Many of Raphinha's weaknesses would disappear with better players around him. Context is key. His team, his role and his instructions are important things to remember when analyzing.
Sure. Like his crossing is really good but the movement of his teammates is that bad that it makes him the worst crosser in the list.
Well his weaknesses have been well pointed out so far at a big club, a very decent player but I wouldn't have him at Liverpool, Luis Diaz is far superior for example

One year later, he has made clear progress heading with a few important goals for Barça and Brazil, and to have Lewandowski in the area has made his crossings much more effective. His defensive work remains strong, but his success rate at dribbling remains poor (and looks worse because he has Dembele as a rival for the rw position + the precedents of brasilians in Barcelona sets a higher standard in terms of expectations). So, i would say your analysis has been proven right. Let's hope he keeps improving.
Great analysis, however, I've also noticed, that Full Backs hate playing against him, and there is a measure of panic when he has the ball. If other teams are struggling with the stats, as you are, that's fine by me
Yep the eye test can sometimes tell us something the stats don’t. Hence why I think he has the makings of a top player.

A very astute and thoughtful analysis of Raphinha's play.
After his the way he played in the final match of the season with Leeds, plus his reaction at the end of the match, he seems to have been 100% committed to Leeds, although his celebrations with the supporters seemed to be saying goodbye to them.
His cash value at the end of the season has gone up as more clubs have recognised his skills. I understand his preferred move would be to Barcelona, so I hope that Barca can find the money to beat off the competition for the sale.
There was a drop off in the quality of Raphinha's play when Bielsa left Leeds, but as the new manager took charge, Raphinha seemed to be inspired and happy to be at Leeds.
I hope that if Barca can't find the money to buy him, then he doesn't make the mistake of rushing off to some club where he wouldn't be able to use and develop his skills to become the best that he could be. Another season at Leeds wouldn't harm his career if the right club isn't there for him.

Good analysis, albeit I would suggest he's actually better than his weaker stats suggest, for the reason that unlike most of the other "elite" wingers he's been playing for (my team) Leeds, who have just had a terrible season. Elements like link play, long pass completion etc are surely not helped by playing with a constantly shifting squad of walking-wounded, teenagers, and ailing championship players. The purest test of quality remains watching him play 90 minutes every week and scare the living sh#t out of the opposition.
A fair point Chris - which we alluded to in the video ie he has to take more risks for Leeds than he does for Brazil for instance.

If you watch any highlight video of Raphinha, they often cut away after a dribble because its usually a loose pass afterwards. I don't see him fitting in a top tier team. Lukaku was just as bad at weighing his passes and you see players around him making safer runs to ensure they receive the return pass. It holds back the team.
He can be a great player under xavi !!
I wouldnt compare Raphina too much with Di Maria. Here's more like Ziyech from his time at Ajax. Allways looking for a goal threat, works hard, but his directness means that he will make a lot of attemps that are risky and it shows up as wastefull on the statistics.
Also where he feels comfortoble reminds me of Ziyech, Ziyech does have an incredible pass in him.
Di Maria also has a fantastic pass on him. Where Raphinha is different to a Ziyech is that he’s more athletic and can beat a man round the outside as well as drive inside - he’s more of a risk taker too.. all of these are Di Maria style attributes. He’s also very street in terms of tricks ... Ziyech is more of a possession type player who keeps ball and relies heavily on his passing to make an impact or long shot - he can’t really go on mazy runs which are super aggressive.
Go and watch some live football idiot then u know ziyech is lot different from raphinha the only reasons clowns like u think they similar is becoz their foot moment is similar, raphinha has gud workrate and got decent pace which both thing ziyech lack for a winger atleast don't type a paragraph when u nvr watched them play

As mentioned, certain stats will improve when playing with better players. For example possession will increase.
Raph's problem with Long balls is that he is thinking 2 seconds quicker than many of the Players around him.
Possibly but it is the passers job to think about the limitations of the receivers and adapt the pass accordingly.

Whilst Darwin Nuñes fixed price of 75M, that can go up to 100M based on bonus is really out of my head. I can't explain that move. Darwin was a solid 40M up to 60 M based on bonuses type of player for me.
City paid 41M Fixed price that can go up to 85M for Haaland.

I was looking for this video now that raphinha may play for Barcelona. In conclusion, I think he isn't better than Dembele in his best moments, but he's a more complete player. The main problem is if he would be able to adapt his way of playing.
Very astute analysis there. Dembele has a higher ceiling at his best, but questionable as to how long he can maintain that. I’m sure Raphina can adapt to being more selective with his passing.

Yes for me he’s an upgrade on Ziyech. I find him to be very overrated. Raphinha more dynamic and can hurt more down the outside with superior pace and just more of a risk taker in general.

@@JohnBlessed5 If you want to know who of Raphinha or Antony would fit Xavi's system better, I'd go for Raphinha 100%. He is a harder worker, better passer and really has physicality to his game and also uses that to not dive as much. His defensive workrates and cutting in passes is something Xavi has been teaching Dembele rn, but Raphinha has it naturally. Dembele/Antony will probably be better in a pure 1v1 and cross, however Raphinha would defenitely give more quality in front of goal. Hence why I think Antony/Dembele will work better next to a poacher (like Haaland, Auba, Kane, Haller,...) and Raphinha in an attack where Fati or Ferran will be the CF. Both aren't poachers, but make dangerous runs or can open up space for an cutting inside pass/shot.
To be honest …on this evidence?..
He may as well stay at Leeds …

Many people including one of my friend label him as the "greatest midfielder of his generation" which I think is too much. Coming from a completely unbiased point of view, I personally think scholes was a better player than xavi because the things xavi was good at, scholes was nearly as good in addition to scholes being a much bigger goal threat. I think people just get carried away because of the legendary team he played in. What are your thoughts on the matter?
There is no denying that Scholes had more range to his game. He was also very unlucky that he was not able to come through a nation which had a lot of great midfielders of a similar mindset for him to dominate with.
Having said that Xavi was able to dominate every game at every level and in his absence, Barca and Spain have never looked as fluid or dominant since - so for me he does deserve to be in the discussion if not the victor of the debate of "Greatest Midfielder Of His Generation".
