Listening and about 45 min in. Adventist currently. I see you guys laughing sometimes at these writings.. and I can’t help but join you. It’s rough though but I can’t help to see so much biblical error in her writings now. In my opinion, I think because she has SO MUCH published in her name it’s hard to pin point at times all the inconsistencies. This past year has been so hard to see a church that I loved and respected with all its flaws become a church system I can no longer support. The evidence is just to great. My heart is heavy but I know the Lord will lead. God bless you guys.. I know it’s not always an easy road 🙏🏽

Also, Ellen never passed anything she wrote from others off as her own visions, did she, in fact, quote other's truths that supported what she saw in her visions? Yes that was a common accusation thrown at me, it was all my fault get failed prophecies hadn’t happened - interesting part was when I threw it back at them the answer was always “I don’t have to”
Her grandson came to our church representing the White Estate around 1992. He spoke at a special afternoon meeting. He said “ Nothing my grandmother prophesied has not come true” 100% he said! I couldn’t stand it. I stood up in the dark church and said “ What about what she said about “self abuse”. That’s clearly not true. He said all the science is not all in on that. Or something similar. So deceit is genetic. How sad he grew up and felt he had no option but to further the lie!
There’s money to be made in perpetuating the lie. Hats off to Dale Ratzlaff, who stepped away from the monetary benefits of continuing in the SDA ministry in favor of Truth. He is now receiving his reward for his life’s work.
I am amazed at what Adventists will argue. It is recorded in Ellen White's own writings that she had a message from her husband after he died. It even included "instructions" from him. Adventists themselves know how wrong necromancy is, and so to defend Ellen White, they say it was a dream, and that she wasn't consulting a spirit. It is absolutely incredible, to what extent they will argue and "defend".
Moreover I do not believe that any saint in scripture received any message from a passed on person in a dream. So was God supposedly tricking or confusing Ellen? She taught that the dead are totally unconscious and incapable of communicating.

When a "spiritual fact" is pointed out to them that doesn't fit into their logically compartmentalized system, they twist their brains into pretzels in order to force it to fit. For example, Colossians 2:14 (NIV) says Christ "forgave us all our sins, having canceled the written code, with its regulations, that was against us and that stood opposed to us; he took it away, nailing it to the cross." Now virtually the entire world of biblical scholarship interprets "the written code, with its regulations" as the law of Moses, including the 10 Commandments. But because SDA's have to hang onto the seventh-day Sabbath at all costs, they have come up with absurd interpretations. I was once told that in seminary Dr. Edward Heppenstall, rest his soul, came up with a half-way position. He used to say it was "the CURSE of the law" that was nailed to the cross, and he was the most liberal of SDA scholars and suffered accordingly. And I was told of another instructor that Dr. Raul Dederen used to teach that "only the CEREMONIAL law" was nailed. My former SDA friend told me he remembered when Dr. H corrected Dr. D and made him change his interpretation mid-course. It was embarrassing for all of them. Dr. H was then REMOVED from his post as head of the theology department at the SDA seminary at Andrews along with a large number of other professors during the great purge of the late 60s. And Dr. H's revised position never took hold. Today the church still says it was only the ceremonial law that was nailed. And if you read Dr. Bacchiocchi's book FROM SABBATH TO SUNDAY you will find this "intellectual" interpretation: On page 351 he says that what God "nailed on the cross" was "the record and the guilt of our sins." And he concludes by saying that Colossians 2:14 "has nothing to say about the law and the Sabbath." As someone once said -- "as Adventists we were taught that intellectual understanding is everything" -- has validity, since Adventists can read Dr. B's book (which is based on his Ph.D. work at Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome) and feel quite giddily "intellectual" and reassured that "intellectual understanding is everything." But in reality all they are doing is turning their own brains into the exact same shape as Dr. Bacchiocchi's. Pretzels, anyone?

