You can see the fire and passion in his eyes when he talks about Muay Thai. Struggles to express himself in his limited English, but the message he gets across is no less poignant. Really, if you don’t do what you love, life hasn’t much meaning.

The meaning of life isn't to work. It's to grow in consciousness. Work has nothing to do with it.

It hurts so much in the heart when Professor Gae speaks of the lack of having gone to the end and conquered his dream of being a champion, every word is loaded with much sadness, otherwise it becomes evident how he stands along with his fighters such as " he fights "their struggle. We get older and become more sensitive and empathic with the next.

Thank you very much for the video! So inspiring and sad at the same time...
I have started muay thai only 6 months ago and I just fell in love with it. I have started training twice a week and hell it was hard at first (after a decade of heavy drinking and smoking) but now I can go train 5 times a week and mostly after work (10/11 hours a day of physical work) and I can really feel that my body can take it. I used to have a back, hip and shoulder pain but this is all gone now. I have gained so much flexibility, strength and cardio. Muay thai is special to me as I have never felt like this before. I simply can't imagine my life without it now and I would love to be trained by such a man "one day". Practising and getting hurt, learning from others and yourself, observing different techniques and try to get better by owning your body and then you "feel it without thinking" ooooh yeah you know what I'm talking about!!! This is a lifetime journey that I am willing to embrace. I am 27 years old and even though I wish I had started at a younger age, it is never too late to start. I have never been this happy before and to me this is what it's all about, I want to do things that make me happy and live my life to the fullest.

Master Roshi: "Always remember these words: Work hard! Study well! And eat and sleep plenty. That is the way! We must master the art of peace in addition to the art of war!"
You’ve seen his punishing padwork with his students in the viral videos on social media. You’ve gawked at the bold display of 'sak yant' tattoos across his chest and back, and feel intimidated.
As scary as he may look in the ring, Ajarn Gae is a dedicated Muay Thai trainer who cares about the improvement of the fighters under his charge.
In this interview, you get to see a side of Ajarn Gae that you may not have seen before. He shares intimate stories of his life, and talks about the disappointment of his shattered childhood dreams that turned him into monkhood for 10 years.
One thing that comes through is that Ajarn Gae absolutely LOVES Muay Thai. He loved fighting, he loves teaching it, he wants to make his students strong. When his students fight in the ring, he says, “my heart fight together.”
Will you be his next Goku and Krillin?...

This man embodies the attitude that makes me love Muay Thai. I love other martial arts, from Western Boxing to BJJ, but Muay Thai has a certain spirit of it's own that makes it so worth while and enjoyable.

You can do what your heart and mind wills. How you are now does not matter. You just have to want to improve and you will, no matter age, condition, setbacks, anything. If I didn't believe this, I would not be typing this message right now--I'd be dead or invalid in a hospital bed.

I love his style of training, old school. It may look brutal and unnecessarily tough, but pushing you past what you think are your limits only makes you grow as a fighter. It's the same mentality that special forces training embraces. Not only does it make you physically stronger, but it makes you mentally stronger because when you're tired and you think you can't continue, that type of training will make you realize that you are capable of so much more than you thought. When you can push past what you think your limitations are, only then can you truly grow, as you begin to realize that you are capable of so much more. While there are many ways to achieve that type of mindset, for a fighter, his approach, in my opinion, is probably the best way to get there. Because like he says, once you step into that ring, the fighter standing across from you wants to hurt you, he wants to knock you out. And if you get tired or are hurting, they're not gonna stop and say, "Oh, are you tired? You wanna take a break and maybe catch your breath"? No, they're gonna turn it up a notch and pour it on you until they either hurt you or knock you out. When that happens you have to be able to push past your perceived limits to survive.

So interesting with a lot of Thai boxers: a tornado of destruction when training/fighting and so warm, humble, and light-hearted when not. "Mastery of art of war and art of peace" personified.
