the skater drill comment is in line with how I'm thinking of the Xstep. The last step is more of a jump than a step..in my mind. When I do it right, the disc just comes out on its own.
"You don't get the tip if the whip without the handle." That is gold. Literal gold nugget. All this time, I've been using my back and shoulder as the handle.
Ive been hardstuck at 400' for the last 2 seasons. 2 hours of practising this (from the last vid you made) made me throw the occasional 430-450. Technique still isnt very good, but when I get it somewhat correctly, I really feel it. Like my fingers are getting numb from the extra acceleration. I also got sore in muscles I usually dont get sore in, so Im def using more of my body. Thanks man, this is awesome. Hope to be getting to that 450' mark ASAP :D
One super important thing you changed and didn’t mention is the angle you placed your left foot on the x step. Instead of leading with the heel, you now close it. Keeping it at a 90 degree angle to the target allows your lower body to coil. That’s where the power comes from.
Awesome advice. This is what I was lacking on my backhand form. Robbie C told me to bend my knees on my walk-up. He also showed the shift motion from back to front leg is almost like a hop or spring to get that momentum. After practicing that, and changing my head placement 😂 ...i started getting the rubber band effect with my brace and got it on time.
From your old form, to your new form - what do you think straightened out the bend in your knee on your plant? This is something I'm working on - too much knee bend on the plant step.
The brace stoping the momentum, allowing the arm to sling forward and causing the snap makes sense. Good tutorial and like the pumpkin analogy.
The Handle of the Whip sums it up!

Keep it comin!
Videos are easier to understand than walls of text on forums😆
That's where we used to try to find the extra distance secret sauce
Nice analogy of the pumpkin and the car. Makes sense with the brace!

He does mention that in the other video, I believe. Great point.

Great video man. This is incredibly helpful
Thanks so much for making your videos. By far some of the most helpful tips I've seen on YT.
Thank you! Really helpful!
Love to hear that!

This is what I’m STRUGGLING WITH, this and I do this weird shoulder shrug.
I hope the video helped!
Maybe dont pop your hip out but turn your front hip back. Do not flare it out but just turn it