On the subject of "present truth," the following is a comment I posted on Defeating Adventism #96: Question for SDAs: As we all know, Ellen White consistently interpreted 2 Peter 1:12 (KJV) to teach that “truth” changes over time, as for example in her statement that, "Special truths have been adapted to the conditions of the generations as they have existed. The present truth, which is a test to the people of this generation, was not a test to the people of generations far back.” How many of you have figured out that Ellen White’s interpretation of 2 Peter 1:12 was a sophomoric blunder: that the word “present” in the KJV does not mean chronologically current but instead means at hand, as in "is present with you"? Therefore I intend always to remind you of these qualities, though you know them and are established in the truth that you have. (2 Peter 1:12 ESV) Therefore, I will always be ready to remind you of these things, even though you already know them and have been established in the truth which is present with you. (2 Peter 1:12 NASB) So I will always remind you of these things, even though you know them and are firmly established in the truth you now have. (2 Peter 1:12 NIV)

As a former seventh, I can relate to you guys a lot. I believe I am fourth or fifth generation. my mother side of the family from Maine and it was among one some of the earliest followers as far as I remember. I am a Roman Catholic . I believe that we must follow the light that we are given and strive for all at all times. The truth is not in the SDA and untangling, their lies from my theological point of view was extremely hard and I find it to be still ongoing. They ingrain, false beliefs, deep. After being invited to an SDA church and bible study I went as far as being baptised AGAIN, into that church thinking I had found the truth. But I became very confused and still even after leaving that church, I always wonder about the sabbath, I mean rome did change it via Constantine. How can anyone make a day Holy? they can't. The world was forced to stop worshipping on the sabbath day and rather worship on the day of the sun until it became the norm! How do we justify this? keeping the sabbath Holy is still a part of the ten Commandments? Why do we keep the other nine if they were put away? In Colossians where Paul spoke of basically worshipping on whatever day you hold sacred, seems to me to mean no sabbath keeping was necessary anymore. So my concern now is, what if we all have been deceived and sunday worship or saturday worship are not necessary, none of them. So anyone promoting sabbath in any shape or form could be wrong?🤨🤔
That's the thing or doesn't matter what day we gather on. Whether Sunday in remembrance of the resurrection or Shabbat. It is your conviction, per Romans14 but each day we worship our Lord and God. It doesn't matter because ultimately Jesus was the substance of the Shabbat. Collosians 2. But we are told to gather so if one chooses to gather one day or the other or every day we need to fellowship and worship our Lord as a body
Thing is that, if we belong to Christ, in HIM we have entered the Sabbath rest that the law only pointed to. like Adam before the fall lived in a perpetual Sabbath, resting in "it is good". Interesting thought. If a person rejects the "present 1844 truth" and hence the door shuts on their salvation, does this mean that their name is simultaneously being reviewed in the IJ? How else could they be "shut out" and a heavenly judgement be made unless this happened simultaneously? 2 years ago I asked an SDA minister about the prophets (plural) at the end time. The answer was that the prophets Joel prophecied is referring to "minor" prophets but EGW was the major prophet. I have met zero "minor" prophets in the SDA church. Was this minister quoting EGW ? Ive never heard this before.
The gift of prophecy throughout the bible does not apply exclusively to one person, the bible mentions old people, adults, young people who received the gift of prophecy.

