@@michaelhawkins7389blu-ray is still great, never said it wasn’t, but 4K can look incredible when done right. So yeah, it’s unfortunate when films I love don’t get the 4K disc when a 4K master exists!
In the UK you are really lucky that there is something like HMV. The selection is amazing. And all the great Blu-ray editions. Just the beautiful Mubi and Criterions. Here in Germany the selection is unfortunately not so big.
Hi Elliot. Wow, lots of great deals and film releases at HMV. Wish there was a good store like this in the US. I'm really into Aki Kaurismäki films lately and love the Mubi release of Fallen Leaves which is one of my favorite films from 2023. Summertime is one of my favorites also. Thanks for sharing your shopping trip and recent pickups. Great video!
When I'm in London I really like going to HMV in Oxford Street (it is opened since the last Christmas). I normally buy some Blu-rays there.. But not many "Bargains" just the usual prices .. Shall we say ☀️
Really interested to hear what you think of the Wakaliwood films. I saw Bad Black a couple years ago and it was quite exhilarating to watch such a distinctive and energetic approach to cinema. I need to check out more of those titles.
You're so lucky to have HMV in the UK. We have nothing left like this in the states. If you want physical movies, it's online only at this point unless you have a used media shop in town.
Excellent video Elliot; I picked up ‘The Sword & The Claw’ recently aswell; a few other 101 titles aswell bud 😀👍 The AFGA label is such a cool side label for 101 films; great stuff 👌
I really wish we could get more Turkish films starring Cüneyt Arkın. Gold Ninja Video put out a set that had 3 films and there are copies out there of 'Turkish Star Wars' aka The Man Who Saved the World. All are real mind melters. The VJ on Who Killed Captain Alex makes it so much fun. I don't think another feature length movie could possibly have a lower budget (reportedly just $85)
I’m in the U.S. and want to order from HMV. But anytime I’ve tried, I can’t because of my address. I thought HMV could ship to the U.S. Anyone have answers that might help?
Those 101 titles are a bit nuts. It's a shame some very good films never a Blu release while really niche (dare I say - crap) films did. Anyway...it's a first world problem.
@@MadMartysMovieReviews-gv6hk Yeah, me too. Such a shame as in many ways we’re living in a fantastic age of physical media. Just a shame it’s not reflected in the high street.
HMV has to be the best corporate physical media store in the world. We have some solid independent stores in the USA but there's only a handful or two and they're scattered across the country. So jealous of that selection of boutique labels in your local store.
Really wish we had a major retailer like HMV here in the US that sold boutique releases like this. Even most of our basic options (like Walmart and Target) seem to be stocking less and less. Buying online just isn't as fun.
I still love HMV, but I find myself using the online store much more than the physical store these days. The physical media selection has been decimated at my local (Manchester Arndale), and 40% of the shop is occupied by American sweets and various forms of cheap tat.
I would love if Mubi started releasing blurays here in Australia. Love their service and would love to own some physically. The only issue is that for whatever reason, the majority of those bigger titles like Priscilla etc don't get licensed by Mubi here, but by other labels that may or may not release a barebones DVD after a very short theatrical run.

That’s a shame! I used to go to Saturn when I would visit Berlin and they had some big selections in those stores.
I was in Berlin, admittedly some years ago, but the selection of films was incredible, especially Cannon/MGM stuff.
@@ElliotCoen Yeah maybe because its Berlin 😅 Here in Cologne the Selection is getting smaller snd smaller in saturn or media markt.
Even worse in USA where Hollywood lives. Good video E.
The only problem is that there are quite a lot of Criterion discs that we don't get here in the UK.
Wow! I haven't seen a video section like that in years! Outstanding selection!

Really enjoyed the Iron Claw I picked up the german 4k.
Same. Looked very good as well
Second Sight have got a great 35% Off promotion in HMV at the moment.
I saw that on the website. Some great titles in there too!

Would love to know where this HMV is. Mine closed years ago, this one looks awesome.

"Wonka, haven't seen it yet", did you mean never saw the movie at all or just the blu-ray/rK? If you never saw the movie, you're in for a treat.
Haven’t seen the movie yet! I’ve heard good things
Hey Elliot, Graham from Man V Film reviewed all of the 101 Films AGFA titles so you can make an informed choice on which titles you want next.

There’s an audience for these films otherwise they wouldn’t get released. One man’s trash is another man’s treasure :)
@@ElliotCoen true
What HMV store is that as my local isn't that well stocked?!!
This is HMV Stockport :)
Well all I can do is just _Droooolll_ over these titles. Here in Australia boutique labels are very rare, it's pathetic. 😞😩
Damn, this puts our HMV to shame. Their selection is tiny. Even tinier since they refitted it, and now concentrate primarily on merchandise and vinyl.
loving the mubi slipcovers
Good vid Elliott, sadly my local HMV shut years ago, nearest one is 60 miles away 😮
Such a shame. And the few that are left are shadows of their former selves. Full of high-margin, low-quality tat that are put front and centre.
@DanKeatis Very true but some of the new HMVs look very good, miss just wandering around checking out new releases

Criterion are still outrageously priced even on sale. You never get two for £15. 😂
