The annoying part is most people have no education how our system is and think anyone can buy these things up here without understanding that guns are technically completely banned up here already and we have to get permission from the government to use and own them.
Its because Canadian politicians aren't trying to fix issues, they just want to grand stand on them. They lament on climate change, implement a carbon tax that will cost an average of 4500$ per family per year. But then send back all their gov worker back to the office, so they can consume more carbon, cause more traffic and have a bigger impact on the environment. This is just 1 of the many issues I could bring up. Its a joke and people who still fall for this government, I'd ike to discuss with you about a bridge I have for sell.
If the government paid attention to their own stats - they would see how low the airsoft injury rate is. They don't care. Our country is pretty broken right now.
It's not an issue with the injuries. It is an issue with people finding glorification from roleplaying at shooting people. Although it's more of roleplaying at killing people with firearms, since you are actually shooting people. It seems to be a pretty simple activity to scrutinize. If the intent is to address that issue though you address the activity itself not the tool.
It seems like the whole firearms act should be scrapped and replaced with something that makes objective sense in light of actual violent crime and the impeccable track record of licencees.
This is kinda what I've been saying. The current system of firearms regulation should/needs to be torn down to the nuts and bolts, and be reconstructed or outright replaced with something based on factual data. But doing that would sink a party's chance at reelection. Canadians see us (gun owners) as the enemy, and don't care about an actually reasonable approach to gun regulation.
It's 2023. You'd think they could write laws that don't require tremendous nerdery to unpack. There ought to be a law that no other law may include within a single sentence more than one use of a comma, semicolon or of the words "and" "but" "not" "Includes" "excludes" "notwithstanding" or variations thereof.
I am an airsoft player myself, and I can assure you that airsofters are fun people, I have met a lot of really great friends by playing the sport, and the community in general gets really upset with anyone who is irresponsible with airsoft guns, whether that be using them in public as props, in crimes, or for malevolent purposes. The government should just leave our damn sport alone, it's great physical activity, it is fun, it is an excellent team building resource, and you get to meet a lot of different people of all different ages and backgrounds. Healthy sport all in all. We need to make sure Airsoft stays legal.

When it comes to law it’s best to assume they think everything is illegal and prepare to defend yourself from rouge or unlawful police invasions or attacks. That’s the public perspective law has created.
There was a guy at a local hospital not long ago that managed to nail his finger to a 2x4 with a nail gun. They had to hammer the nail back through the 2x4 a bit so they could cut the nail off.

Yup mentioned nail guns, anyone can walk into a hardware store and buy not only one but the blanks as well. Let's take Home Depot for example. The 22blanks are just lying out in the shelf for any one to grab, regardless of age or having a firearms licence.

I know you have to cut your video somewhere but I would have been interested to hear you talk about powder actuated tools. A nail gun with gun powder. I've heard some people out of jail on conditions have to get special allowances from the court to use bail guns and box cutters in the regular course of their job because they're weapons/fire arms.
I am honestly disgusted by all the political parties at this point, and not just about the recent spate of stupid/power mad bills. Shame to see the state of the NDP, they at least use to care about workers, but not any more as demonstrated during the trucker protest.
NDP are still a "workers" party. Thing is, they only care about select urban workers. For the most part, they have transformed in to a centrist urbanite liberal party. That's where the money and votes are at. Not surprising really, the vast majority of Canadians live in cities (for some inexplicable reason), and fundamentally believe that Canada is the "wise", "reasonable", "civilized" and "benevolent" benefactor of North America. The idyllic "good country". Firearms ownership violates that constructed, propagandistic image. NDP are just playing the game. The definition of Canada should be "no substance, head empty" at this point. The best we got is "we're not America" apparently, that's just sad.
Looking at any bureaucracy making logical adjustments to bills, does warm my heart. We have to take these sparks of sanity when they occur and treasure them.😉
The "spark of sanity" would be to cancel any existing laws about guns and let hunters, airsofter, plinkers, sportshooters TOTALLY design new laws and imbeed then in the constitution so no one could touch them ever again after. The politicians should have NO SAY over anything in this.
Totalitarian progressives aren't liberal. They just call themselves Liberal. The Conservatives are now more liberal than the Liberals. Independence of the judiciary, independence of the media, the right not to be punished for the crimes of others, freedom of expression and speech: what haven't the Liberals shown utter contempt for lately? They are about as liberal as China is a people's republic.
Movie prop guns have a special exemption in Canadian firearms laws - the prop houses, however, have to maintain a special license with heavy restrictions. If you don't have this license (i.e. doing a college film or some stupid TikTok), then no movie props for you.
When you mentioned fake guns that look like real guns, you made me want to ask what about pipe guns? Objects that look like a firearm but aren't firearms, and sometimes look just like 2 pipes. Would possessing 2 pieces of pipe constitute an offense? of being replica firearms?
I do believe it is legal to possess as long as they are made to be within the specs of the classification of firearm you're licensed to possess. So, if you can only possess non-restricted firearms, you have to observe minimum barrel and overall lengths. Keep in mind that it is absolutely illegal to transfer, sell, gift, or otherwise give a homemade firearm to any person regardless if they are licensed or not. You need a manufacturer's license to do that. And, no, two simple pipes are not considered replica firearms unless they replicate with full or near precision a particular, real, production firearm. So, if you make these two pipes look closer to, say, a Welrod or a B&T VP9, that's grounds for prosecution.
If a non-functioning replica is a problem what would happen with a toy Han Solo blaster? It’s essential a Mauser C96 and would maybe be close enough to the real thing to count.
@@RunkleOfTheBailey I am in the U.S.. How did they justify banning blow darts? Were there a lot of crimes being committed with blow darts? For that matter, were their a lot of crimes being committed with fire arms?
I am glad for the airsoft players. However, I have a question about the upcoming rifle magazine capacity changes. It's not clear if the future mag capacity requirements of five rounds will be implemented for bolt action rifles. Currently semiautomatic rifles are limited to five rounds. I currently own a Ruger 77/22 hornet bolt action which has a six round plastic rotary magazine which will not be easily converted to five rounds. Almost all of the rifles used for precision rifle shooting also have and use ten round magazines for competition. Is there any indication in the legislation of this issue.

