His drumming is always super tight. His playing in the Alive in Athens album is a freaking clinic.
One of the best. Such un underated drumer. A shame. This guy ALWAYS kills it.
I took guitar lessons from his equally talented brother, Kent about 25 years ago. I used to go across the hall and listen to Brent practice- he was superb even back then. The brothers had a bad ass power metal band called Prodigy (later called Oracle) and I had my mom take me to their shows.
I love the way this sounds without triggers!!

@@larsdermeta trigger don't make you a better drummer, or a faster drummer. They are great for making fast double bass more cleaner. Take this guy for instance, he has great sound but i noticed quite a few of his double strokes are almost dropped in the mix because of the speed. Triggers fix that so ever hit is clear.
@@ddevil4980 I'm not a trigger hater, but a compressor can also lift the weaker hits without loosing dynamics completely. I'm personally more for that in my own playing, but I have nothing against people who use triggers. It's cool when it fits the genre.

Brent has superb technique but also intuitive feel and knows when to change up tempo, tone, power, and patterns. He's not just double bass and a cloud of dust.

You know what? I always used to think this guy always "comes and goes" then "returns and leaves again" and "returns again and leaves again". Now that almost everybody quit I'm quite surprised this guy remained in the band

Need to put live heads on the Toms. Sound weak and thuddy. Great Drummer though.
In my experience it’s just DW drums in general that do that. They suck all of the power out of your hits and sound like nothing. Horrible to play.
That's his tour kit not his home kit it could be that or the mix but hes not as loud here as normal
Saw him in the iced earth first show in greece ever 1996 and in two shows in alive in Athens...this guy is fuckin beast.....his feets ...are so fuckin technical..fast ..and tight...that make you think ..he is a machine no HUMAN BEING
