Kudos! Fantastic review and you always use good music to illustrate a new plugin. As soon as I told you about the release I bought without even thinking about it. This compliments my master bus nicely. This is one chunky piece of plugin.
Well this one of the few Sat box i can threw on the master bus without fearing to lose quality and this at low Samplerate (48khz) .... i hear the same quality as HW or UAD stuff here specially in the low and high end register where a lot of native stuff fail ... I can't even imagine if they make a HW of this , this would be a killa !! As for the music , pure impro track while messing around my new plugins 'Softube juno , Korg Triton and Roland zenology lol thks for the kind words !!
Thks !!! Glad you liked it , it's really a beautyfull plugin , this and Blackbox release this year makes distortion plugins list better !! Be sure to try , unless you're not ready to buy lol Take care and stay safe ...
It's an exellent plugin but i tend to not using that much ..... more for indv track during production or sound design here than post production ...not because it can't handle it , just because this is the way i see it , nowdays since channels trip and other stuff intgrate more and more saturation , it lowered my need for indiv dedicated saturation plugins , it's more a bus uses and for that i really need more control other the canals (M/S ect ..) hence stuff like VSM / Black Box / Saturn /ozone exiter ect ... decapitator could be uses in sub busses (non main buses)
Definitly , this is imho where it deffers the most from other native stuff , color wise it can be similar , but the dynamic handling of stuff is different ...
Salut Jeezo!
Cheers !
No problem , both are top quality , so no degradation unless you overdue it !! did a master in Decemeber where i had Culture vulture and a tape (UAD) , it worked superb .... if the track asks for it , go for it !! no rule , just need to get the right tools (quality wise) and as soon as you know how to use them it 's good !!
@@ZozillaThaGreat im very impressed with those mothers. All three plugins they store in their shed. Yeah it's true. The very expensive stuff from really good devs, bought directly, can make you very happy and save money the long run. And I for sure don't mean a new PA console or something else for 450 dollars from plugin alliance. The best to you.
@@ZozillaThaGreat that would be awesome. I'm thinking about getting all three. Unfortunately they do not offer any EDU discount or else and they do cost huge amount. I'm not sure about their VCA as I got the great new Arturia one and it really rocks. Unfortunately you can't get the EQ only for a good price single, let's say 99 Euro. Single for over 200 and bundle 240. Man. Damn. ;)
I agree on the color. They say colors affect mood and this is downright gloomy. Wouldn't have been my choice but definitely just a personal nitpicky thing.Would love to see a choice of skins but I don't think they would even consider that.
god forbid they improve in 2022 and offer colors, GUI sizes, and additional features...just another version of luxury VSM3 , which already sounds better than the washed out tube sound that everybody is doing..Too many tube plugins..At least BB MS looks luxurious, and sounds like it.
Nice review and it sounds great. Very tempting. Love the groove too! But, a comparison with black box HG-2MS would be useful. Also, the transformer section is great, but I think kazrog true iron is even better, more versatile. Still, for a single tool, this looks and sounds great. I should also mention that my testing of kelvin left me underwhelmed; I was really excited about the dual transformer possibilities, but true iron leaves it in the dust for me. Maybe it's a deficiency on my part....
Nope Brian , you're right , True iron is simply one of the best aorund , transformer wise , it's as good as the vertigo , but more versatyle thks to diffrents models , but the vertigo section makes it capabel of then going way beyong true iron .... The comparison with HG2 ? i think people should do it , because it's a question of taste when it come to saturation and color .... both are solid , if somebody don't know witch one to pick (sonicaly) , he will be good with either one , but in fact i will point him to the one he's more confortable with ...... Thks for sharing your thougths :!! And for watching .;)
@@ZozillaThaGreat I gave the demo of VSM-4 a try; wow, I love it. It just does something nice to mids/highs; it seems even to be able to enhance the stereo image (first stage set to mid, second set to side). For me, true iron either in parallel or series with black box is possibly the equal of VSM-4, but I do think VSM-4 can give unique results; it's very silky smooth. It's a great tool, one of the best I've played with. Thanks again for the extensive review! Oh, one more thing: the oversampling capability of VSM-4 is a real advantage in my opinion; I believe the HG-2 and HG-2MS do not implement sufficient oversampling, and certainly it's not configurable; if I'm wrong, please correct me. I don't know if the aliasing is audible, but for a mastering tool, I just want to *know* the tools are taking care of aliasing for me. :) [Note: there is a video by Dom Silagas where he *demonstrates* aliasing in the HG-2 plugin (vs the hardware box). In a post on a board, one of the implementors claims the HG-2 *has* oversampling. Both could be correct: if the oversampling is not high enough, there can still be audible aliasing....]
VSM 4 is just superb , again like i always say , i'm not a youtuber , and only do reviews on stuff i found dope and actually use or will !!! and of course the more tools/choices , the more i'm peaky !!! As for hg 2 , if i recall well the new version is cleaner ... but anyway if you use it stricly on mastering , i usually when using native plugin upsample my sessions to 96K just in case .... most of my plugin are already clean in that aspect but just as a security if i want to fire an older tools (lately for exemple sonnox inflator ) . Glad you like it and best thing is that it's quality without flooring the cpu like often !!
Thanks Jeezo!, liked the transformer (very clean, seems like a stereo image enhancer), didn't liked the pentode, found it harsh. Also sounds compressed/flat pretty fast.
Everything is a question of amount and wise choice , sometime it doesn t need that much if tou done your job right orior to that ....also the busier the mix , the more impacting it is since it change a lot of sounds ;) be sure to playbwith the thd mix knob this is when it comes handy to bring back the original content if you feel youbpushed to hard ... Thks for watching and for sharing your thougths , and yeah that transformer is superb , would be great if they could release a small plugin just withi it. ....
Yes bro I saw your post a gearspace and was hoping this video would be out soon! I jsut shared this video to the Acustica FB group stating its not a direct comparison to Crimson since it uses Tubes instead of FETs and Diodes. I hope they will make a more newer CPU friendly version of Crimson!
Thks for sharing , i closed FB for a couple of dayz (i do that often to clear mind ;) ) Yep big issue with akustica stuff is cpu hit , and smootheness of operation .... since V13 engine it's way better but still ... Thks for watching !!
Stay safe ... PS: tu comprends vraiment rien en english ?

Does this plugin run on M1 macs?
yep
Got a question for you. Would you put VSM4 AND T-racks Tape on the same master bus or is that 2 of the same thing so overkill? Thanks!

Most interesting. Will they do sales usually and are their own plugins better than the PA pendants? I guess so. Cheers
they will be always more expenive than PA , butthing is those bad boyz are top quality and will make you buy less plugins in fact !!!
