Getting Started WIth An MC6 And Chase Bliss

- In this video, let's look at all that you need to know to get up and running with your MC6 and your Chase Bliss pedals. There is more to cover than what is here in the video, but I wanted to give you the basics. For this you will need a Morningstar MC6, a 5-pin MIDI cable, a MIDI Box, a TRS cable, and a Chase Bliss pedal.

Thanks for this. Can you please explain the difference between a program change and control change, with reference to the 3 actions you performed above? Specifically what the purpose of assigning the PRESET switch was, and also what the term preset means in regards to the MC6.
Program Change (aka Preset Change) messages are used to save and recall presets on MIDI capable devices. So you get a sound you really like and tweaked for an hour. You can then save all of those settings to a Preset, then use a PC message to recall it whenever you want.
Control Change messages are for controlling individual parameters on a device, in this case a knob or switch. You can use these CC messages to toggle bypass, change knob positions, toggle positions etc, remotely. This is useful if the pedal is bypassed and in a rack or on the table, but you still want to manipulate bypass state or modes with your feet.
Preset in regards to the MC6, refer to the previously saved settings you assigned to each footswitch.

@@cbmodswazradar Exactly. Used just as an example, not really any importance for those PC and channel numbers. Just be sure you're sending PC's on the same channel your device is assigned

Why are CB pedals still being made this way...Need to step it up into the future, such great that really aren't midi compatible without another box on the board....sad.

so the MC6 can maximize the number of presets you can make for any Chasebliss pedal??
Yep! But not exclusive to the MC6. Any MIDI controller capable of sending PC messages gives you access to the higher number of presets.

Brilliant! With my morningstar arriving tomorrow and my brothers waiting for it, this is perfectly timed. Makes perfect sense. Looks to be even easier with the morningstar web editor :-)

This seems complicated. When set up can I simply have the 6 buttons for 6 presets?
I know it's been 8 months, but I thought I'd answer. No, with the MC6, you have 30 banks with 12 presets in each bank (two pages of 6 buttons each). Each preset can be programmed to send 16 different messages of your choice. Tons of options to recall presets on pedals or send CC data for parameter control or any expression control you want.
Sorry.... I meant "no, you're not limited to 6". But YES, you can have just 6 buttons for 6 presets. sorry for the confusion

i need one with a RJM mastermind PBC, it works very different, and I still can't control my C.Bliss pedals
Would it be possible to add another chasebliss midi box into the chain using the midi thru, then back to the morningstar? For example, if you have more than 4 chase bliss pedals, and want to control them all with the morningstar mc6? Thanks!

That's kinda the point of it having a Thru port.
This is old but why would you need a midi box for with the morningstar? My mc8 already has 4 omni ports i can set to ring active so no need for the midi box
This is a MC6 MkI. Changing omniport assignments to be compatible with Chase Bliss pedals wasn't supported until MC6 MKII

Hey Joey! I have the MC6 Pro now, with omniports. With those, there's no need for the midi box then? Just connect the CBA pedal via TRS and set the ring to active?
@@andretorruco yup thats what i figured i just didnt realize older morningstar controllers did not have the capability before so that was clarified by chase bliss. I have an mc8 and always used the pedal set to ring active and had no problems that the only reason i asked but i may have to get a midi box because i need more ports lol. Board is getting to big.

got a morningstar on the way to use with my Brothers and Condor. One question - how many midi presets does each pedal have that can be selected by Morningstar - just the three on the physical switch or more?
