Great information! My Johnny's cart is filling up already. I need to push the buy button before everything is out of stock. I grew some geranium seeds from Swallow Tail Farms last year and they were beautiful. So easy to grow and a real money saver. My daughter and I watch you every day and share notes. Thank you!
Aww Terry!! Thank you both so much!! Sending you and your daughter big hugs! I just learned about Swallow Tail and am drooling over their zinnias! I also want to try geraniums, thank you for the tip. 🤗🥰
Claudia - I’ve watched this probably 4-5 times in the background and keep having to rewind to see the flowers you’re taking about. Lisianthus is definitely a lot of labor but the 2 varieties (Roseanne black pearl and somehow ended up with a green varieties in the seed packet) I grew from seed was soo soo worth it! Enjoyed 2 seasons from 3 seedlings that germinated and overwintered! I am looking forward to seeing your flowers next season 😊
Aww Tammie thank you so much, you’re the sweetest!! I went back and added a couple of items to the cart, I couldn’t help myself. 🤭 I agree about the lisianthus, they are a labor or love but so worth it in the end. ❤️
I’ve been casually browsing Johnny’s website, but this reminds me I just need to order!! I really like it when you mention plants that look good in the landscape that you also cut from. You talked about this with your dahlias, and it’s so useful for a lot of us who aren’t just growing in rows to cut. Not a lot of people talk about it from that point of view. I’m growing in containers which is another variable. Thank you for sharing!!
Aww I love this!!! I love using flowers in the land space and am so happy you and others too. We have so many beautiful flowers on the way, I can’t wait to start them with you all. 🥰
I also grow and sell cut flowers and the ones i grew last year that surprised me the most, and I'm growing a ton more this year is Campanula! If you've never grown them, I highly recommend it!! They are one of my new favorites!!
Ohhh Aimee grab a chair and tell me more, lol. So I did grow them, maybe one tray and I got about 25. I planted them Out but they were kind of wimpy, and I was soooo looking forward to them. I’m going to try again. Were they a good bloomer for you?
@InTheGardenWithClaudia they were a repeat bloomer, but their first round was the most usable. But their beauty and vase life totally made up for it! They take a long time to get started (I just started mine last week, I'm in northern CA zone 8b, about an hour away from Janie but completely different growing conditions...I'm in the mountains towards Lake Tahoe and generally get tons of snow but I digress...) Last year was the first time I grew them. I planted out in March, and they bloomed at the end of June. This year, I'm overwintering some and starting some now to see the difference, so we shall see. I grow on a small scale with limited growing space, even tho we have 30 acres. It's mostly a Christmas tree farm, so I have to be very choosy with what I give space to. But you have inspired me to add more dahlias, so I'm super excited for this growing season 💚
Absolutely! I always like to think ahead in terms of what my arrangement recipes will look like and what I need to grow out to make beautiful arrangements. 💞
Your garden is going to be a riot of flowers, Claudia!!! Where will they all go?!! I can’t wait to see you grow your cut flower garden and grow into this expansion of your passion with selling! Sell enough to buy your farm 😉 I don’t think you mentioned Territorial Seed Company. I really love them, they are based out of Cottage Grove, Oregon. I also buy from The Thyme Garden out of Alsea, Oregon. I’m also looking forward to your update on buying Lisianthus plugs. I grew some from seed for the first time last year and it took 10 months IN my (unheated) greenhouse to bloom. I do not have that kind of time or patience! 😂
lol I laughed so hard about your mention on the lisianthus because I am right with you! They took FOREVER to do anything. I was literally like are you guys going to do something or what? 😆 I will def share my experience with the plugs. I’ll be growing some out here too in the next couple of weeks to get a jump start. In terms of all those flowers…. 😂 a lot of it will have to go in the landscape, the beds are going to be so full. I really hope selling bouquets goes well, you have no idea how much I dream about buying a bigger plot to expand everything. I’m so excited for this season either way, and I’m so happy to have your encouragement and everyone else’s. 🥹❤️ I have tried a couple of things from Territorial Seed Company, I got a couple of packets from Portland Nursery and they were great, I need to remember to see what the have next time I’m in. I haven’t tried Thyme Garden but I’m going to check them out, I love supporting local companies so that’s perfect! 🥰
WOW!!! The year before we had amazing snapdragons, they love the cooler temps. Last year was just a mistake on my end. I'm getting them start early on this year and trying some new things I've learned from other growers that I'm excited to share in our next video. 💗
Excited to see your 2025 garden! Are you growing any new dahlia varieties this year? I was inspired by your dahlia tours this past summer and am going to be trying to grow 33 varieties in 2025. Happy gardening 🩷
I love that Katelyn! Have you placed your orders yet? I do have several new ones I am trying to get my hands on, I need to make a list as of now it's just a bunch of screenshots in my phone. 🤭
