My trip to Switzerland. I watched a scary video, it said if you do not validate before you board, you get
a fine! I will be using the he bus before
the train, coming back to Geneva airport

Hi, there . Just wan to ask on buying train tickets manually via machine . Once I've got the ticket , how should I get it validate? What is the step to do
Hi there, no need to validate. Every normal ticket is valid for a full day for the date you choosed at the ticket machine. The date and time its valid is printed on the paperticket. (Usually till 00.50 on the next day to cover conections past midnight) This also means you can take any train on that day as there is no reservation linked to the ticket. Even when the ticket machine shows/offers you a buy option for single connections.
You only need to show the ticket in the train if a control happens. The conductor will stamp your paper ticket. Hope this helps a bit. Best