As an SDA questioning Adventism, the entire time I was listening, I was thinking about conditional prophecy and how that might apply to EGW’s apparent “failed” visions. I was happy when that was brought up near the end of the video, and Jonah, who I was also thinking about in relation to this, was discussed. However, I was a little disappointed with how you reasoned away conditional prophecy as a viable Adventist argument, because when I paused the video and went to read Jonah for myself, Jonah’s message from God did NOT say, “If you do not repent, your city will be destroyed” as YOU SAID IT WAS in this video. The message (both times God gives it) reads: “Arise, go to Nineveh, the great city, and cry out against it, because their wickedness has come up before Me.” - Jonah 1:2 “Arise, go to Nineveh, the great city, and proclaim to it the proclamation which I am going to give you…Then Jonah began to go through the city, one day’s walk; and he cried out and said, ‘40 more days, and Nineveh will be overthrown.’” - Jonah 3:2,4 God did not say, “If you do not repent, in 40 days, Nineveh will be overthrown.” That is adding to God’s Word. You said that EGW declared “This is what God told me” and Jonah gave a message with a condition added to it. That’s simply not what I read in the Bible. It is plain that the message God gave Jonah for Nineveh was also a “This is what God told me” declaration. You also said that Jonah was angry because the people were spared. In context, I don’t think that’s what Jonah was angry about. Instead, I think Jonah was angry that he had gone to all that trouble because he EXPECTED GOD TO CHANGE HIS MIND AND HAVE MERCY ON NINEVEH, thus he didn’t see a point in declaring God’s NON-conditional message. It wasn’t that Jonah knew God’s message was a conditional prophecy-it’s that he expected God would change His mind because He knew God was a God of mercy. I really have been enjoying watching your presentations as I really do want to be convinced that Adventism is not of God-I think I’m just a bit rebellious, haha-however, I really think there was an error made when it came to how you explained away the Adventist argument of a conditional prophecy. The way I heard it, you added your own bias and words to the Scripture so that you could have a quick response to a very valid question in the chat. This is not meant to be argumentative as, like I said, I have been enjoying learning about this. But I would appreciate (if there isn’t one in existence already) if you could have a discussion dedicated to the topic of conditional prophecy, being true to God’s Word. JWs and SDAs they are the same in the following manners; 1. They both claim that they are the only ones who know the truth. 2. They both originate from William Miller. 3. They both use dates to claim some prophecies. (The jws claim Jesus started ruling in heaven in 1914 while the SDAs claim Jesus entered the most holy compartment in 1844) 4. They both label all other believes as 'babylon the great' 5. They both don't necessarily teach that we are saved by grace through faith in Christ (SDAs believe we are saved also by keeping the ten commandments while jws believe we are saved by our works) 6. They both don't believe in Spiritual gifts (such as speaking in tongues, prophesying, delivering people from demons, e.t.c) 7. They both have similar understanding on man's soul (jws believe man is a soul and that the soul dies, while SDAs believe man has a soul, and that the soul sleeps after death) 8. They both believe they are the only ones who are going to be saved.

Absolutely correct, Sabrina! Yesterday I finished re-reading Steve Daily’s book (I’ve read it twice now). The documentation, citing of sources, insights, and nuanced (almost) week-by-week account of EGW’s life is unbelievably thorough. If you want insights into the entire SDA history and evolution of the group, this is easily the best educational book available.

The fact that she had numerous failed prophecies makes every SDA member either idiots or liars for confessing to anyone she was a true prophetess of GOD.
Let’s remember for outreach purposes to follow Christ and call no one a fool. We need to employ methods that show Christ’s love in order to reach them. Calling them idiots will make them feel persecuted and cause them to double down in their delusion because they’ll consider it an authentication of their beliefs according to Christ. Listening and about 45 min in. Adventist currently. I see you guys laughing sometimes at these writings.. and I can’t help but join you. It’s rough though but I can’t help to see so much biblical error in her writings now. In my opinion, I think because she has SO MUCH published in her name it’s hard to pin point at times all the inconsistencies. This past year has been so hard to see a church that I loved and respected with all its flaws become a church system I can no longer support. The evidence is just to great. My heart is heavy but I know the Lord will lead. God bless you guys.. I know it’s not always an easy road 🙏🏽

Her grandson came to our church representing the White Estate around 1992. He spoke at a special afternoon meeting. He said “ Nothing my grandmother prophesied has not come true” 100% he said! I couldn’t stand it. I stood up in the dark church and said “ What about what she said about “self abuse”. That’s clearly not true. He said all the science is not all in on that. Or something similar. So deceit is genetic. How sad he grew up and felt he had no option but to further the lie!

There’s money to be made in perpetuating the lie. Hats off to Dale Ratzlaff, who stepped away from the monetary benefits of continuing in the SDA ministry in favor of Truth. He is now receiving his reward for his life’s work.

