Depending on how close the truck driver was to the ambulance when it pulled out, all you can do is chalk this up to being a horrible accident. Semi's aren't like our passenger cars that can stop on a dime. A fully loaded semi can take several hundred feet to come to a complete stop. Even though by first appearances this appears to be a tragic accident, that truck driver will carry that burden with him/her for the rest of their life.
It is truly bad I agree with you a truck driver can’t stop on a dime by looking at the accident it really does feel like the ambulance pulled in front of the truck quicker than you know
It's possible the truck didn't have enough time to stop and then see them either way it's a really tragic situation prayers and condolences to family and Friends
What a horrible tragedy for everyone involved😢 everyone wants to talk about who is at fault, the important thing to remember is that two young lives were lost while trying to help others, and another seriously hurt. Their loved ones lives will never be the same
Ambulance pulled out from a side street onto a major road. Yes he had lights and sirens on and other cars have to yield to him, but he still has to clear that intersection before he goes through it. Trucks are not like cars, they cant stop as fast. Especially when loaded. It's unfortunate that this accident lead to a death, but based on the current facts available i would say the driver of the ambulance is at fault.
You are so correct!! They have to watch what is coming down the road, stop at stoplights if need to and stop signs. There was a crash that took place in Elk River MN where a ambulance went through a red light and collided with a car and the person going to the hospital died! So yes it is an emergency but they still have to watch out for other drivers. They were at fault for the accident!!
Agreed, we are taught to drive defensively and to clear the intersection before proceeding. Expect nobody to pull over and stop, expect nobody to give you right away. If you do expect them to pullover you’re naive or new like this driver. Not to be critical of the dead, but for anybody who’s driven an ambulance you realize this within the first few shifts. Perhaps it was an angled intersection, and in that case I could understand that there may be a blind spot depending if your rig has blind spot cameras, but regardless for all future EMS don’t expect people to stop for you or give right away.
Lights and Sirens doesn't grant the immediate right of way. It's a request for the right of way. You have to give people, especially a truck driver, time to react. You shouldn't pull your ambulance in front of a truck traveling down a road and assume the driver had enough time to react.
Do you know exactly what happened? Do you know how far the truck was away? Do you know anything? Why do you people always blame the emergency vehicles?
Please people, don't be quick to judge. The Truck driver might have had a health problem right then and couldn't recover. There's a reason events are called accidents. Prayers for everyone.

People who are criticizing the firefighter don’t understand that we go through EVOC courses and have to have special licenses to be able to drive an emergency vehicle, they just don’t throw us in there without any experience. Also, ambulances have an insane amount of blind spots that we have to keep clear, we have to keep an eye out for the always present distracted drivers who don’t pay attention, we have to make sure we’re driving as a smoothly as possible so our patient is able to receive treatment, and making sure we stay with in our allowed speed limit. We are VERY much aware that if we miss something it could have tragic consequences. But, sadly and in rare instances, and no matter how much we try to avoid them, incidents like this still occur. And, it hurts like hell.
I chock that up to an inexperienced ambulance driver not realizing the abilities or inabilities of the loaded truck to be able to stop or slow down in time to avoid this tragic accident. Prayer's to the EMT as well as his partner and especially the truck driver who will live with this for the rest of his life. Trucks can not stop or slow down instantly because he see's lights and sirens. I'm sure there will be a full investigation by the DOT in Arizona and I hope the truck driver isn't found at fault or negligent or he will never drive commercially again, althought he may choose not to drive again after the loss of life accident he was involved in. May the ambulance driver RIP and prayer's to all involved as well as to the families of all involved.
There’s no excuse for the truck driver. I know the they said the ambulance made a turn. You are able to hear the sirens well before they actually get to you. You always slow down when you hear a siren until you know that it is in the opposite lanes of traffic.
@@xin5aneshot410 Just curious, how many miles do you have sitting behind the wheel of a semi hauling a heavy load hearing the drone of the cat. You will probably see it before you hear it.
