Excellent work sir! Same issue with my van, same year, same model. However I'm just gonna buy a new fuse box with relays and start over. Re-route all the bad shorts/wire with new wire thru that and call it a day. It's an old van so it's a matter of time before all the other wires go bad one day. Thank you for this video!
Dude, you're a genius. (F-350) I knew my bulbs were good by turning on flashers, fuse and switch were good because power trailer brake module indicated brake condition so I was stumped. Came here and found your cure with the emergency flasher switch sticking. Cycled it several times and that did the trick. Thanks for saving me hours in hot July weather.

Awesome, awesome video. After much head scratching, checking wires, and replacing the multifuntion switch to no avail, I came across your video (at 2am). Seeing the path of the wiring spelled out in the video, I was able to trace the issue to a failing relay. Replaced the relay and brake lights are working again. A sincere thank you for putting this together.
My 98 E150 is doing the same thing! I'm about to do some troubleshooting that I learned from watching your video and will be back in touch shorty!! Wish me luck!!
Dude awesome video. I'm from illinois but my parents just moved down to Lakeland Florida. I would definitely recommend you and your shop. People should give you their business.
I'm having the same problem with a 2004 E250. No power to the brake lights but power to all of the components. I didn't know to check the number 5 lead on the relay, that's a good tip. I'll study your diagram to see if I've missed something. It just needs to be found. Probably the same wire that broke your 2002.
@@CoopersAutomotiveRepair Honestly, I don't remember precisely. I do recall that your video led me to the solution. I had nothing but trouble with the whole lighting system. Bad sockets, after market wiring. I vaguely recall having to fiddle with the high brake light. Then it went out too. I had to replace the high brake light lens because it leaked. Be warned, if you have a sound mat on the floor, if the lens leaks it will dribble down the inner channels and saturate the mat and there goes your cargo floor. After replacing the floor I switched all lamps to LED and rewired the amateur harness. Another thing I did was replace all the lamp covers with clear lenses and used colored bulbs. It looks great, but my best result is the backup lights are nice and bright now. It's all fixed. Thanks for the video. It would have taken me forever to do it without you.
Consider yourselves fortunate....i have issue on '97 Ford F53 chassis RV with working marker lights, front turn lights but no tail lights (turn, brake or reverse)...only 35ish feet between wiring connections....the tip to jumper around the brake light switch was worth the price if admission! Thx! and oh yeah, somewhere along the way there was a trailer wire harness that is totally thrashed... don't give a darn about trailer lights but who knows how it was wired so i have to trace everything. Been putting this off for, oh, months. ;)
Awesome job on the van. My 15AMP break light fuse keeps burning out on my 99 Tacoma.I observed both tail light wireing and only saw one kinked or cracked wire in the back drivers side (left?) tail lights which was also green with a white stripe so I spliced it with a little red crimp splicer.
@@CoopersAutomotiveRepair Hey I have 2010 crown vic police intercept and all 3 brake lights are not working. My tail lights and turn signal works but no brake lights. I replace the brake switch and lighting control module and even tried a different bulb and still no brake lights. Any ideas?

@@CoopersAutomotiveRepair I have not! Haven't had a lot of time to keep looking but have heard that it could be my brake light switch relay (whatever it's called) that's mounted to my brake pedal? Do you think that's a strong possibility?
@@CoopersAutomotiveRepair It's definitely not the bulbs. However, could be the hazzard light button sticking as you tried at the beginning of the video. I'm going to try that tomorrow and see if it works..If not I'm gonna have to get one of those power probes so I can check more things. It gets me by during the day by pulling my headlights on to make it light up to appear as a brake light but can't pull that off at night. lol
Great video, thanks for sharing. I have a 2008 E 250 that when I push the brake pedal the left turn signal light on the dash comes on, the other problem is that when I used the left turn signal both brake lights come on. I already checked the bulbs and is nothing wrong there. I know that this vans are wired so one wire controls turn signals, hazard and brake lights. A mechanic changed already the turn signal switch but that did not fix the problem. I am thinking that maybe the hazard light switch is not working properly but the hazard lights work fine. Is there a relay or module that controls the turn signals and brake lights? I don't have access to a diagram, maybe you can share a link on where to find one. Thanks

I also just tested the fuse socket under the hood. one post has 20volts all times other has nothing at all. pls help
I think me mean 12 volts. Have you tried bypassing the brake light switch with a jumper wire? All so Try wiggling the four-way flasher button. If you wiggle the four -way flasher button and the brake light start working. The turn signal switch is bad. Try this and get back to me.
If you jump the org wire to the light blue wire the brake light should come on. If they do. Your new brake light switch is bad. the switch supply s the voltage to the brake light on the light blue wire
I was wondering if you had an idea about the brake lights on my 95 superduty 7.3 diesel. My 3rd brake light works but I have no brake lights at the tail lights. Turn signals and parking lights are fine. I have been checking the wiring, fuses, brake light switch etc. but without a wiring diagram it's obviously a difficult job. I'm thinking it may be in the turn signal switch but was wondering what your thoughts are.
Yes it can be very difficult without a wiring schematic. If voltage is crossing over the brake light switch. In the fuse is good. And I would suspect a turn signal switch
