A good video Samwise, I've been considering getting to Book of The New Sun. But after reading one of Wolfe's later books The Land Across, I was a bit hesitant. Your video has me considering picking it up, though I would also like to try his duology The Wizard Knight as well. Very good video!
I also have the Wizard Knight and would love to get to it, maybe next year. I haven’t read The Land Across so I can’t speak to it specifically, but Book of the New Sun is great and worth the read!
@@Chance.DillonReally ? Because I have read the first one, and beside the whole "characters going in a journey", I didn't find it close enough to Wolfe ('s prose) for my tastes :/ Don't get me wrong, I really like it but it lack the christian symbolism, which is a instant win with me. Maybe in the others novels ?
@@alucard197 ahhhh I see. Yes it definitely doesn’t have the roots that BoTNS has. I guess my reference was to the story and it being established. Sevarian has such a unique voice to any characters I’ve read (including the homage given by Ruocchio) but following the New Sun narrative was one of those unique challenges for me surrounded by wonderful exposition of just sevarians world view

What a great breakdown. His prose for me really hooked me into the story-as hard at times as it was to follow.
I find it very similar to Malazan in that aspect
@@Chance.Dillon No don’t mention that series!!! It scares me!!!
@@iSamwise 😂😂 I’m just sayin! If you comprehended book of the new sun you’d love Malazan

Is it more or less confusing than how someone could like Elantris more than Words of Radiance?
I would say probably more??? But I feel like I don’t have a right to say while in jail…
My biggest recommendation was the podcast arc covering this series done by Shelved by Genre
@@sw3dge I haven’t heard of that! I’ll have to check it out.