I am amazed at what Adventists will argue. It is recorded in Ellen White's own writings that she had a message from her husband after he died. It even included "instructions" from him. Adventists themselves know how wrong necromancy is, and so to defend Ellen White, they say it was a dream, and that she wasn't consulting a spirit. It is absolutely incredible, to what extent they will argue and "defend".
Moreover I do not believe that any saint in scripture received any message from a passed on person in a dream.
So was God supposedly tricking or confusing Ellen?
She taught that the dead are totally unconscious and incapable of communicating.

.SDAism is anti-intellectual in the sense that everyone is mystified, under a spell. When a "spiritual fact" is pointed out to them that doesn't fit into their logically compartmentalized system, they twist their brains into pretzels in order to force it to fit.
For example, Colossians 2:14 (NIV) says Christ "forgave us all our sins, having canceled the written code, with its regulations, that was against us and that stood opposed to us; he took it away, nailing it to the cross."
Now virtually the entire world of biblical scholarship interprets "the written code, with its regulations" as the law of Moses, including the 10 Commandments.
But because SDA's have to hang onto the seventh-day Sabbath at all costs, they have come up with absurd interpretations. I was once told that in seminary Dr. Edward Heppenstall, rest his soul, came up with a half-way position. He used to say it was "the CURSE of the law" that was nailed to the cross, and he was the most liberal of SDA scholars and suffered accordingly.
And I was told of another instructor that Dr. Raul Dederen used to teach that "only the CEREMONIAL law" was nailed. My former SDA friend told me he remembered when Dr. H corrected Dr. D and made him change his interpretation mid-course. It was embarrassing for all of them. Dr. H was then REMOVED from his post as head of the theology department at the SDA seminary at Andrews along with a large number of other professors during the great purge of the late 60s. And Dr. H's revised position never took hold.
Today the church still says it was only the ceremonial law that was nailed. And if you read Dr. Bacchiocchi's book FROM SABBATH TO SUNDAY you will find this "intellectual" interpretation:
On page 351 he says that what God "nailed on the cross" was "the record and the guilt of our sins." And he concludes by saying that Colossians 2:14 "has nothing to say about the law and the Sabbath."
As someone once said -- "as Adventists we were taught that intellectual understanding is everything" -- has validity, since Adventists can read Dr. B's book (which is based on his Ph.D. work at Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome) and feel quite giddily "intellectual" and reassured that "intellectual understanding is everything."
But in reality all they are doing is turning their own brains into the exact same shape as Dr. Bacchiocchi's.

As a former seventh, I can relate to you guys a lot. I believe I am fourth or fifth generation. my mother side of the family from Maine and it was among one some of the earliest followers as far as I remember.
I am a Roman Catholic . I believe that we must follow the light that we are given and strive for all at all times. The truth is not in the SDA and untangling, their lies from my theological point of view was extremely hard and I find it to be still ongoing. They ingrain, false beliefs, deep.

After being invited to an SDA church and bible study I went as far as being baptised AGAIN, into that church thinking I had found the truth. But I became very confused and still even after leaving that church, I always wonder about the sabbath, I mean rome did change it via Constantine. How can anyone make a day Holy? they can't. The world was forced to stop worshipping on the sabbath day and rather worship on the day of the sun until it became the norm! How do we justify this? keeping the sabbath Holy is still a part of the ten Commandments? Why do we keep the other nine if they were put away? In Colossians where Paul spoke of basically worshipping on whatever day you hold sacred, seems to me to mean no sabbath keeping was necessary anymore. So my concern now is, what if we all have been deceived and sunday worship or saturday worship are not necessary, none of them. So anyone promoting sabbath in any shape or form could be wrong?🤨🤔

That's the thing or doesn't matter what day we gather on. Whether Sunday in remembrance of the resurrection or Shabbat. It is your conviction, per Romans14 but each day we worship our Lord and God. But we are told to gather so if one chooses to gather one day or the other or every day we need to fellowship and worship our Lord as a body

In Christ as His new creation (by His death and resurrection already, by His finished work already, guaranteed by down-payment through the Holy Spirit indwelling us, not set up by some fake spirit of fake prophecy to be waiting still on standing the slim chance some investigative judgement by keeping the law that has never ever saved anyone and never will save nor compliment the sufficient atonement and utmost salvation wrought by CHRIST ALONE.