I did fall/winter online dahlia sales so everything has been ordered luckily. I’m really excited to grow Peaches N Cream, Clearview Peachy, and Bracken Rose.
Hi Jen!! Happy New Year, and thank you! I know it was a bit of a longer video then usually but I had so much to share I'm happy you and others are finding useful information. I hope you have a great weekend! 😊
Oh my gosh,I didn’t know you were going to start selling flowers, you GO GIRL.💚 Learn something every time I watch. I don’t start many seeds anymore inside,I just don’t have room. I was lucky last year a friend ordered plugs ,pincushion and lisiathus and a bunch of others ,she offered me some, they did GREAT . You made some great choices. We grow lots of vegetables,so I don’t have lots of room except landscapes for flowers . I love the butterfly series of snapdragons but they do good in spring and fall, and sometimes come back if we don’t have a very cold winter, also pansies can’t grow here in summer but I plant in fall and they last till May . GOOD LUCK ON THIS adventure Excited to watch this unfold. Great video 💚….🌱. What zone are you in,I am 7a. Thanks,Pam
Hi Pam!! That is so nice you were able to get some starts, that's honestly such a great alternative if you don't have the space. Have you tried direct sowing some seeds? I won't lie, I have been so scared of moving into the space of selling flowers, but I told myself do it scared anyway. So here we go, I will be doing it and sharing my experience along the way with you all. Also I am in zone 8b here in the PNW (Beaverton, Oregon). 💞
@ I do direct sow things like sweet peas, sunflowers, zinnias,I have never done the winter sow in the jugs ..but for me to buy plugs,is not realistic I don’t need 72 of one plant,I am excited for you,the only way you learn is jumping in with both feet ,and you definitely have the passion and the knowledge,💚🌿🌱
They are so so fun, and I love the seeds too, so incredibly easy to grow out. I advent ordered plugs for the scoop varieties but oh my gosh I may have too!!! 🫠
❤ Hey girl!! This was fun! I shopped right along with you and we have the same taste, my favorite flowers I'm growing from seed are coneflower and cosmos, Phlox, all things Zinnia and snapdragons❤ last year I tried Lisianthus and it was a long slow grow but ended up loving them, they were one of the last flowers standing in my garden so I'm growing them again❤ thank you as always for Great content Claudia ❤ Happy new year
Hi Linda!! I'm so excited to read this and all the flowers you're growing! Cornflowers are AMAZING for cut flowers, I need to snag a couple of packets too. I'm right with you on the lisianthks but my gosh were they so so stunning! I'm starting those as soon as they arrive. 🥰
Following along with you and Johnnys, I’ve put in my order. Purple seems to be my theme! Have you started seeds by cold start? Laura from Garden Answer does but I’m zone 8b and want your thoughts? Thank you for all your suggestions; looking forward to following you this year in our gardens💚
That's so exciting Gayle, I LOVE a purple/blue pallet too! I I actually having a video coming up on winter sowing, so keep an eye out or that. I have a lot to share on this topic. 🥰
Aww Sheela!!!! The feeling is SO MUTUAL! Trust me I wish we could all shop together, maybe we will do a live next year?? That may be a fun way to do some shopping together. 🥰 Sending big hugs!
Lol!!! You KNOW I'm always going to be an enabler when it comes to flowers lol! But the important thing I tell myself is I never regret growing out all the flowers lol. I know I end up sharing A LOT of my starts with my neighbors and friends, but to me that makes me happy. 😆 I feel like it would be so fun to live near you and others here, we'd all have a blast seed starting together.
I got my Johnny's seed catalog in the mail the other day. I'm going to try not to go CRAZY! 😁 I already ordered some from Botanical Interests and Harris Seeds. I also have a couple packs of seeds from Floret left. Watching your video is giving me more ideas of seeds I may need. Thank you 🙂
I LOVE this! I wish we could all sit around a table and shop together lol. I need to check out Harris Seeds, did they have good germination for you? Also catalog day is always my favorite day. 😆
@InTheGardenWithClaudia this is my first experience with them. I will have to get back to you on that. I've had some trouble with my seed starting so hopefully I will have success. They were the only ones that I found that had the Bullseye salmon geranium. Also that would be awesome to be able to gather with people who have the same passion as me.
i love flowers but, i don't do good with seeds. i will try again and again but get no where. maybe 2025 will be the year lol. thanks for sharing with us. i love your selections.
Sonie I am sending you all the GOOD VIBES! Have you tried direct sowing? Flowers like zinnias, cosmos, sunflowers, amaranth all do exceptional when direct sown. 🥰
Wishful thinking? 😆 In all seriousness I am going to get natural repellent and perhaps starts the seeds in trays before planting them out. The BIGGEST and best thing that needs to happen is fixing our fence, that's really how they are getting in. I'm going to really focus on the sunflowers in terms of spraying repellent, they tend not to eat all of the other flowers all at once like they did with the sunflowers. In the past I've used Hot Pepper Wax Animal Repellent an d that works well for me.

