Thought I'd give you a little context here- Just before the Fleischer's started production on this cartoon, a bunch off their best animators broke their contracts and split for Hollywood. The Fleischer Studio, by the way, was in New York City. At the time, excepting Disney, all the animation studios were in or around The Big Apple. Because seasoned animators were in limited supply, in desperation Dave Fleischer took a bunch of in-betweeners and assistants and promoted them to animation proper, Shamus Culhane and Al Eugster being the most prominent of the group. With the help of Grim Natwick and the remaining veteran animators who stayed with the Fleischer's, they produced "Swing You Sinners", which is the ninth entry in the Talkartoons series. I can tell you who animated certain scenes in "Swing You Sinners"- Bimbo fights the chicken- Grim Natwick. Cop chase-Willard Bowsky. Key eating gate and the singing gravestones- Seymour Kneitel. Singing grave and the Yiddish ghost- Al Eugster. Bimbo stuck in the clay and confronted with his sins- Shamus Culhane. Interior of the haunted barn up to scatting chicken spook- Rudolph Eggman. Scatting chicken spook and twerking ghosts- Shamus Culhane. "Where do you want your body sent?" barn and pursuing hobgoblins- Grim Natwick. Bimbo and the endless line of ghosts- Rudolph Eggman. And Bimbo in Hell eaten by the giant skull- Grim Natwick. Who animated the rest of the cartoon is a guess. Also, the music on the soundtrack- The cop chase- Big Boot Dance from Middleton's "Down South: An American Sketch". The singing gravestones- A section of Bloom's concert piece "Song of the Bayou". The Yiddish Ghost- "Mazel Tov" (The Fleischer's were Jewish and liked to put nods to the brethren in their cartoons). And, the cartoon parodies the hit song "Sing You Sinners", a pseudo-spiritual from a forgotten Paramount musical "Honey". Nobody has yet to discover who the group performing on "Swing You Sinners" soundtrack is, but, man they're a hot ensemble, aren't they? So, animation damnation courtesy of Max and brother Dave. One last point- A Bimbo used to be a dumb man, not a dumb woman. Somehow the gender switched over the years.

If Hieronymous Bosch were a cartoonist, this would be his masterpiece

This is the weirdest cartoon I ever watched. It starts out like a regular cartoon but for some reason he gets into trouble with the cops and gets chased to a grave yard where everything is trying to kill him. And for some reason I love it. The only problem I have is that it gets a little to crazy near the end but still is great it gets a 9/10.

To the makers of Cuphead, this short was a smorgasbord of gags.
