I also shoot savage lrpv .223 1:7 twist. Load is 22.8 varget, 1.975 ogive, cci 450, lapua brass. And a few of my best 3 shot groups at 100 yds almost look like 1 shot (but not many). Very nice rifle. A Sightrom Mark3 1/8 click fine dot scope

I've got a Savage model 12v in 204 and its the same "shoot lights out" .. I've never seen one that didn't. Great bench rifles

Also, I wait 2 minuets between shots to let barrel cool and my first shot is about an inch high and quarter inch left, every shot gets a little closer to 0 for about the next 8 shots then it settles in

Yeah, that's a nice shooting rifle for sure! With my experience shooting a 223 in F-class I bet you can get it shooting even better. Those velocities seem really slow too. You should be able to get into the 2800's. I get 2885 with 80 smk's and a 28" barrel and 24.7 grains of varget. It's not a hot load at all.
I'm curious what your experience is with groups that string like the one on the left and in the middle. For me I haven't had the best luck with them being consistent. A good load for me has a variance of about 15 or 20 for 5 shots. Powder and seating depth test usually gets me to that point.
I've also noticed that when my rifles are under 200 rounds the loads aren't consistent. After that the barrel speeds up a little and settles down. At that point my groups and velocities seem to stay more consistent. I've actually stopped doing load tests until I get 200 rounds on it as the load usually has to be changed after that. So I'd be curious see what yours does with another powder test once you get to that 200 round mark.
Anyway, great shooting and love the content. Hope you don't mind me sharing some info from my experience. Looking forward to some more videos with the 223.

Yeah Im almost out of Varget sadly so Ill end up having to use a new powder whether I want to or not lol. I thought about bumping the fps up but it shoots so good were its at I just havent messed with it. That load won me two matches over the summer so I havent really given it much more thought other than trying to get more of it loaded up. Appreciate your insight feel free to share anytime! Thanks for watching!

I think i`m missing something here Mr Hide... what is different with the 3 group loads...
i see your loading data is all identical, all the data looks the same, but your groups sure are different. What were you testing for?
One group was vertical, next was all over, last one tighter circle. Seems maybe barrel harmonics are playing a roll here (???)

...I'm shooting 69grn Sierra MK in 1:9 twist over 23.0 grn of H322. It's putting them in 0.3" grps @100 yards. These are still sub MoA @900 yards. At 1000 it's 2+ MoA but you can't expect it too much!

Your videos on the lrpv have me wanting to save and get one new in 223... I don't think anywhere has them? Did you get yours new? I cannot remember if you said earlier. any advice? or maybe a good second option? Can a ffl order one from savage? I can't seem to figure it out. anyways, thanks for all the awesome vids man!

Yeah they are just a blast to shoot. The most accurate rifle out of the box Ive ever owned for sure. Just keep an eye on Gunbroker an some of the major retailers online. I found mine on KY Gun Co.com these are small batch rifles from Savage so they dont produce many of them a year. So you usually just have to keep hunting around. Hope you get a chance to find one you wont regret it! Thanks for watching!

Good looking load. Looks like no stability issues with those 77gr. Is that barrel a 9.25" twist rate? I vote for seeing results at 200yds.

I have a Howa 223 in the varmint 20inch barrel I use for Fox shooting , I've been loading 40 grain Nosler ballistic tips with excellent accuracy but want to try a heavier bullet , any suggestions ??

    • @andyprairiedog
      @andyprairiedog 2 года назад +1

A tad heavier is my favorite for coyotes...Hornady 53 grain V-max. Had those pills for about 2 years now. Not so sure about Hornady policy on the vax mandate they're giving their employees. i may try some of your 40 grain Nosler.

@@andyprairiedog The Nosler 40g are lightning fast and extremely accurate .,. I do have some 50g VMAX I might try and see how they go .

      Shane, i have a newer Howa 1500 in 223 heavy barrel (20in) with a 1-8 twist i bought in 2021.
I wont bother with anything lower than a 55 grain bullet in mine because the accuracy always sucks with lighter bullets. What is your twist rate on your Howa 223?
I can`t list my particular reload in here, but at 100 yds, its one hole groups all day everyday.