Great video and perfect timing.. for reminder of thinking through the different flower categories when selecting seeds

My snapdragons were flowering in November… in western Washington. I was amazed.

Hi Claudia. I can’t wait to see them all in bloom 🤩 SO exciting!! Beautiful choices 💕
Thank you so much Denise, I can't wait for all the beauty we will have this summer! 💞
The Art Deco zinnia mix from Swallowtail gardens is a chefs kiss. I’ve grown it for many years and never gotten red
Again with another AMAZING recommendation. 🤩 When I tell you I got out my debit card so fast.... 😂
DEFINITELY get the Frizzle Sizzle Yellow-Blue Swirl pansy!! I work at a large garden center here in Ohio, we had those last spring and I LOVED them!!!
Ahhh thank you for the encouragement, I went back to my cart and got a packet. 😆
Good morning Claudia and Sergey 😊 This is a FANTASTIC video.. Great info! Thank you for sharing this with us! Have a beautiful day. Always Jen 💜

The paper moon scabiosa is so fun!! And I got a few plugs from a grower for scoop scabiosa and wowzers

Aww Sheela!!!! The feeling is SO MUTUAL! Trust me I wish we could all shop together, maybe we will do a live next year?? That may be a fun way to do some shopping together. 🥰 Sending big hugs!

I got the shimmer
Ooh what shimmer?
I ordered from J. A couple months ago when they first opened the 2025 catalog
Ooh okay, is this your first ordering from them? I will give them a looksy.
This was fun! Are you going to start all of these from seed? Thanks and happy new year!
I sure am. 😍 I usually start several thousands starts indoors, I will bring you all every step of the way. 🥰
Maybe some metal cages for the sunflower seedlings
Yes I thought of this, but I would need so much of it. 🥹
Ohhhh gurrrlll yes!!!
Right!!! I had myself a good time with this order. 😆
