top dress plants, isn't it harder to check the soil if it needs to be watered or not? I just wouldn't want to mess it up.

    • @InTheGardenWithClaudia
      @InTheGardenWithClaudia  День назад

      You know it definitely can be I won’t lie, and I think once you get to know your plants better you kind of know what their watering requirement is so it’s not that bad. I usually use something a little bit coarser, but this is what they had and so I wanna give it a try, but I usually do use smaller rocks, not on all plants though. The other thing you can do is bottom water where you just put your plants in a bucket of water and let them drink water from the bottom, but that’s not everybody’s favorite way to do it. 🥰