2 years ago I asked an SDA minister about the prophets (plural) at the end time. The answer was that the prophets Joel prophecied is referring to "minor" prophets but EGW was the major prophet. I have met zero "minor" prophets in the SDA church. Was this minister quoting EGW ? Ive never heard this before.

As an SDA questioning Adventism, the entire time I was listening, I was thinking about conditional prophecy and how that might apply to EGW’s apparent “failed” visions. I was happy when that was brought up near the end of the video, and Jonah, who I was also thinking about in relation to this, was discussed. However, I was a little disappointed with how you reasoned away conditional prophecy as a viable Adventist argument, because when I paused the video and went to read Jonah for myself, Jonah’s message from God did NOT say, “If you do not repent, your city will be destroyed” as YOU SAID IT WAS in this video. The message (both times God gives it) reads:
“Arise, go to Nineveh, the great city, and cry out against it, because their wickedness has come up before Me.” - Jonah 1:2
“Arise, go to Nineveh, the great city, and proclaim to it the proclamation which I am going to give you…Then Jonah began to go through the city, one day’s walk; and he cried out and said, ‘40 more days, and Nineveh will be overthrown.’” - Jonah 3:2,4
God did not say, “If you do not repent, in 40 days, Nineveh will be overthrown.” That is adding to God’s Word. You said that EGW declared “This is what God told me” and Jonah gave a message with a condition added to it. That’s simply not what I read in the Bible. It is plain that the message God gave Jonah for Nineveh was also a “This is what God told me” declaration.
You also said that Jonah was angry because the people were spared. In context, I don’t think that’s what Jonah was angry about. Instead, I think Jonah was angry that he had gone to all that trouble because he EXPECTED GOD TO CHANGE HIS MIND AND HAVE MERCY ON NINEVEH, thus he didn’t see a point in declaring God’s NON-conditional message. It wasn’t that Jonah knew God’s message was a conditional prophecy-it’s that he expected God would change His mind because He knew God was a God of mercy.
I really have been enjoying watching your presentations as I really do want to be convinced that Adventism is not of God-I think I’m just a bit rebellious, haha-however, I really think there was an error made when it came to how you explained away the Adventist argument of a conditional prophecy. The way I heard it, you added your own bias and words to the Scripture so that you could have a quick response to a very valid question in the chat.
This is not meant to be argumentative as, like I said, I have been enjoying learning about this. But I would appreciate (if there isn’t one in existence already) if you could have a discussion dedicated to the topic of conditional prophecy, being true to God’s Word. Because as it currently stands in my mind, after doing my own study alongside watching this livestream, it still seems like a viable argument.

2. They both originate from William Miller.

5. They both don't necessarily teach that we are saved by grace through faith in Christ (SDAs believe we are saved also by keeping the ten commandments while jws believe we are saved by our works)
6. They both don't believe in Spiritual gifts (such as speaking in tongues, prophesying, delivering people from demons, e.t.c)
7. They both have similar understanding on man's soul (jws believe man is a soul and that the soul dies, while SDAs believe man has a soul, and that the soul sleeps after death)

Absolutely correct, Sabrina! Yesterday I finished re-reading Steve Daily’s book (I’ve read it twice now). The documentation, citing of sources, insights, and nuanced (almost) week-by-week account of EGW’s life is unbelievably thorough. If you want insights into the entire SDA history and evolution of the group, this is easily the best educational book available.
Would not be fair to have someone like Pr Ivor Myers or Elder Dwayne Lemon in the podcast ? I see many videos against Ellen G. White or the SDA church but no one from that faith is never invited ?

Let’s remember for outreach purposes to follow Christ and call no one a fool. We need to employ methods that show Christ’s love in order to reach them. Calling them idiots will make them feel persecuted and cause them to double down in their delusion because they’ll consider it an authentication of their beliefs according to Christ. I know it’s tempting to call people fools when they believe foolish things, but there are better ways to reach the lost!
