Dale! Simply awesome video. We have the exact same problem, same fridge. Easy to follow, excellent camera work. Thank you for saving us a lot of grief. (great music seclections too!)
Thank you so much! You taught me how to repair my fridge as well as how to enter and use the diagnostic modes. Some months ago I defrosted and put the fridge back in service. I ordered the sensor and put it on the door with a magnet. 😄Since then I've just run a defrost cycle when it makes noise. After my latest defrost the fan stopped entirely and the fridge locked itself in "cooling off" mode. I took it apart and ice had stopped the motor. I replaced the sensor. The old one reads 4.2K @ 72F. Strangely it reads 5K if you reverse the ohmmeter's leads. Anyway thank you again. Hopefully it's fixed for good.
The best video I have ever seen . You got right to the problem no stupid intro . I have been looking how to take the bottom door off so i can replace my ice maker. Thank you now i need to know how to put the cover back on the water filter cheers
Wonderful video. I might replace this preemptively. I was just in there diagnosing a knocking noise but it sounds like it's coming from higher up. Investigating the issue led me to figure out that the fan in the freezer wasn't running properly, and now I know why my fridge wasn't getting sufficiently cold! Gonna order a replacement and do the thermostat at the same time for insurance. Now, to figure out that knocking noise....
Thanks - currently running force defrost. I think this is our issue. Fan kicks on etc, but stops. Freezer is cold, but fridge isn’t. I also couldn’t find how to put this model fridge in test mode anywhere, so I appreciate the walk through.
One other thing to check because I have been going crazy. Fridge has all the same problems but heater and thermister good. Make sure the water drain is not clogged. Seems like a no brainer but that was my issue
Hi there - Thanks for the video! I had to replace my icemaker and even though that wasn't the end goal of this video, it was exactly what I needed to figure out the silly things like removing the drawer, and "do I turn the water off?"
Hi. I had all the symptoms you mentioned and so I thought Yeii I can do this. So I replaced the sensor on Friday … unfortunately the fridge is still warm. On the front panel I have the fridge setting in 4 stars and the freezer as well. What else could it be and is there another video ? I am wondering if it couAny help would be appreciated ?
Yes if you slowly select each option at a time one of them causes it to actuat. I can not remember which function as it's been over a year. Behind the fridge there should be an instruction manual showing each test function
Thank you for illuminating my issues! What would happen if I just did the "defrosting" steps you described? Would that be a short-term fix until I can get someone out to take it apart? Thank you.
@@daleofalltrades you are a lifesaver-thank you! I've been without a fridge for 2 days and can't get anyone to look at it. When I talked to an actual repair technician on the phone, they were no help whatsoever. I even told him about the ice and frost and he said that wasn't related. Thanks a ton.

Having the same exact refrigerator and same issue so Thanks for the awesome video. Very helpful (-:
Thanks for the video. Replaced sensor, the defroster definitely saved time, instead of hair dryer. Fingers crossed.
Glad to hear

Most helpful video for this model out there.

If you unplug the fridge it will not dispens water
Txs,Dale
You bet!

Could be the fan or the door that opens allowing cold from the freezer. You the panel to test all these functions
@@daleofalltrades On the panel is there a way to check the door that opens allowing cold from the freezer

That's what I did for months until I replaced the part. And it did fix it

@@jonibrander325 that is a prime example of why I try to fix everything myself.
Sorry to bother you, but I have the 3 snowflakes up and don't think I hear anything? How do I know the defroster is working? Thank you!
@@daleofalltrades so true and you are obviously very talented.
Do you unplug the refrigerator also
@@Legend-IAM I did not but it's not a bad idea to
Hi, excellent video. I will do this repair myself. First please share the part name and part number. What does the part cost ?
Link to the part is in the description
