I wouldn't worry about the expense of having the raccoon tested if it didn't bite anyone. As another commenter said.....chicken wire works to keep chickens in, but it's not going to keep predators out. Reinforce it to ensure no predator can get in and kill the chickens. The new baby goats are totally adorable!
Yes it is
The county or state will run the necropsy test for rabies from the brain of the raccoon for free.
Historically, TX has more people die from Rabies each year than any other state. Is this person in TX? If so, better educational instruction is needed on what to do with a possible rabid animal. Another animal - a dog or a cat - could go snooping the burn pile about that smelly raccoon and lick its mouth .....and you are off to the races with another rabid animal and one that could be friendly to the children. Error on the side of caution Mr Eddy,, please.
use hardware cloth instead of chicken wire. It's more expensive but it will save your birds and last a long time.
Absolutely love the way those kids help one another and not argue! Very rare what great kids you have.
Yes, they enjoy working outside with us
@@EddyFamilyFarm yeah love the way the older ones are helping the younger ones all the time ........ I think "red poppy ranch" had a problem with coons getting there chooks a few years back
Lol cameras do wonders!
Yes they are. And when you son hurt his arm to see the the love the kids have for one another ❤❤❤❤
Highly Agreed well behaved kids congrats!
If that raccoon was there this morning, your chickens would have been hollering...good job on the dispatch!
Plus the coon would have been stiff as a board and covered with flies.
My guy Brandon Great job protecting your animals. i think its awesome you know the noises in your farm and realized with the quickness something was wrong. great job . if that Racoon would have been there this morning you would have seen and heard the commotion just like you did when that racoon tried to attack just before you put an end to him. once again great job.
Baby goats are the absolute cutest thing.
Yes, they are absolutely adorable. All of them.
@@EddyFamilyFarmI comment on this video i hope your chicken are okay
If you had guineas and now they're gone because they fly away and find their own territory they are wild birds I used to have three of them fly on top of my roof for a week and then they disappeared. They will fly away if you have them loose.
First time I found yall. So cute!! Saw the twin baby goats. Watched yall plant the seeds on the deer plant. Your a great dad. And yes raccoons dig. And they will get the chickens and the eggs. Be careful of rabies.
Badger is inventory supervisor. He’s always supervising while you’re getting things in and out of the shed 😂😂😂❤❤
I know this is a dumb question…is Badger an Alpaca or a Llama? He is SO CUUUUUUUTE! Love the huge eyes!
Aunty Carly is so good at her job she gets forgotten sometimes, but just goes about her job 🙏💕🥰 good girl 🥰
Great job Brandon with the way to cover the seed. So happy the raccoon didn't get to the chickens. ❤❤😊
Yes, it was definitely scary
Welcome home and congratulations on the twin boys. Darling. I hope your arm heals fast Brandon. Your kids are such good helpers. Good job, you're raising them right.
So glad you got that raccoon before he got your chickens. Hopefully the seeds you put out will come up. That's two beautiful babies. Everyone is always helping do their part in whatever Y'all are doing. Prayers for your hand. GOD BLESS Y'ALL.
Hope the food plot grows well.
Tip: Hardware cloth, attached with screws and washers, is stronger than chicken wire for deterring predators.
We always used hardware cloth, screws and washers for our chicken enclosures. 😊
It seems that predators are getting more and more desparate. BE CAREFUL!
Prayers for health and safety!🙏❤🙏
Humans keep taking over more and more of the territory they used to live on.
@@DaleAl-lg4ul Go live in Russia. Then you will see what worse really is.
The new babies are so sweet!
Weird about the raccoon!
Praying your hand heals completely!
God bless! ❤
Glad you didn't lose any chickens you guys are doing a good job on protecting your animals love your family ❤
My guess is that the racoon was very hungry, but maybe call the vets office and see if they want you to bring it in. Good on you, Brandon, for having your pewpew on you! The bag of feed that Braylee was toting is almost bigger than she is! Thank you, leighton, for helping her get it on the tailgate!
I absolutely love badger and how he comes up to your car or to where you’re feeding to see what you got for him to eat😂❤
Just to mention, I’ve seen numerous homesteaders bury new seed with a frameless chain link about 3X5 inches long. It pulls beautifully and does a great job covering seed .
It's good to see family working together, something families do less and less now days. This was a pleasure to watch. 👍
Love watching the kids all taken part. Teaching them to have so much self worth! Love the farm! God bless you all.
Badger is always there when you’re unloading those bags of feed! 😊
Love your videos and enjoy watching them every time they come on. May the lord bless and protect you and your family. The lord will guide you and Stephanie and be at your side always
Thank you and thank you so much for watching. Hope you have a wonderful day
❤
Happy you got that predator Brandon before he could get anymore of your chickens. I give you a lot of credit for being prepared. Love you family and everything you're doing keep up the good work .
