    my parents married in 1942 and bought one similar to that one, except the base ring on theirs is about 5" - 6" high. they took very good care of it, so it didnt need any restoration. i've had it for a few years now, and have used it several times... the waffles always release easily and are delicious - especially yeast waffles.

    Hello from our farm in New Hampshire. It took me two years to find the Griswold # 7 waffle iron of my dreams. Finally found a 1908 in VT in mint condirion. It has the cool coil spring handles. It had never been stripped. Someone had been used it over the decades, to a glossy perfection. I paid $113.00. It works so well on our 1930 kitchen wood stove. The Home Comfort took me a year to restore, so I was grateful for the pristine waffle iron! Mine looks similar to yours. If you have email, I can send you a photo.
    Thanks for the cooking tips and the great recipes. ~ Diane

    On your e-tank, which is very nice I might add. Something that I use on mine is suspending the cast iron from a 3/4" copper pipe with holes drilled in it to hold long threaded hooks. Having the threads allow the hooks to be adjustable for depth. You could just wrap the wire around the pipe. This will allow you to clamp the charger to the end of the pipe to energize everything. I use stainless steel anodes in mine too. It's much easier to clean.

    • @turdferguson5300
      @turdferguson5300 2 года назад

      @@georgea6403 I've heard that from people who have never tried it. At the amperage we use (38 amps and less) it doesn't hurt anything. I've had leads spark right over the tank. I discovered something about cleaning anodes also. Hang a piece of metal where your skillet would go and change your leads. The performance of my tank depends on how clean my anodes are. I experimented with cleaning cast iron inside a bag that contained the mess kinda like a tea bag. A pillowcase seemed to be the best thing I've found. I zip tie a pool noodle around the opening of the pillowcase so all the sludge stays trapped. I hose the pillowcase out between pieces and the tank stays much cleaner. A paint mixer on a drill makes it easy to add the Laundry Booster. I clean for two estate sale companies plus myself so I really don't know how many hundred pieces that have been in the tank. I feel like I can say with confidence that this works. Good luck and enjoy the hobby.