Sooooo... movie sets/plays? Obviously from recent news movie sets are going to be using more replica guns. To get around this "no replica" rule you would have to use a by-definition firearm i.e. replica pellet gun? By plugging the barrel to make a replica pellet gun safe would that then make it a true non-firearm replica therefore illegal? Is there an exemption for replicas for entertainment purposes? If so would airsoft be considered for entertainment? There is a play in Toronto called Bullets on Broadway a Virtual Murder Mystery. Wonder how they are working this?
so that is why. now i understand thanks, i always fineded it wierd that airsoft bellow 366 fps were illegal in canada but its because it may be not powerfull enough to puncture and eye ball (even if i doubt it wouldnt). i supose there you need to have a big change in law to allow less powerfull airsoft to be legal
And not or. If I had to be shot with one I know which one I would pick. The difference of course is surface area to absorb that energy (providing the math is correct, I didn’t bother to even check if passed the sniff test). Given the fastest serve speed ever recorded is about 70 m/s I doubt you could a tennis ball launcher that could get to 150 m/s. One modified to get to 150 m/s would likely shred the tennis ball.
@@dwaynepenner2788 The .40 S&W is probably worse but it wouldn't surprise me if a tennis ball at 150 m/s was lethal through sheer blunt force trauma. Since you brought it up, the energy of a 57 g tennis ball at 70 m/s is only about 140 J. Speed has a big impact on kinetic energy since it is squared in the calculation. I won't speculate about the resilience of tennis balls but I will point out that the physiological limits of a human swinging a racket and the structural limits of a tennis ball are two completely different things.
@@MarvinCZ you brought up energy, and made a comparison that seems to assume a 150 m/s tennis ball is normal. I'm pointing out it isn't normal, maybe not even possible. So what were you trying to say with your first post.
@@dwaynepenner2788 I never said it was normal. Runkle brought up tennis balls propelled to 150 m/s (or rather 500 fps) in the video so I commented what energy that would have.
I'm curious, and please excuse my stupidity; I recently bought a Crosman Panther Arms DPMS and I was wondering if this may become illegal or not and I heard from a friend that it's illegal to buy scopes etc from the US and have it shipped over the border. Does this cause a red flag with border patrol etc?
So if you 3d printed a nerf gun would that technically be an illegal replica? Theres a huge community of custom nerf guns, theres even a whole reddit dedicated to it.
If I understood correctly no, for two reasons. The copycat nerf would fire therefore it would be a firearm not a replica. If the copycat was nonfunctional then the item it replicated would not have enough muzzle speed for the copy to be considered a replica firearm.
I assume these theoretical replica dog-ball-launchers and nailguns would be incapable of firing a projectile, or of firing one at the necessary speed or energy, in order to qualify as replicas, since, as you mentioned, they would otherwise qualify as weaponry in their own right?
So idk if I'm missing something here, but are there not a lot of airsoft guns that look like, say a M4 carbine? Sounds like that would be banned, which means that they are banning airsoft guns. EDIT: Ahh nevermind, airsoft/BB gun that actually discharges a projectile is considered a "firearm" so it's not a replica, gotcha. Thanks Canada, very cool.
Gun crimes are illegal, shooting people or at people is illegal. Let’s not waste any more time and money on law or law making on this topic. CASE CLOSED if they know what’s good for them. Law is just an excuse.
My entire pellet gun collection shoots under 500 fps but most of them also have the PAL (500+ fps) version available for sale. Does my gun become a "copy" because something that looks exactly the same and shoots faster is existing somewhere in the world ?