Enjoyed the video. Two new kids are cute as a button. Glad you were home to get that raccoon. Your children sure are a great help. ❤️🫶❤️ North Carolina
Yes, we definitely got lucky
Your family is such a joy to watch working together!❤ Their work ethic as a TEAM IS WONDERFUL!! GREAT JOB MOM AND DAD!!😅 Great idea draging the soil to cover the seed!! You cant put too much seed down EVER on a food plot!!
Thank you so much!
Glad you got that predator, Kayson would've been heartbroken if anymore chickens come up missing. Can't wait to see how your food plot turns out. God Bless Y'all.
Chicken wire does not keep predators out, it keeps chickens in. It’s best to use hard wire cloth, but I must say you are fast. Good going!!!!!
I live in Oregon and I've seen lots of racoons out in the middle of the day. It might be because they are hungry or thirsty or both. It also might have to do with the drought.
Oh OK thanks for the info
I just love your kids, you're raising them up right.
Thank you
Wow cute babies. The kids are amazing helpers. Great day on the farm. Blessings ❤❤❤❤❤❤
New babies are adorable! 💓💝💘❤💖 watching your videos, thank you for sharing and have a great evening!
Chicken wire is only ment to keep chickens in not keep predators out. We had to reinforce our chicken run with chain length fence to keep loose/wild dogs out. Hardware cloth or other fencing material would probably be better.
I would take the raccoon to be tested on the safe side as other wild animals in the area could have been exposed. If it comes back with rabies doesn't it need to be reported?
Hardware Cloth for chicken pens works the best here in Maine - we have lots of ermine & varmints that fit through regular chicken wire
Yeah, I just don’t understand why the dogs didn’t catch it
Brandon You are So aware of Everything that takes place it is Amazing! Your instincts & Instant response is Remarkable!
Your farm has so many moving parts 24/7 staying ahead of Every conceivable scenario is a job that would be impossible.
You all deserve So much credit for the Fantastic care you manage.
The dogs were probably resting from the night shift & Carly was in protecting the baby goats.
You did the very best a farmer can do!
I am sure you are teaching your viewers big lessons whilst you maintain your farm & you & Stephanie teach your children Well. 🙏🏼✨♥️
Great video glad you got the raccoon 🦝 and didn’t loose any chickens 🐓
NEW SUBSCRIBER: I had chickens and every now and then we got a raccoon 🦝 and once a possum. We couldn’t afford to get them tested, but I did notice that the possum looked off like scrappy.. I love how y’all have taught your kids right. Not to be afraid of all living things, and when to stay back from them too 🙂
THANK YOU for your videos 😊👍
Another thought 💭 the drought will also make all animals seek out water and food, but you can survive without food but never without water 💦
OK thanks for the info. Greatly appreciate
💙❤️💚💜💛💖
Another Great Day At Eddy Family Farm 🚜
👨👦👦❤👩👧👧
Carly is still my favorite dog. Pretty sure she might knock me down jumping on me but still my favorite.
Yea she is
Mr. Eddy I have chickens myself and have had racoon problems..My solution was 1/2"×1/2 hardware cloth for my enclosures the racoons can easily chew thru chicken wire..I would suggest the half inch hardware cloth on all your coops it's a little more expensive but worth the investment..Good luck love the videos
Hey guys 👋love when family do things together your kid's are so helpful. ❤
Hi Steph and Brandon love watching you guys and your beautiful family. Leighton you did an excellent job looking after the farm👍👍. Was wondering if you have been doing any trapping? The baby goats are really cute wow just born. Take care. 👍👍❤️❤️🐓🐓🐓🐓🇨🇦
Thank you so much!
If the raccoon is out during the day it could be rabid.
Yeah, that’s what I kind of figured
Yes I agree
Being out in the daytime isn't a sign of rabies. They come out for food an water during the day as well.
@@vickyking5377 it could be though.
You did not miss it this morning if it was there this morning you would have seen it and heard the chickens they were letting you know that something is wrong so don't even think of that you missed it you do a great job protecting your animals God bless have a wonderful day
Just think of the little ( human ) seeds you have planted. I think about how you work with them . I know I only see some of the work you do but I think it's good. You and Steph are doing amazing.
Yea brandon call your wildlife agency to see if want to test it,quick respond on hearing the chickens making noise, love seeing the kids helping, brylie tuff little girl
Years ago my dad used an old box spring from a mattress set to drag the garden. He three a couple of blocks on top. Greetings from Southeastern Kentucky
I'm do glad you took care of the raccoon before he got inside!