The fact is America is a society rapidly facing degradation. 70-80% of Americans live paycheck to paycheck. Millions don't have access to healthcare. Many people in the deep south have been described as "living in third world conditions". Minority communities continue to be exploited for cheap labour and profits. Lack of sufficient education limits opportunities. Various studies show that suburbia and car dependency in America, actively and directly harm the mental health of individuals. This has lead to an extremely paranoid society. These are the root causes of gun violence in America. Not necessarily guns themselves. The number of guns and the type of guns partly play a role for sure. In that they exacerbate an already open wound. And yes, gun control may be a bandage to stop the bleeding, it still won't address the core issues at hand. Canada is facing a similar road as our country further stagnates and willingly submits to capital's ever increasingly odious demands. I often compare American and Canadian gun laws, as being on extreme ends of the spectrum. Especially in comparison to Europe, which allows access to firearms and firearms accessories that Canadian gun enthusiasts can only dream of, but is still heavily regulated enough that mass shootings are a rarity. I consider European stance on firearms to be the Gold standard that Canada should embrace. But I never truly shake the nagging thought at the back of my head. "What if America and Canada, are to far gone?" Meaning that perhaps, there is no turning the situation around? TLDR: What if America and Canada are so damaged, that there is no solution?
@@dwi2921 interesting viewpoint. It was supposed to be a defence against a corrupt government or something if I have that right. I may not. But now it’s an epidemic of violence. I hear about things happening there almost daily. @@pocowoso1436 In an ideal world, where people were universally responsible and dangerous people weren't created (accidentally or otherwise) or existed, I would agree with you. But we don't live in that world. As to licensing, do all firearms need to be licensed? Well we know for a fact that isn't the case. Revolvers, manually operated shotguns (with the apparent exception of pump/slide actions) and manually operated pistol caliber carbines for example, probably don't need particularly aggressive licensing or even licensing at all. Nor do antique/obsolete black powder firearms. On the otherhand, we know for a fact that some firearms do need licensing. Modern/ish rifles chambered in intermediate and full power cartridges, semi-automatic handguns and shotguns, and pump/slide shotguns, do seemingly require stricter (even extremely strict) licensing. If evidence is anything to go by that is. The situation is a bit to complicated to boil down to the generic pro-gun vs anti-gun, or liberty vs authority arguments, imo. Evidence and cost benefit analysis are required in this discussion. I will agree with you somewhat on your point about the US, in places like California. Bans of firearms ultimately are just feel good policy that the anti-gun crowd use to pat themselves on the back. They don't solve any thing. I will also agree with you on rights somewhat. But every right has limits, meaning my rights end wherever your face begins. Meaning the right to sustenance hunting, comunity, family, home and personal/public defense, shouldn't interfere with the lives of others. Which in the US, they most certainly do with no regulation on what can and cannot be owned for those purposes. Everything in life is a series of trade offs. Meaning that the answer is usually somewhere in the middle and in the few extraneous situations where it isn't, it's blindingly obvious to the point where people are not going to argue.

Aren’t hockey pucks and sticks associated with more injury than AirSoft? Do you think that they could have a buy back in mind for hockey sticks? 😊
Just proof that this was never about public safety.
Nerf dog ball launcher: A-Ok
Nurff Dawg Ball Launcher: Sorry we need to see your permit.
Glad you covered this
Thank you for clarification of the Bill21 situation
What?! No tie on the doorknob 😢. hmmm. seriously, thx for the vid Sir Runkle. ✌🏻
My son has a fake nail gun. I think we need a lawyer now. 😂
It's 2023. You'd think they could write laws that don't require tremendous nerdery to unpack. There ought to be a law that no other law may include within a single sentence more than one use of a comma, semicolon or of the words "and" "but" "not" "Includes" "excludes" "notwithstanding" or variations thereof.
The government doesn't want laws that are easy to understand. They would be too easy to obey and too hard to governments to abuse.
Need to make sure all firearms remain legal. Everything you said applies to the real steel range too