Good video!
Badger is so cute!
I just love you and your family, even the kids get right into it and are ready to learn what your doing. I think that is Awesome. We have so many kids to interested in online things or gabbing on cell phones. They have no idea what they are missing.
You might want to get a hand spreader. They are great . So much easier to use. Great coverage. No need for level ground. Cuts back on time spent as well. Best of luck. Great kids. Team work.
We had a raccoon attack, a calf in the eye we had to take the raccoon in For test to make sure it didn't have rabbies. So that everyone was safe. Make sure the kids don't touch it.
The best thing to do is take him in and have him tested to be safe and put bleach in the back of the side by side where it was to kill the germs.
Wow that is crazy
Such pretty babies! The grey and white are stunning
You guys are amazing parents! Even when you have so much work to do, you let your kids help. God bless y’all!❤❤
Hi Eddy, this is the first video has come out,i love the country life,i just subscribe! Beautiful farm!🙏
Good job getting there fast & responding so quickly
Brandon, it’s most likely rabid carrying rabies. The only reason why I would be out in the daytime it’s sick very sick.❤❤
Oh ok thanks
When I had my critters, I left an AM/FM radio on a Talk radio channel going always. We never even lost one of our animals.
Well done Brandon getting things sorted so quickly...... I'm just wondering but do you have wire under your chicken frames so no predator can get to them 😊
So beautiful to see your kids get involved in the chores too great mum and dad right there ❤️ 👏 🎉love from Adelaide south Australia 🇦🇺 ❤️ 😊
Yes Brandon raccoons will dig so glad you got him he definitely would have killed a chicken I am surprised that Dixie or Toby didn't try to get the racoon and 🎊 on the new baby 🐐hopefully you and Leighton have a successful hunt this deer season like last year ❤❤❤❤❤❤ Yes Brandon I would have the racoon tested for rabies hopefully the dogs will leave the died racoon alone
Yes i im to
The wounded rabbit call on a disc worked very well for me. They are basically night and early morning hunters. Shoot from your deer blind and leave some bloody meat in the open area near the call.
Great video keep making memories with your kids.
I'M ANITA: I understand you can't let predators eat the chickens. Great Job of getting rid of him, if he had gotten in he would've killed all the chickens. Not just one but all! Kids are so cute and it reminds me of my brothers and sisters helping our dad. God BLess You All and God Bless All the Animals
Brandon you would have made Doc Holiday proud the way you took care of the chickens brother. 🙏🙏👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Check with your local DNR office. That’s how they know if it’s becoming an epidemic.
Oh ok thanks
I am glad Carly is doing her job she is a good LGD, I don't know what to do with the raccoon, if it looked health I wouldn't do anything else with it, if it had rabies I don't think it would be trying to eat a chicken, or any thing else but raccoons can be active during the day, you guys are in drought so it may need water or food, and thank goodness Kayson and you made it hard for him to get to the chickens Love you guys God bless you all and take care
So Happy you got to 50K subscribers Eddy Family ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Why didn't the dogs hear it and react
Maybe they took the bribe from Mr Rocket😅😅
Oh, it reacted alright😂
Hi. Thank you for nice movie. I guess I can keep watching your movie. 🙂👌🤝
Great job Carly. ❤❤
How many acres do ya'll have there? Looks pretty big. Your kiddo's are sure helpful.🥰
Glad you all were home to get that racoon. Thanks for the video. ❤❤
Wow live on camera and the alarm went off , you would imagine if any pests were around the birds would have been noisy to alert you of an issue. Glad you had a gun on yourself and dispatched with pride .
Rabies might show frothy mouth ? Yes i like the idea of getting the body checked to make you aware if an issue was in your area and you then can take precautions and not just feeding other wildlife diseased food.
You acted correctly and kept your kids very well back. Well done.
to Eddy Family Farm Congratulations on the baby goats
hugs from pam and john keep it coming on video we love you all
With the drought it could be that the predators are having trouble finding food so they're out at unusual times hunting easy prey .
Definitely get the raccoon tested. If he has rabies there’s a good chance other animals in the area are infected as well. Need to be safe for family and domestic animals outside!!
A racoon AND a possum can both dig and they will also go right through that chicken wire! I know from experience from having chickens over many years. I put dog wire around my pens. Then I dig a little ditch around the pen. Next I take wire and connect hardware cloth to the bottom of the pen so it's in the little ditch. Then I cover it with the ditch dirt so nothing can dig into the pen through the hardware cloth. I have lost way too many chickens to these critters but I have also learned from others wiser then I was. I hope this helps you guys. Sorry I missed you while you were here in my home state Alabama. I shop at Pedals from the past and just couldn't make it this time. God Bless
Have two guard dogs running around where they at don’t make any sense
Most the time they sleep throughout the day they’re up during the night
Hi Mr and Mrs Eddy, i have been a follower for a while but i havent said anything. It isnt normal for a raccoon to be out during the day. There is a possibility for it to have rabies, like you said in the video. But, there a r e other things that can cause animals like that to come out during the day. One is it is sick, from whatever reason. The best thing to do is to call the wildlife extension and ask questions. Tell them what you have and if they suggest having the raccoon tested by the state. If there rabies going around in a certain area the wildlife extension office needs to know. I live in South Dakota now but grew up in Oklahoma. We always did this with an animal that was wild but not acting right. One more thing, Brandon and Steph good job listening to your animals and their talking to you. Those chickens where telling you stuff was wrong in their pen. Way to go!!!! Stay safe and hydrated, God bless and all my love, Amy.
Because he was pushing through the wire might be a good idea to put more boards all the way around those coops to make much more narrow areas for anything to get through and reinforce The wire by putting another layer or even 2 if you can.
I hope your burn doesn’t get infected.
I heard by keeping the natural fluids inside the burn, keeps out infection and allow the fluid to back into the body. Personally I’d keep it covered.
WOW Awesome video. Good to see the children involved in the planting of the seeds. I an happy that you got the racoon dispatched. You are very good in listening to the different sounds that is going on. Thank you so much for sharing. Love and Blessings to you all.
❤❤❤❤🙏🙏🙏🙏 Doris, Penrith 🇦🇺🦘
I like that you're not sure but you're doing it anyway💪🏽
Maybe set some cameras up around your chickens, Brandon. I would call the vet and find out about the raccoons and the whole rabies thing.
So glad you caught the racoon😂
I got some square tubing, bolted it to the fertilizer and attached it to the trailer hitch on my lawn tractor. Much easier that pushing.
That is good to save your animals from the raccoon
Teach the oldest young man to trap and sell the hides - like Houston on Arms Family
Hello friend, if you haven't done so already, just burn the racoon carcass just in case. Also, if you don't have any Aloe Vera plant you need to get yourself some and slice open a leaf and spread that Jelly all over the burn on your hand. iI is absolutely the best for burns & 100% natural! Aloe Vera, all you do is slice open a leaf and spread that juice/jelly on your wound and wrap that up and make sure it stays moist for a day or two, after that, just keep applying aloe vera to it without it wrapped and you'll rejuvenate brand new skin with no scar. Also good for cuts, scrapes, and very soothing on sunburns. I enjoy your videos. Good luck and God bless you, from Los Angeles, CA.
wholesome content. God Bless
Brandon, you sound just like kevin on hidden heights
We see raccoons during the day all the time. They will be climbing around in the trees, running across the rode. Are you sure he hasn’t been there since night time and you just missed him? Anything can break through chicken wire very easy. Keep an eye out!
Hey also a tip for keeping animals from digging around your cages we buried wire where we set are cages for the chickens and they can’t dig because the wire will stop them around your cage we set are cage over top the wire that we buried.
The Mac's sent me. Glad I found you.
We call our local wildlife officer. They like to know if they may have rabies in the area.
The orchard sprinklers that you are using are the best! I find them at Home Depot for us city folk. The height and the heavy duty irrigation head helps to cover a large area of your garden fast. This sprinkle has adjustable legs so that you can adjust the sprinkle to handle slopes, hills and flat areas. I have used the same sprinkler for more than 10 years. I can’t say that for the run of the mill sprinklers. I highly recommend using timers to avoid using too much water or forgetting that you have a sprinkler going.
Quality content, quality content lol....she says watching grass spread!
Kayson is so proud of his self
❤️❤️❤️❤️
Layer hardware cloth over that chicken fencing. That will stop Racoons and other small predators including most Coyotes. A Coyote pack will tear through even that, but you will hear them. At that time add that smaller fencing. For Coyotes, a wounded rabbit call works wonders (add in a Real rabbit for greater effect so they smell it). Be aware that wounded rabbit calls can sound like a a scream from a mortally wounded child. Terrifying. But that sound to a Coyote is like Cat Nip to a cat.
Buddy great video my wife and I are about to start are channel doing this we are purchasing are first property next month and we are going off grid and starting my channel into showing are cabin build and how we are going to go off grid I’m excited man. I have deff learned allot from your channel. Thank you !!
Kids that don’t fight and argue all the time….Wonderful Job raising them. Maybe you should have more!!❤❤
Thank you and thank you so much for watching
Good shot Brandon! Quick and to the point!😃👍
Congrats getting to 50k
God bless, no one got hurt. It is always sad to suffer the loss of a farm animal 😢