Yup mentioned nail guns, anyone can walk into a hardware store and buy not only one but the blanks as well. Let's take Home Depot for example. The 22blanks are just lying out in the shelf for any one to grab, regardless of age or having a firearms licence.
Mendicino was bragging about under Bill 21 about new red flag and yellow flag laws attached to it. I read the bill but didnt see anything tabled under it. Not that I'm the sharpest knife in the drawer but Im not a spoon either, anyone with knowledge of this, could you explain this to me?
I thought there was also an exception for things that look like child's toys. If not? Watch out Super Soaker owners!
I love learning the niche nerd areas of the law!
We have real problems not to deal with toys...😂😂
No point in learning the law when police themselves don’t know or follow law. Do what works best for you as a result.
It would have been hilarious if there was a trigger lock on the Nerf dog ball launcher
I think the tie is still in suitcase
The liberals are making it very difficult to be a liberal!
The politicians that made this bill, must have been banned from their local fields for not calling their hits 😂

Sounds like a lot of movie prop item's are going to get a lot of people in trouble .
Movie prop guns have a special exemption in Canadian firearms laws - the prop houses, however, have to maintain a special license with heavy restrictions. If you don't have this license (i.e. doing a college film or some stupid TikTok), then no movie props for you.
@@eddietat95 Didn't know that but i was talking about people that collect stuff like that.

Hey Runkle ❤
I am glad for the airsoft players. However, I have a question about the upcoming rifle magazine capacity changes. It's not clear if the future mag capacity requirements of five rounds will be implemented for bolt action rifles. Currently semiautomatic rifles are limited to five rounds. I currently own a Ruger 77/22 hornet bolt action which has a six round plastic rotary magazine which will not be easily converted to five rounds. Almost all of the rifles used for precision rifle shooting also have and use ten round magazines for competition. Is there any indication in the legislation of this issue.

@@RunkleOfTheBailey I think mechanically it's more like a holder/extractor. At least the ones I am familiar with. Now Ramsets for concrete definitely have a barrel... and fire using a small cartridge. PAL not required when I was using them but maybe that has changed?
@@RunkleOfTheBailey Has to nerd out and answer my own comment. So Ramset Canada doesn't state PAL but Powder Operated Tool Certification Course. This course link takes you to a US page (just general safety training)... and these things use a little cartridge (like a .22 blank). I think there was something in the works years ago about requiring a PAL for these and everyone just went pfff.. piss off... and they did.
Sooooo... movie sets/plays? Obviously from recent news movie sets are going to be using more replica guns. To get around this "no replica" rule you would have to use a by-definition firearm i.e. replica pellet gun? By plugging the barrel to make a replica pellet gun safe would that then make it a true non-firearm replica therefore illegal? Is there an exemption for replicas for entertainment purposes? If so would airsoft be considered for entertainment? There is a play in Toronto called Bullets on Broadway a Virtual Murder Mystery. Wonder how they are working this?
What about a RamSet nailer -- using a .22 blank to drive a nail -- and on the fake end -- does that include 3d prints?

The kinetic energy of a tennis ball (~57 g) at 150 m/s would be about 641 J, so .40 S&W levels.
Runkle brought up tennis balls propelled to 150 m/s (or rather 500 fps) in the video so I commented what energy that would have.
...however, all airsoft guns will be restricted to 5 bb magazine capacity (sarcasm)
Tranquilizer dart guns?
So, a paintball gun would be considered an airsoft as well?
Ahh canada and the US. The most "free countries" Please save me. I just wanna airsoft.

Can you comment on the Byrna HD for Ontario?
My entire pellet gun collection shoots under 500 fps but most of them also have the PAL (500+ fps) version available for sale.

Pretty much.
Why does America have so much gun violence? What is their problem?
"What if America and Canada, are to far gone?"
Meaning that perhaps, there is no turning the situation around?
TLDR: What if America and Canada are so damaged, that there is no solution?
@@dwi2921 interesting viewpoint. There are mass numbers of homeless Canadians, drug addiction is higher than ever and so is mental health, and Canadians do own guns, but rarely do you see mass shootings in Canada. That was my point. Canadians keep them holstered. Americans seem hell bent on their constitutional rights to bear arms, but they took it wrong. It was supposed to be a defence against a corrupt government or something if I have that right. I may not. But now it’s an epidemic of violence. I hear about things happening there almost daily. I’m just surprised the government hasn’t done anything. Perhaps they are scared to for fear those gun owners assemble and cause a revolution of sorts? I just don’t know why else they haven’t cracked down on it there.
As for Canada in general, everything went to shit when bloody idiots voted in that pussy-boy excuse for a leader. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice…. Why did they vote him in twice?!?!? 😮🤯🤦🏽♀️
@@dwi2921 The United States gun laws are too strict. The NFA is ridiculous if you actually look into it, and I beleive machine guns should be legal, so the Hughes Amendment, which banned the sale of machine guns manufactered after 1986, is also wrong in my opinion.
All countries should have gun rights, and there shouldn't be any licenses to buy guns.

In an ideal world, where people were universally responsible and dangerous people weren't created (accidentally or otherwise) or existed, I would agree with you.
